Photos and Description of this South Kuta holiday villa

Stunning 3-bed Villa Champa close to Jimbaran Beach with Car/Driver included

Villa Champa is just a really elegant luxury villa on 2 levels that nestles beautifully into a scenic hillside on the Bukit peninsula in Southern Bali. It is fittingly located nearby Bali’s much heralded southern beaches, including lovely locations such as; Balangan [one of the last great laid back beaches] Bingin, Dreamland and Pandawa – a real beach lovers gem. There are numerous local restaurants nearby should you ever need to have a change from the delicious meals served up by Villa Champa's private chef. If your visit is part of large family gatherings or celebrations then residing Villa Champa allows you easy access to the local hotels where other party members may be staying.

Villa Champa has a modern and spacious design and layout, with multiple living areas, a great tropical garden, and really eye-watering distant vistas. We take our name from the from the Dok Champa flower, meaning; “sincerity and joy in life’ – so we hope you will find that at Villa Champa have tried to embrace the all the natural beauty of Bali. A warm ambiance will greet you and hopefully inspire some magic moments of tranquility and relaxation on your vacation with us.

Our open living area is seamlessly integrated with the pool and garden area. We feature a stunning 13 meter, infinity-edge lap pool so you will never be far from a relaxing dip or a refreshing long swim. Villa Champa has 3 air-conditioned bedrooms; each with its own en-suite bathroom. All bedrooms feature “King Koil” luxury mattresses for maximum comfort and rest. The air-conditioners are whisper quiet and discretely hidden within teak timber enclosures and all bedrooms are also provided with ceiling fans. A majestic master bedroom on the first floor gives you space and beautiful views across the Bukit. Also upstairs is a second lovely bedroom, which can be configured as a twin or double, and which also opens onto the huge upstairs living area and has a spectacular outlook over the villa garden.

A lovely double-bedroom is located downstairs, ideal for elderly relatives, with direct access to the pool deck and has its own private garden. The en-suite bathroom features a Bali style outdoor shower in a private garden area. We can offer additional sleeping options in the upstairs TV lounge where there is a very large sofa-bed, complete with mosquito net so making a very comfortable space to sleep. We can sleep up to 7 guests at the villa – there is a standard extra fee of GBP 20/night for each extra guest above the standard 6 guests.

Villa Champa has two huge lounge/living areas so you can keep the kids happy while relaxing with an adult show in a separate space. The upstairs lounge area is open on three sides to take advantage of the cooling breezes up on the Bukit and the upstairs balcony is a magical spot for a relaxing cocktail at the end of the day as the villa and garden take on a new and dreamlike aura. The upstairs living area has a large divan, a 42” flat screen TV, DVD/MP3/IPod player, and an exercise bike.

The downstairs living and dining area is open on two sides and has an eight seat teak dining table and adjacent buffet. Separating the dining area from the kitchen is a 4 m long breakfast bar, complete with four bar stools. The downstairs living area is provided with large and comfortable couches, cushions, coffee tables, 42” flat screen TV and DVD/MP3/IPod player. Villa Champa features a fully equipped European style galley kitchen and also has fully equipped service areas, including staff accommodation, kitchen and laundry facilities.

Villa Champa is well equipped for infants with stair gates, a pool fence, cots, high chairs, car seats, plastic cutlery and plates etc. More than that the staff are excellent with kids, and we can provide some day-care and babysitting if adults wish to have an evening out [a small gratuity for babysitting after 9pm is appreciated].

Being up on the Bukit means amazing views out over the cliffs, across the golf course and gives you remarkable sunsets every night. It is a comfortable walk to the local shops and restaurants; however, a car or taxi is required to go most places as it is a much longer walk from the villa to the beaches or to local cultural sites such as Ulawatu. We include a car and driver in the villa rental price for you to get around to visit local attractions or take day tours. Excludes petrol, parking fees, entrance fees, driver overtime after 10 hours at Rp.50'000/hour. The Toyota Avanza seats up to 5/6 passengers. *Departure transfer is available without charge up until 11am*

Villa Champa is just a stones throw from several great beaches; Balangan (15 minutes); Jimbaran (15 minutes) and all other beaches around the Bukit are no more than 20/25 minutes' drive away (Padang Padang; Geger, Bingin, Dreamland etc.). Some beaches are suitable for swimming, others for paddling or surfing or exploring rock pools.

Finally if Villa Champa appears not to be available for your dates, please feel free to contact us as we own and run many villas in Bali, and we may still be able to help you by suggesting other suitable villas or rearranging bookings so as to fit your dates.

We treasure Bali and we love this place and hope you will too! All the best Tom & Rene

About Tom Springall

Our names are Rene and Tom, and although originally from Indonesia and the UK respectively we have lived all around the world as far afield as Azerbaijan and Malaysia. In July 2008 Tom gave up the corporate life and we settled in Bali. Unfortunately it was spectacularly bad timing to try and set up a new life as the Financial Crisis hit, and so we went back on the expatriate road again, this time to Bangkok in Thailand.

Both of us love Bali and have made several trips together here over the years. Tom is a fanatical diver which drew us first to East Bali, where we decided to buy our first villa close to Candidasa and directly on a white sand beach with a great reef directly offshore that was perfect for snorkeling. We named it Villa Talia Vashti after our little daughter (Talia Vashti). We just loved being in that space and so wanted to investigate how we could make a life doing this.

Why Tom Springall chose Badung Regency

We manage Villa Champa on behalf of some friends who are busy working abroad. We love the location and access to the lower Bukit region of Bali. Just a short hop from the airport but a really relaxed and easier Bali experience compared to the beaches of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak. All the beaches of the Bukit are easily accessible and offer a far greater variety and more picturesque options than Seminyak. On top of that Villa Champa is a wonderful property and beautifully furnished and equipped, with upstairs and downstairs lounges - both with Satellite TV (which the main bedroom also has as well) and free broadband internet wifi both upstairs and downstairs.

What makes this villa unique

Great 13 meter lap pool, two TV lounges, pool fence, great views

Superb villa with all the necessary facilities to make our stay near perfect. Clean and tidy villa, lovely home cooked food If required, many nice staff and house managers looking after our needs and great place to have family gatherings. 5 month old baby was spoilt by staff and he adored them all so perfect for us as well. Pool perfect for morning dips with Sun lounges ready for chilling out in Sun. Wi fi very good for posting photos and making all at home jealous. Driver knew area well and safe at his task. Many thanks to all who made this a beautiful holiday.

Lovely place to relax and chill

  • 4 of 5

A well appointed villa, with everything we needed as a family. Beautifully clean and apparently well maintained with excellent friendly service from the staff team. A quiet place to relax and not very near shops etc but having a car/driver was a great asset. I would certainly recommend this property to a friend

Comfortable and Stylish

  • 5 of 5

We're a family of four with two kids of 7 and 9 staying in August 2016. We were really impressed by the high quality fixtures and furnishings in Villa Champa, but more than that, we were delighted by how clean everything was. We did not want for anything, comfort cooling in all the bedrooms including the master bathroom, sockets everywhere, so much storage space, really comfortable beds and furniture. The 3 TVs have a mass of satellite channels to choose from and I could plug my ipod into the music system.

You can see the sea from the balcony and it is a drive to the coast, but this villa is superbly centrally located for access to all of South Kuta. The main road nearby is busy with motorbikes and traffic and we would not recommend walking out of the villa, but Anto, the driver is fantastic. He happily took us all over the place night and day (there is a small overtime surcharge). Anto was so friendly and accommodating, waiting for us to do our thing, no timetable necessary. He also introduced us to local restaurant GaRaSi, which we absolutely loved and wish we had returned rather than make the trip to Rock Bar or El Kabron, which were loud and overpriced.

The rest of the staff were also superb. Breakfast was ready for us as we emerged every morning with a friendly greeting. We also took advantage of the in house dining and babysitting, which were also faultless.

There is a plot of land that is farmed nearby, so you will hear the occasional cow bell and roosters in the morning are a fact of life in Bali, though it didn't bother us. Mosquitoes are also a fact of life, but the owners have gone out of their way to put repellent measures all over the house. It was not a problem.

Drinks and snacks were available at very reasonable rates and were kept well stocked. Laundry was collected and returned within 24 hours, again at really reasonable rates.

Truly, we had such a fine stay at this peaceful haven that we were sad to leave. We have stayed at other locations around Bali that can not compare.

Owner's Response: Hi Richard It’s great of you to take the time to write such a lovely review and we really appreciate all the positive comments you have made about Villa Champa. Thank you for the praise you give our service and the villa itself – it’s great to have such kind words directed at Villa Champa's attention to detail. Anto and the staff will be happy to know that you found the location and facilities at Villa Champa to be so comfortable and easy – I’ll be sure to let them know that their service was well received! We are very sorry for any mosquito annoyances; the open plan nature of the villa means it is fairly impossible to prevent the odd irritant and we do suggest applying a mild repellent cream and longer sleeves if they become active in the evenings. It's great to read through your review and we are delighted that all went well for your stay. It would be our pleasure to have you return to Villa Champa or any of our villas in the future. Our best regards to you.

Villa Champa Ungasan

  • 4 of 5

Privileged to have been able to enjoy this home for the six nights we were there. Very comfortable, surprisingly quiet and lovely breezes enjoyed from the hillside location for the duration of our stay. Staff were very accommodating but kept their distance and the additional cost of services such as additional meals (breakfast was included in the price) and laundry were extremely reasonable. The car and driver (also included) were a blessing and a must given the quite - but not remote - location. Probably spent too much time in the car that would have been better spent with our two young daughters by the lovely pool!

Long and relaxing stay at a secluded villa

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the villa for nearly two months and could enjoy all the facilities and amenities the property and the staff have to offer. This well-maintained property is perfect for families with small kids and toddlers. We especially liked the following details:

- fenced-off pool (so nobody falls into it by accident)

- lovely staff who are very, very good with kids

- since the villa is fully catered, basically everything you might desire is provided by the staff (food, laundry, support with local telecommunication, transport, etc.)

- the car and driver provided with the offer are really handy (whenever you want to go on a daytrip or just go to the beach, just hop into the car and off you go)

- the property is located close to Balangan beach and other great surfing spots like Dreamland, Bingin, Impossibles

Since nothing in life is perfect we also notices a few downsides

- part of the area surrounding the property is farmland, so we (and especially the children) experienced quite a few mosquito bites

- bathrooms were not the cleanes we have ever experienced (example: the sink of the bathroom adjacent to the master bedroom was not cleaned a single time during our stay)

All in all we would definitively recommend this property to anyone with or without small children. It is a great place to stay, to relax or to use as a Homebase for daytrips exploring Bali or surfing the nearby spots.

Owner's Response: Hi Roman - thanks so much for your review of Villa Champa. We are really happy that your family enjoyed a comfortable stay at Villa Champa - and the attentiveness of our staff in delivering a satisfying service and warm daily welcome. We will keep on trying to improve our overall guest service and make a more satisfying all round experience for our future guests. On mosquito problems from the open land nearby Roman – we are very sorry that this was an annoyance to you, and especially to the younger ones. The bedrooms at Villa Champa are fully enclosed and air-conditioned, and most of the year the dry conditions of the Bukit area (where there is no natural running or standing water) mean mosquitoes are not actually that frequent. The open plan nature of the villa means it is fairly impossible to prevent the odd irritant and we do suggest applying a mild repellent cream and longer sleeves during the more insect active evenings. Thank you again for your stay with us, and your kind words about Villa Champa and we do hope to welcome you again in the future to one of our villas."

Nice open air house in Bukit area

  • 4 of 5

Our group of 4 adults and 5 small kids had a very good stay at the house.

Overall we really enjoyed the service : the cooking team is really nice, Anto the driver is perfect. He only brings you where you want to go, never tries to sell you anything unlike most of the drivers we met in Bali during our other trips.

i just found the house manager a bit strict about a misunderstanding on the first day and again when we broke one ikea glass that we had to pay 5 dollars, I found that a bit narrow minded considering the total moeny we spent with them during our stay.

The breakfast is really nice with a lot of choice of fresh food that they cook when you wake up.

Concerning the house in itself just be aware that it is an open concept, the insects become then part of your life especially at dinner time ;o). But I have to say that we liked this natural way of living. And all the bedrooms can close so you can avoid mosquitoes at night.

The rooms are all very clean.

There are some toys for the kids and the house is very well laid out for them, there is a fence all around the pool for example.

2 things missing : an expresso machine and mosquito nets in the rooms.

Owner's Response: "Dear Marie Thank you very much for finding the time to write a review, we really do appreciate it. We do work hard to ensure that we meet and exceed our guest’s expectations and feedback such as yours is really helpful in us doing this. Firstly I would like to really apologise on the confusion when you first arrived at the villa. Our villa manager has not worked with us for very long and her actions were the result some confusion on her part in missing details we had forwarded to her. As you know we sorted out the issue early morning the next day, and we have also spoken to the villa manager, and clarified to her again our procedures for extra guests, and are certain that such confusion will not happen again. On paying for a replacement when your group broke a glass, actually replacing of glasses is much more costly than the five dollars that you were charged as almost always it is not possible to replace like with like, requiring us to purchase another set of 6 glasses to ensure that we continue to have enough for guests. We do make it clear upfront in our rental agreement that we not charge a damage deposit, but that we do expect guests to pay fair replacement value for any breakages or damage, and so we do feel that under the circumstances asking you to pay a nominal amount for the glass you broke is reasonable. On the two missing things you mention, the espresso machine is something we are looking at, and indeed we already have one at two of our other villas, so thank you for the suggestion. On mosquito nets, the bedrooms are fully enclosed and with air-conditioning, and most of the year the dry conditions of the Bukit area (where there is no natural running or standing water) mean mosquitos are not actually that frequent. Given this at the moment we do not feel mosquito nets are required at Villa Champa (although we do have them on the extra bed in the open upstairs lounge). We will though continue to monitor this with other guests. Thank you again for your stay with us, and your kind words about Villa Champa and we do hope to welcome you again in the future to one of our villas."

There are some great local attractions near Villa Champa. Uluwatu Temple which is balanced tantalizingly on the sea cliffs is agreat attraction. The GWK Cultural Centre which has been constructed in an old quarry offers some great cultural perfomances and events.

The New Kuta golf course is just a couple of kilometers from the villa. We are very close to Jimbaran Bay and the great beachside restaurants that deliver exquisite delicious marine fare.

The Bukit peninsular is blessed with some of Bali's most beautiful beaches, Balangan, Padang Padang, Uluwatu (at low tide), Jimbaran and Dreamland. The water colours at Dreamland beach are simply breathtaking.

Villa Champa is just a 20 minutes drive to Kuta with all of its attractions. Seminyak is just a little further on and both these destinations have wonderful shopping opportunities.

Further afield trips to cultural attractions including the palaces at Ubud and Tampaksiring, the many famous temples in and around Ubud including those at Monkey Forest, Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) and many others. For a family day out I would also highly recommend the Bali Safari Park and the Bali Bird Park.
