Why Emma and Andrew Muir chose Nerja area

A 5 minute walk to a secluded beach with great snorkelling (fish swim around you and eat from your hand) yet surrounded to the rear by imposing mountains. The views are stunning.

Great seafood restaurants on the beach a five minute walk away plus the one of the best restaurants in Nerja (according to TripAdvisor) is literally just down the road.

What makes this villa unique

In a quiet area just outside the town, but with all the town amenities close by. Rare for villas, this house has both a large patio area around the pool plus its own private garden with grass and tropical fruit trees. Upstairs, two of the main bedrooms open out on to a balcony terrace where you can sit back and watch the sun set over the mountains and sea (with Gin and Tonic in hand!).

Well maintained villa with everything you could wish for

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a week in Banoo villa. Emma is a joy to deal with and those good vibes carried over to our first impressions. We knew within minutes that we had made the right choice - not always easy in the lottery of villa rental!

No need to repeat other comments other than we hope to return.

Needed for nothing, everything marked up in English to assist

  • 5 of 5

Forget about taking the kitchen sink this place has everything and is well organised. A little out of the way but a nice pleasant walk to Nerja or go the other way and discover 2 wonderful bar restaurants overlooking the sea. If you don't have a car then I would walk into Nerja and get a taxi back if you need to shop, nearest mini market is a bit pricey. Stunning location and beautiful views. Lost power a couple of times but this was down to outside influences. Water pressure drops around tea so shower early or late. Other than that we had a wonderful time.

Thank you.

Owner's Response: Thank your Carl for your kind review, we are so pleased that you and your family had a wonderful holiday and found everything you needed in the villa and locally. We are looking into the water pressure problem which appears to have been caused by a leak in the water mains pipe just down from the villa and it is being fixed. We hope that you come back and stay another time.

Superb Villa, perfect setting by the sea

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Banoo Villa. It's set with majestic mountains behind and a sea view to the front. Beaches are a short walk away. The villa is very well equipped and clean and we enjoyed both the garden and the pool. Highly recommended. We'll be back!

Another lovely trip

  • 5 of 5

Just here for the long weekend to make sure everything is ship shape for the season ahead. Fab weather as usual & everything in the villa is looking great. We tried out a couple of new restaurants and some old favourites. Can't wait to come back later in the year.

Lovely Villa

  • 4 of 5

Had a lovely syay in Banoo Villa it was a well maintained and comfortable villa. The area was quiet and friendly. The villa had all you needed for a stay. There are some lovely restaurants in the area, and Nerja is only a short taxi journey away. The area is quite hilly so a car is a must. All in all a lovely place to stay.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased that you had a great time in Banoo Villa. We think that a car is only needed if you want to go up into the mountains and explore the more rural areas. Most of our guests do not need a car because everything they need for a a good holiday is within walking distance e.g. Nerja Town, excellent beaches, mini-market and local restaurants.

One of the main attractions of Nerja is its coast line. Unlike the other zones of the Costa del Sol, here the mountains reach the shore, forming majestic cliffs between which nestle picturesque coves and beaches. As you travel eastwards, these cliffs become higher and more frequent.

The town its self is situated on a plain surrounded by the rising peaks of the last foot hills of the Sierra Almijara mountain range.

The beauty of these beaches and cliffs make it ideal for holiday makers. The local authorities have imposed a number of limitations on this zone in order to protect it from the impact of mass tourism.

The municipality contains a large number of springs forming rivers and streams. Indeed, Nerja must have had many waterways since the earliest times, for the name of the town during the Moorish occupation was Narixa, which means "abundant spring".

To the west of the town the river Chillar reaches the sea, swollen by the the Higueron and the Seco.

Nerja town centre has preserved the traditional style of the Andalucian village. In many tourist resorts, economic development has taken place and changes have been made in order to accommodate the arrival of mass tourism, transforming the houses and streets of entire towns, and almost always for the worse. Nerja however, has not only conserved its original structure, but all new constructions have been adapted to the traditional Andalucian style of whitewashed houses, windows with grills, roofs with two slopes etc.

The nerve centre of Nerja is the Balcón de Europa, a favourite site with local people and visitors alike. The promenade, flanked on the left by lovely arches and on the right by hotels, bars and restaurants, ends at a semi-circular viewpoint at the cliff-top, commanding magnificent views over the Mediterranean and the surrounding mountains.

Sunset seen from the Balcón de Europa is unforgettable. The promenade is lined with palms and plane trees, and two ancient cannons form a reminder that until 1812 there was a fortress at the top of the cliffs. At the opposite end, turning left, is a square containing the church of El Salvador.

Between the Calahonda and the Carabeo beaches runs the Paseo de Los Carabineros, a delightful natural pathway amongst the rocks of the coastline. Further east are the Jardines de Europa, charming botanical gardens which slope down to the Playa de Burriana.

Nerja enjoys a Mediterranean climate, these benign conditions combine with a number of unique features to bless the area with a splendid climate. The surrounding mountains protect Nerja from the cold north winds, whilst the influence of the sea makes for milder temperatures, both in summer and in winter.

These climatic conditions, combined with the abundance of water, have allowed a rich agricultural industry to grow up here, famous for over one thousand years.

In ancient times, sub-tropical fruits such as sugar cane and the chrimoya were introduced to the area, and in recent times exotic fruits such as papayas, mangoes and avocados have been added to the list. Vegetables such as batatas are also grown here, as well as traditional Mediterranean products like grapes, almonds and olives.

You will find all of this local fresh produce in the town markets and of course in the numerous restaurants.

What is there to do?

As well as enjoying the local food, wine and sunshine we recommend:-

The famous Nerja caves are here and are an absolute must visit and are amongst some of the most spectacular in Europe.

One of the great family adventure days out exploring the national park in the mountains by Landrover. Stunning wildlife and scenery. We will supply details of this organised trip.

A day out on a yacht, with optional watersports and possible dolphin sightings.

Off road 4WD buggy tours in the mountains - great fun!

A visit to the Alhambra palace in Granda and perhaps stay in a cave hotel for a night at Gaudix nearby. Gaudix is an ancient troglodyte town of cave dwellers. Very different!

An evening in a genuine Spanish bar where the locals will spontaneously just get up and sing and dance flamenco to a live flamenco guitarist.

Malaga city is hardly touched by tourists and its a great Spanish city to visit with its 1,000 year old fish, fruit, veg and meat market, museums aplenty and interesting shops.

Visit a "Lost village' in the mountains behind the villa, abandoned in the civil war after Franco killed all the inhabitants. You need a car to get here along some precarious tracks, but its being rebuilt by descendants of the families & the best country cooking in the area can be found in the bar/restaurant there. A different bread is baked daily along with unusual & interesting traditional mountain dishes. A unique experience.

Great snorkelling on a secluded beach just a ten minute walk from the villa. Yes, you really can experience fish swimming around you & eating from your hand.

Details of the above + other ideas are supplied to all our clients.
