What a terrific place. We were greeted at the house by owners Tullio and Paula who were in the process of filling our welcome basket with fresh grapes and figs from the garden. They instantly made us feel at home and went out of their way to ensure that our holiday was a pleasure -- really wonderful people.
We stayed in Capanna, one of several renovated properties on the Tenuta Larnianone estate. There were four of us in three bedrooms and each room had an ensuite bathroom. We were looking for a "Tuscan country house experience" and from inside to out it exceeded our expectations. The views were incredible -- postcard perfect sunrises and sunsets. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our own meals, including several bottles of the wine produced by the estate (we enjoyed it with our dinner). The house was very clean and well maintained. The overall condition was excellent.
A car is highly recommended (a necessity really) but the driving in the area is pretty easy. There is plenty of parking around the Siena city perimeter and it's an easy walk or bus ride to the center of town from there. We parked at the train station for a day trip to Florence (a little over an hour away), and drove to places like Radda, Montalcino, and San Gimignano.
From our first contact with Anna via Homeaway, the attention to detail, organization, and communication were outstanding. The location and accomodation were exactly what we wanted, but it was the geniune hospitatility of our hosts that made it a truly extraordinary visit -- one we'll remember for a very long time. We can't wait to get back!
Capanna is located on a country estate not too far from Siena. We were greeted by one of the owners, Tullio and his wife, Paola, so nice. The estate has vineyards and olive groves and they make their own wine. Very nice and available for purchase. The pool is a short walk from the villa. Capanna is very comfortable and clean with views from every window. It is a short drive in to the little town of Due Ponti to catch the bus to Siena which is just a few minutes away. We had great food at the restaurants they recommended but need to allow for a little travel time. Would definitely recommend Capanna. Had a fabulous time!
We had a wonderful stay at Campana. The house was very comfortable and we lacked for nothing. It is in a beautiful location over looking olive groves and vineyards. The owners are delightful people, able to answer questions about the area and places to visit. We would highly recommend this property for the person that wants to have a restful vacation in the countryside or (like us) the adventuresome group that wants to see Tuscany. The house is in a perfect central location for day trips in the region.
The house was immaculate comfortable and beautiful situated on a working vineyard and olive orchard. Can't recommend this locale or the family owners too highly
Montelisi (now called Capanna) is an ideal place to get a feel for the Tuscan way of life. This beautiful and charming old farmhouse is well-maintained, clean and comfortable. The drive to the home takes you back in time as you pass by countless olive groves, vineyards and old estates. Capanna is situated on a hill with stunning views of the picturesque Tuscan countryside. The secluded spot is so peaceful and inviting that one could happily spend a relaxing week at the house. We could not have hoped for a more gracious, accommodating and helpful host: Anna made sure we felt welcome, were comfortable and had everything we needed. (She also recommended a nearby restaurant: superb dining at Fattoria Le Pietre Vive di Montaperti; the chef is delightful.) We would definitely go back and we give Capanna our highest recommendation. Thank you, Anna!
The house was in a gorgeous and secluded location, surrounded by beautiful olive groves and fields of sunflowers. The views were spectacular. Monteliis was a lovely old house with lots of character; it was well-maintained and had everything we needed. The owners of the property were very friendly, hospitable, and helpful. Strongly recommended
