Relax and enjoy the peace and quiet from our cabin in the woods retreat. 'Camp 51' is a newly remodeled cabin in the center of snowmobile, ATV, hunting, fishing and sightseeing country. Fully furnished cabin with three bedrooms. Sleeps 9 comfortably.
Gas fireplace, satellite TV, phone, undercover sled/boat parking. Direct trail access for both ATV's and snowmobiles, private boat launch on Back lake. Very private location!
We stayed here for the week of July 4th and it was great! The cabin was everything and more that we were expecting. The House Keeper did a awesome job, it was magazine perfect when we first walked in. The kitchen had more stuff in it than mine does at home!!! You will need nothing for cooking, its loaded with everything. Pots/pans, crock pot, toaster oven, baking sheets, plates bowls, utensils ect. They even had stocked toilet paper!!! The trees provided plenty of shade, as i was wondering if the cabin had a/c and it didnt, but it wasnt needed. There was some fans there and that was enough. Its got a nice screened in porch that we played cards at almost every night. BBQ Grill and a grate over the campfire made it easy to cook up some great food! We are atv riders. The only thing it was missing was trail access. No fault of the owners. We did have to trailer our wheelers down to either Moose Pond or Back Lake parking area. It was close, but we like to ride, come back have lunch and go back out agian. It was a pain to load/unload so much. but we didnt let that bug us!! The boat access was within walking distance and there was a canoe there to use, we took that out one night and that was fun. If you are looking for privacy and relaxation then rent this cabin. You can't even see your neighbors and there is a long driveway. Its very quite out there on Gadwah Lane. We will rent this agian and looking forward to it! If you are a snowmobiler.....than you will want to book right away!! U do have access from the cabin to the snowmobile trails. We had a group of 5 and there was plenty of room. Thank You Richard for letting us stay a few more days than we originaly planned. You have a Great place here and we enjoyed every moment of it. The Nelsons
This is our second time staying here. Place is very comfortable and we really enjoy how its set back off the road. A larger shower would be a big improvement though.
Nice comfortable cabin in the woods that my family and I enjoyed, with lots of peace and solitude. The foliage was outstanding and the fire pit provided a place to connect with nature and each other. It was a little too chilly to enjoy Back Lake, but provided a wonderful back drop for photos of some Canadian geese. Thanks again for making your property available for all to enjoy.
Camp 51 is just as the owners describe it. It looked EXACTLY like the picture when we pulled in the drive. Hillary emailed confirmation of our reservation and was helpful and responsive. If you're just looking for a camp to sleep at while you spend most of your time enjoying the trails, this is probably perfect for you. Pittsburg is a very special place and it was great that we were able to bring our dog along.
Most things you need are provided, but there are a few things you should be sure to bring in addition to the list provided by the owners. Bring along a box of kleenex as there is none provided - also, there's no sheet or pan provided if you want to bake or cook anything in the oven. Also worth noting, the distances given to Young's store and The Rainbow Grille are off, be prepared to drive further than expected. Oh, and to get to The Rainbow Grille (and you really should go there, the food and staff are incredible!) drive back to Back Lake Road and turn right, then another right on Beach Road (there's a big sign you can't miss). There's a note on the instructions about not moving the furniture, with respect to that, if you like to relax with a beverage in front of the tv, you can't do it with the way the furniture is arranged - just an FYI. There was no working clock, either, which I suppose only old-school folks without a smart-phone like me probably care about. Oh, and buy wood if you plan to use the firepit
The cabin can sleep up to 9 people but it was just my husband and I so we didn't need any of the upstairs space and I'm glad we didn't as I've got a bit of acrophobia and the steep stairs, open iron railing along with the top of the hall cut out for the stairs had my stomach doing somersaults. The bed in the downstairs bedroom was adequate, but it is only a full size and the mattress is well used. The cheap mattress topper did little to hide the wear. As a side-sleeper I found the pillows on the downstairs bed too stiff, but fortunately I was able to find one I liked on one of the upstairs beds. The bathroom's not set up to accommodate larger people, so if the prospect of having to nearly turn around to reach the toilet paper or barely being able to turn in the small (and dark) shower concern you, this may not be the right place for you.
We experienced a few housekeeping issues, and the owner was apologetic. If you do as well, call her, she'll try to make things right. Overall a good deal for a least minute getaway
thank you for sharing your home with us. it was everything we had hoped and more. we relaxed by the fire every night, and had everything my own home has. we needed for nothing.unfortunately we never saw a moose, but we drove to dixville notch to see the balsams, and Canada for a day. Peaceful,........THANK YOU!!!
We really enjoyed it. No complaints! It was relaxing to stay there. Very clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable, the appliances worked great and having the gas grill made things easy as well. It was in a nice quiet setting but close to where we wanted to be. As I said no complaints. The neighbors were interesting as well... We listened to loons on the lake, owls hooting at night and we had a bear walk up the driveway! We would definitely stay there again!
Located at the headwaters of the Connecticut river, Pittsburg is the outdoor enthusiast dream! Hundreds of lakes, rivers and streams make Pittsburg a fisherman's paradise. Huge timber company land tracts make hunting big and small game easily accessible. Miles of snowmobile trails to Maine and Canada make Pittsburgh the snowmobile capitol of the east.
