About the property

Immaculate barn conversion sleeps 6, pets welcome, hot tub, wood burner & pool

A warm welcome to Church End.

Church End Farm Barn is a converted, handsome, period, red brick detached barn conversion on the edge of the village of Church End in a rural location with access to delightful countryside walks. The stylish and sympathetic barn conversion, took place in 2014 and is located across from the principal house and is set within a private red brick walled garden .

Internally, the property displays the original exposed A- frame beams, and has large glazed panel windows together with traditional arrow slit windows. The three bedrooms have vaulted ceilings, exposed original beams, picture glass panel windows and roof lights. Externally, the barn benefits from an enclosed gravelled courtyard with private gated parking, flat lawns, mature borders and a gated pedestrian side exit out to open countryside which leads down towards the River Avon. To the east the barn is secluded by established woodland.

Church End Farm Barn remains a building of special historical interest. Sporting opportunities in the adjoining village include tennis and five-a-side football, horse riding and there is also a children's play area. The nearby hotel offers a championship standard 18-hole golf course, leisure and recreational facilities, and there is fishing along the River Avon.

Regency Cheltenham, Worcester and Gloucester are only a short drive away. With the Malvern Hills to the west and Bredon Hill to the east, the village sits comfortably between two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and enjoys the wonderful views that they afford.

The picturesque, peaceful village of Church End lies 2.2 miles to the north of the Cotswold town of Tewkesbury. Take a riverside stroll along the River Severn or a boat trip along the River Avon .

Marvel at the 12th-century ceiling in Tewkesbury Abbey, then discover Tewkesbury's famous network of alleyways and the medieval old town where you can explore the 'Vintage and Antiques Trail'. Volunteers from 'Tewkesbury In Bloom' are responsible for the amazing display of flowers which decorate the town during the year. Wander along Tewkesbury High Street and you'll find an eclectic mix of shops, cafes, tea rooms, pubs and bistros and while there, don't forget to try the world famous Tewkesbury Mustard!

Bristol, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and Bath are within easy reach for day trips. Major Cotswold events are held close by throughout the year such as the Badminton Horse Trials, the Cheltenham Races, summer concerts at Westonbirt Arboretum ,Tewkesbury's Medieval Festival and the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford.

Church End benefits from excellent access to the M5 and M50 motorways. Several superb restaurants can be found in local villages and of course, in Regency Cheltenham. Shop, pubs and restaurant within 1 mile.

The outdoor private heated swimming pool is free of charge (late April/ May to early October only) and is available by arrangement with the owners. Normally weekdays between 10am and 4pm from late May/ June to September, as this will allow for cleaning and maintaining of the pool. Hot tub easily accommodates 5 people and is available and exclusive all year round.

About Simon Park

My wife and I live in the adjacent property, Church End Farm with our two children and three dogs.

Why Simon Park chose Tewkesbury District

Why choose Church End Barn? We are single property owners, and this cottage is our own little country retreat, and so is furnished and equipped to a high standard with all the comfort and luxuries we enjoy, and hope our guests will too like high speed Wi-fi, SKY TV, coffee machine, brand new sofas and bedding. We also provide a welcome pack for all our guests (with milk, bread, butter and wine).

The barn was converted by us in 2015 and is a locally listed building of special historic interest. It has exposed boards and Oak beams, and a wood burning stove. It has 3 bedrooms and a hot tub within an enclosed walled garden.

From late April to early October access is provided, by request, to a 40 foot heated private swimming pool in the adjacent property. Access is normally between 10am and 4pm and is not included in the rental price but when available is free.

It is only a short distance from two areas of outstanding natural beauty (Cotswolds and Malvern Hills) and within a easy commute to Cheltenham, Worcester, Bristol and Birmingham.

Church End is situated between the rivers Avon and Severn and benefits from local walks along both river.

The outdoor heated swimming pool only available by special arrangement with the owners. Normally late April - early October weekdays between 10am and 4pm.

Great place, warm welcome

  • 5 of 5

A lovely barn conversion - quiet location with footpath access to Twyning which has a couple of great dog-friendly pubs, shop, and playground for kids. Nice welcome pack upon arrival, and the owners are next door for advice on other restaurants etc. We stayed for a long weekend with friends - we both have babies and a dog. We all had a great time and loved the hot tub.

Beautiful barn, we would highly recommend.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful barn, fitted out with all home comforts. The addition of a hot tub, swimming pool and wood burner together with the welcome extras from the owners was a lovely treat. Thank you for making our stay truly an enjoyable experience. The dog enjoyed his doggie treat as well. We would highly recommend Church End Barn.

Spacious, homely and very welcoming

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely weekend and nothing was too much trouble for Zanneta, one of our hosts, She was there if we needed anything, but other than that, the barn was very much ours for the weekend. When we arrived, there were flowers on the table and a big 50th birthday balloon (my husband,s birthday). I can’t believe how much food they had provided for us, bread, milk, juice, butter and the list goes on. We would take the dogs out for long walks and return to make up the log fire and settle in for the evening. We also made good use of the hot tub. My family live in a busy City, so our stay there was such a contrast and so relaxing. Thank you to our hosts for ensuring that we had a break full of wonderful memories. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay for anyone who wants to get away from it all.

A beautiful, well equiped, modern barn conversion with 3 generous sized bedrooms.

  • 5 of 5

We recently spent a long weekend at the barn for my wife's birthday, travelling with my parents and our 18 month old son.

We had a fantastic time and cannot recommend this property or hosts enough.

The hosts (Simon and Zanneta) are very welcoming and have equiped the barn to an exceptional standard. They were very easy going and provided great communication such as the flexibility of check-in & out times.

When we first arrived Zanneta kindly greeted us, taking the time to show us around the property and recommending some excellent pubs and restaurants such as "the fleet" in nearby Twinning, "salerno's" in Tewkesbury and "the wesley" in Winchcombe (even providing menus which she kindly printed off). They truly went above and beyond as hosts, providing a beautiful card and flowers for my wife's birthday, and would definetly look to stay at their barn again.

The barn is a fantastic size and has all the mod-cons you could wish for such as; underfloor heating, dishwasher, coffee machine, Xbox and Sky TV.

The downstairs has an open planned kitchen, dinning and living room, which was perfect for us... even with a young toddler charging around.

All three bedrooms are a fantastic size, being 1 kingsize bed / 1 double bed & 1 twin room. We found there was plenty of floor space, even with our travel cot placed next to our bed.

The property is child friendly as we found a childgate at the base of the stairs, high chair & travel cot provided.

The garden is very well laid out and hot tub thoroughly relaxing, just wish the weather was a little better.

The location was perfect for us being a 5 minute drive into Tewkesbury.

Thank you Simon and Zanneta we will definetly look to book again.

Kindest regards,

James, Carmel and Harrison

A perfect Cotswolds break

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a weeks stay and can honestly say it's one of the best properties we have ever stayed in. The location is superb, the heated pool and nearby fishing were a huge hit with our party...and we have never met such accommodating owners, nothing was too much trouble. The welcome pack on arrival was such a lovely touch, the house was spotlessly clean. A perfect location for dog walks with plenty of outdoor space. We will definitely be returning to Church End...the children want to go back already! Thank you for a fabulous holiday!

A great place, for a relaxing stay.

  • 4 of 5

This is a great location for everyone, with every need catered for. Whether you are looking to chill out and do very little or a base to explore the area you will not be disappointed. The location feels like it is in the middle of nowhere but is only a couple of miles from the motorway to pop off and explore. 30 minute walks through the fields to local pubs that do great food and drink.

The Barn itself has been kitted out to a high standard and the owners are great, with every item you will need for your stay supplied. The Pool and Hot Tub just add to the location and make it even more enjoyable.

This is a great place for a family break or a long romantic weekend even in the winter snuggled in front of the log burner.

Tewkesbury Abbey

Although the Abbey was founded in 1087 by nobleman Robert FitzHamon, building of the present Abbey did not start until 1102. Built to house Benedictine monks, the Norman Abbey was near completion when consecrated in 1121. Tewkesbury Abbey is one of the most beautiful Norman Abbeys and second largest Parish Church in the country. It houses a fine collection of medieval tombs and monuments, as well as many stained glass windows including the 14th century choir windows and stunning modern glass.

The Severn Ham - Nature Walk & History Walk

The Severn Ham is an ancient water meadow reached via a small footbridge from the centre of Tewkesbury. "Ham" is a old saxon word which meant bend in a river, flood plain or water meadow. The Severn Ham is one of the finest example of the few remaining hams in the UK. Full of wild flowers, birds and insects its a lovely place to take a gentle stroll and enjoy the stunning views across to Tewkesbury Abbey and the Malvern Hills.

The River Severn and River Avon have played a significant part in Tewkesbury's history and two leaflets are available from the Tewkesbury Tourist Information Centre to provide a "guided tour" around the Severn Ham with insights into the social and economic history of Tewkesbury and the wildlife of the Severn Ham.

Sections of long distance footpath routes also run in and around Tewkesbury:

The Gloucestershire Way - stretches 100 miles from Chepstow to Tewkesbury taking in the heart of the north Cotswolds including Winchcombe.
