Winter, summer, spring or fall, renew and revitalize your spirits at Blue Heron Barn. Relive a quieter time and enjoy a hard-earned stay at The Carriage House, originally a barn built in the early 1800´s and lovingly rebuilt on the property. Sharing a hillside view by a restored sandstone farmhouse overlooking the beautiful Blue Heron Pond (for gazing only), you´re surrounded by the solitude of nature and of yourself. The cozy interior includes carefully crafted hand hewn beams and period hardware from an age gone by, blending with modern conveniences like satellite TV and Wi-Fi. The barn features a queen loft bedroom which looks down on an open great room with fireplace and fully-stocked kitchen. The fridge can even be stocked with your favorite foods prior to arrival. After eating, enjoy your coffee on the deck, which overlooks wooded 50 acres, or explore all that Pennsylvania Dutch Country has to offer.

Enjoyed a very relaxing weekend in the carriage house. High ceilings with lots of light and stunning views of wooded lot. Saw deers in the yard in the morning. Awesome kitchen with all the necessary supplies. Only drawback was mattress wasn't soft and temperature varied significantly from lower level to loft.
I grew up 2 miles from Blue Heron Barn and had no idea it even existed! I now live in NJ, a few miles outside Philadelphia. I often mention how much I miss the area where I grew up. When my girlfriends and I were planning a getaway weekend for my 50th birthday, I stumbled upon this listing. Our plan was to return to my "roots" and visit with my family and the quaint and peaceful towns of Lititz, Mount Gretna, and Hershey. Becky was great to deal with in the planning stages.
From the moment we arrived, we started to relax. John greeted us upon arrival, and we felt instantly welcomed. The barn is amazing and charming. We are all very particular when staying away from home, and Blue Heron Barn exceed all of our expectations. The house is inviting and extremely clean - country charm meets modern day amenities. At every turn, we were thrilled with our choice. The peace and quiet hum of nature made us slow down and enjoy our escape from the frantic pace we usually keep. The back deck was the perfect place to catch up on a good book, enjoy a glass of wine, and appreciate the peacefulness of this area. My friends were amazed at the amount of stars that can be seen at night. One friend remarked that she had never been somewhere that was so quiet and relaxing - perfect for taking time to slow down. We'd love to come back in the wintertime. We were imagining how beautiful it would be with snow on the ground. I have already recommended Blue Heron Barn to everyone we spoke to during our visit. I am hoping some of the locals start recommending it to friends and relatives. When it was time to leave, we didn't want to go... a perfect testament to how wonderful a place it really is.
My boyfriend and I took a trip to Lancaster to do some antiquing and stumbled upon this carriage house on homeaway.com. What a wonderful find! I have very high standards when I stay away from home, and this beautiful carriage house met them all. It's cozy but spacious and has all the amenities you could need and want. It's very clean and comfortable. Situated on beautiful, peaceful property. The owner Becky was a pleasure to work with. We originally booked one night and planned to stay at a bed and breakfast for the next night, but practically begged to come back and stay here the second night, after we saw the bed and breakfast. There was no comparison.
Highly recommend this beautifully renovated gem.
The description was very accurate.
Great location. Easy, quck drive to attractions both north (Adamstown for antiquing) and south (Lititz, Ephrata and Lancaster).
Can't wait to go back. Really felt like a home away from home.
What a perfect weekend. We have 9 children and 7 grandchildren and were looking for an escape to a quiet place of peace for our 32nd anniversary, and that is exactly what we found. It snowed some each day we were there, deer came right up to the cabin and meandered across the snow. We stayed in , read, looked out at the snow and took catnaps off and on. Oh how restful, just what we needed. We are looking to return in the summer when all the white will be green. Thanks so much for this great place.- The Wilsons, South Jersey Shore
Our family (4 adults) chose the Carriage Barn for a unique, memorable Christmas in a year when we all needed a restful change of pace. The online photos and descriptions were completely accurate, and we felt right at home from the moment we pulled up. John's warm friendly welcome made us feel like friends and Becky's tasteful Christmas decorations added a special touch. Everything was right at hand for a fully restful, peaceful, enjoyable winter retreat. The deer, rabbits, owls, birds, and "perfect Christmas morning snow" added to the memorable time. We are eager to return in other seasons to enjoy this beautiful barn, our new friends, and its lovely surroundings.
My husband and I had a great time staying in this beautifully renovated barn! We had a long stay (11 nights) and enjoyed every minute of it! The barn is equipped with everything you might need. It is quiet and private, and is in a lovely country setting, yet close to all the sights you may want to visit in the area. We spent lazy mornings there and then headed out to lunch and to explore. We recommend
this location for those wanting to visit pa dutch country or those just wanting to escape to a beautiful and serene spot!
Blue Heron Barn is located just north of Lititz in the heart of scenic Lancaster County, PA. Historic Lititz is renowned for antique stores, boutiques and restaurants. It is also home to the Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, the nation's oldest, and the Wilbur Chocolate Factory. We are within a half hour's drive of Lancaster's outlet shopping, farmers' market and Amish attractions as well as from the storybook lakeside village of Mt. Gretna. Hershey, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC all are easy day trips from this convenient yet idyllic location.
