The suite is located in a small private marina in the boating area of Amsterdam. The street has various nice restaurants where you can have breakfast and/or dinner. Stroll down the street for a nice evening walk and look at the amazing large villas.
The house is good located for visiting Amsterdam and Utrecht. Amsterdam can be reached in 15 minutes by car. The airport Schiphol is only 22 minutes.
The nearest train station is Abcoude with free car park and the bus station is in front at the street.
Even before I arrived, Kristien was very helpful in instructing me how to get there and her check in time was flexible due to my delayed flight. She greeted me at the gate and was extremely friendly and informative about all the ways to get around Vinkeveen and Amsterdam and things to do.
The boathouse itself was one of a kind. A long room with the beds on one end and the kitchen area on the other, with a long white table between. The room is filled with fun and colorful artwork that were done by local artists. It definitely gave the room a vibrant feel to it.
Vinkeveen is a beautiful town and my friends and I had a great time walking along the water and through the little town. It's also very conveniently located next to the bus stop that can take you to Amsterdam Central.
One thing to keep in mind is that the bathrooms are in a separate room, about a two minute walk away from the boathouse. It's a little strange at first, but once you get used to it, it's a bit like glamping (glamorous camping). At least the bathroom is heated, which was a god send in the cold winter weather.
Overall, we had an excellent time and I hope we can make it back in the spring or summer time when the little marina comes to life.
