About Hermione Owen

When the family started to expand (grandchildren) and our children expressed regret the tiny holiday house we shared was too small for us all we decided to look for the alternative place for family holidays - this was not an easy task. We feel so very lucky to have found En Olivier with its panoramic views and be able to enjoy the stunning countryside and take advantage of all the culture and history here on our doorstep.

Hermione Owen purchased this farmhouse in 2004

Why Hermione Owen chose Tarn

When I first saw the house in all its ruins I had a powerful feeling that we belonged here and that this was a very special moment. We now spend six months of the year in this little piece of Heaven. For some of this time we entertain artists who like to come and paint the beautiful views and in the school holidays the family invade. It has the most relaxing atmosphere, the house and the gardens are quiet and peaceful, full of birds and wildflowers. It is a very happy place.

What makes this farmhouse unique

There is a belief that when looking for a home that the house will speak to you. There is no doubt this one did. In spite of the fact that the majority of the house was a ruin with the goat, pig and cow stalls all a part of it - the beautiful warm colours in the stone walls and the original oak beams (one with the date 1797) and the atmosphere of peace made me feel so calm and content.

There is a view from every window. There are plenty of places to walk and always things to do in the area whether it be The Chocolate Factory in Lisle -sur-Tarn for the children or The Bemburg Collection in Toulouse, the Cathedral in Albi and the Toulouse Lautrec Museum or hiking in the Montaigne Noir. What more could you want.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for a great week at En Olivier. I felt wonderfully looked after in your beautiful home-combined with fabulous landscape and better weather than we have had all year.

I’m still missing those wonderful salads and the delicious nibbles that accompanied every beverage. Also I was very pleased with the accommodation.

A wonderful place to relax!

  • 5 of 5

You drive through a small hamlet and the house is at the at the end of the road set in beautiful countryside with amazing views in most directions. It has been beautifully restored and is full of character. Large rooms throughout retain their country charm. All were spotlessly clean. The facilities far exceeded expectations and help was always at hand to deal with any queries or problems. Outside, there were choices of where to eat or catch the sun. The grandchildren loved the pool which was surprisingly warm and the garden was great for exploring. They also enjoyed the suggested walks, an excursion to the lac near Revel and pony trekking not far from the house. Main shopping and supermarkets were a 20 minute drive.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to my friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this beautiful country house. The views are spectacular and the house is equipped to a very high standard. There is a lovely swimming pool set in tranquil gardens. It is a wonderful venue for a family gathering with attractive sitting rooms and a large kitchen for informal eating.

Pefect for a peaceful and relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at En Olivier last summer for the second time. The location is spectacular, with wonderful views and a large, prettily planted and charming garden leading down to the swimming pool overlooking the valley. The house was beautiful; clean and comfortable, a very elegantly furnished home. The sunsets were unforgettable and we had wonderful weather throughout our stay. Definitely worth a trip to Revel on market day. I'd love to go back to En Olivier and would recommend anyone to stay there.

Delightful Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in this beautifully renovated farmhouse on many occasions and are always eager to return. It is a very comfortable and spacious property set in extensive grounds in a quiet location, not overlooked, but close to interesting towns, villages and scenic undulating landscape. It is well equipped with everything you need and will meet all your requirements for a perfect holiday.

Blissful holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place to get away from it all, while being reasonably close to decent towns, such as Albi and Toulouse.

Stunning, very well-equipped house, with a lovely homely feel. Extremely tastefully decorated. Ideal for a family holiday, with lots of different areas to eat or read your book, great (hilly walks), incredible views, swimming pool.

Wonderful holiday!
