Private 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house with pool adjoining river and vineyards

A 240 year old stone farmhouse on two levels that has been renovated to a high standard to be enjoyed as a relaxing retreat, privately situated between two villages in the middle of the most verdant part of Provence - Le Var. The main bedroom with ensuite is downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs. There is a brand new kitchen and two well appointed living rooms. The outdoor dining area has views over the vineyards to the local hills and mountains, and "La Bresque" river runs along one side of the property. There is a fenced swimming pool and lawn and garden for relaxation. A small field that is also part of the property is regularly used for games of Boules. The property is private from two nearby neighbours. The local managers, Susanne and Christian, are on hand to provide you with advice about local facilities and to assist if something requires attention.

About Lars Ford

Purchased by the Ford family in 1993 and used for retirement living during the European summer. This beautiful house has now been passed down a generation and is now being made available for summer rental between May and October.

Why Lars Ford chose Entrecasteaux

We fell in love with this property many years ago simply because we thought it was perfect as a semi-rural retreat in the most beautiful part of Provence. This is a thick-walled stone farmhouse that is 240 years old. It sits along a lane from the main road between two villages and is next to the "La Bresque" stream there is adjoining land to the left and right side of the house, and a lovely garden, outdoor dining and swimming pool in a terrace area at the front of the house. Views are over local vineyards to distant hills. The location is very private as the property is raised above the local access road that passes by the front. The house, which our family purchased in 1993, has been continually improved, and provides a high level of amenity and comfort.

They live locally and can be contacted if something in the house needs attention, but also for advice about markets and other activities in the area. Please note that the property has a telephone line, but does not have wifi/internet. Mobile wifi is readily available in most of the nearby towns and villages.

A wonderful house in a beautiful location

We loved staying in this beautiful, characterful home in a peaceful, green area of the Haut Var.

There is a huge amount to do in the area - in a week we barely scratched the surface.

The house worked very well for our family of 4. We had friends staying locally and enjoyed being able to host them comfortably at the house, enjoying the pool, terrace and comfortable sitting and dining room areas inside the house. It felt like a privilege staying in what is clearly a much loved family home.

We particularly appreciated the welcome of goodies in the fridge and generous sharing of store cupboard basics, all which made self-catering that much easier.

Now we are enjoying the local wine, soaps, olive oil and vinegar on our return.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The world is a big place so we're not much up for repeat visits, but we'd be tempted to return to Belsize and this area of Provence, we had such a lovely time.

Lovely and relaxing

We had a great stay thank you. The house was very comfortable and provided everything that we needed. Our boys aged 5 and 8 loved the pool. We enjoyed a fun canoe adventure just outside of Entrecasteaux and so many markets, we weren't able to attend them all!

Beautiful location and very peaceful.

My wife, myself and our two spaniels had a wonderful holiday at Belsize. Being able to walk through the vines and woods and then coming back for a swim was blissful. The house and gardens were just what we wanted and Susanne and Christian Foell most helpful and friendly.

We love Provence and it is very likely we will come back again. Thanks.

We loved this property, very relaxing and feels like a large home away from home. The garden is typically Provence with views over the neighbouring vineyards.

The pool was sparkling clean and we had to drag the kids away when we wanted to see all the little villages in the surrounding areas.

Beds are comfortable and bathrooms spotlessly clean.

Kitchen is brand new and well equipped. Tea, coffee, sugar and some staple cooking spices are provided. An Intermarché supermarket is found at nearby Salernes.

Wunderschön war unser Urlaub in diesem schönen, geräumigen, geschmackvoll eingerichteten Haus. Toller, idyllischer und gut gepflegter Garten. Den Pool haben unsere Kinder ganz besonders genossen. Ruhiges und idyllisches Plätzchen, wir kommen gerne wieder.

The house is in a rural setting next to La Bresque river with lovely views across vineyards and local hills. Situated between Entrecasteaux (3 Km) and Salernes (4km), the area is known for natural beauty and is in the most lush part of Provence. Entrecasteaux itself is an ancient historical village with the centrepiece Chateaux built from the 11th century onwards.

All of the surrounding villages are very attractive, typically located around hilltops or other parts of the countryside that have historically strategic locations. These villages have incredible histories and churches/buildings to be discovered, markets and restaurants to be enjoyed, and many cultural and musical performances held during the summer months. There are many natural walks in the area.

Entrecasteaux is also perfectly placed for accessing the rest of Provence/Cote D'Azur. Within an hour south-east is the French Riviera (Cote D'Azur) with Mediterranean beach resorts of St Tropez, Nice and Frejus. An hour to the north of Entrecasteaux is the famous Gorges Du Verdon. Avignon, Marseille, Toulon and Aix-en-Provence are also close enough for easy day trips.
