Notes
- All linen is provided within the quoted prices. A cot is available at no extra charge. A fully compliant pool fence is fitted and we have tried to make the cottage child friendly. There is a wooden stairgate fitted at the top and bottom of the hard wood stairs for the safety of children and to encourage our 4 legged guests to stay downstairs. We have just fitted handrails in the shower in the annexe although need to point out that there are a couple of steps into and around the cottage.

A beautiful, peaceful, comfortable and remote farmhouse - nothing to disappoint
We had a really enjoyable and relaxing week here. The pool, patio and table tennis table were very well-used by everyone; especially the 18 - 20 years olds. Nikki (neighbour) was very friendly and helpful with suggestions of places to visit and Alan (the owner) called to check that everything was OK; we were very well looked after. We loved canoeing at Brantome – the river was quite low which meant we had to get out and help the boats over the weirs but that just added to the fun (make sure you wear suitable footwear!). The limestone caves nearby are worth visiting although rather commercial. The area is stunningly beautiful and extremely peaceful with lots of wildlife to spot. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend to large or small families - everything is perfect.
A characterful peaceful cottage with a great pool and lovely garden.
We had a brilliant holiday in this property, it suited our needs perfectly; four bedrooms, lots of space, superbly equipped, refreshing pool with safety fencing, great table tennis table. Owner Alan is so lovely, he called on our first day to check everything was ok, a lovely touch!
It was our first time to this region and we loved it!
The perfect away from it all retreat.
The more than adequately equipped property is set in a small hamlet in the middle of the countryside. Wi-Fi, Private pool, large garden, BBQ, Cycles and a large patio are only a few of the attractions of this cottage. Plus Cable TV, (though I doubt this would have been watched were it not for the world cup). It is also a bird watchers paradise.
The local hamlet Puydoyeux houses some of the friendliest people you could hope to meet. Sue, Nikki and the French couple (sorry forgot their names) could not have been more hospitable helpful and welcoming.
It is an ideal setting off point to many attractions and places to visit, though some were a little further than we anticipated. However, Brantome, Hautefort Chateau, St Jean du Cole (One of the prettiest villages in France) and Jumiliac to name but a few are all close at hand. Plus the many lakes some of which have their own “beaches”. Not to forget the markets which are held somewhere on most days.
Most of the local villages are well equipped with super restaurants. Several supermarkets are only a 20 minute drive away.
Alan the owner has provided as much information about the region and there are leaflets and books available to find your way around and to meet most tastes.
Return stay in this beautiful farm house
This is the only time I have returned to the same holiday location a second time.
Having shared a wonderful holiday with my family here I wanted to share this treasure of a house and locations with my husbands family.
The house is a great location for a family holiday with the added bonus on a pool.
The garden is beautifully tranquil overlooking the French countryside.
Highly recommended
Superb 2 weeks in a lovely cottage
We have just returned from a superb 2 weeks holiday in this lovely cottage. The weather was great if maybe a little too hot! 37 degrees at times. So the cool pool was a godsend during or at the end of a long hot day.The cottage itself had everything we needed. A large kitchen and great living room, with room for everyone and a big enough table outside where we ate on our nights in. English TV, wi-fi and plenty of books and games, and table tennis all got well used. The local town of St Saud has a nice pattiserie, handy local shop and a bar which is nice to sit out in on the small square and have a drink or fairly cheap meal. Most other restaurants or attractions are a 15-30 minute drive but so much of eaither that makes the drive worthwhile. Very quiet roads. We went Canoeing in Brantome, went to market in Brantome on the Friday, an especially lovely town, cycling in Chalus on the old railtrack, zip wire at Nontron. Be aware though that dont exactly sign post all the attractions very well so you need eagle eyes or someone who can ask for directions in French!! Good food in many places locally, Champs Romain, Brantome, St Saud etc. Family of 8 with 4 older kids and a great time was had by all and all things being equal we would love to go back again.
Very relaxing, fabulous house and location
2 families of 4 staying for a week and we had a cracking time. We drove down from Calais and arrived later in the afternoon of the Saturday. We were fortunate to have an Indian Summer type of week and spent the time in shorts and tees. Lots of local attractions and places to visit. Thoroughly recommended and we will come back.
Thank you, I cannot claim credit for the weather but it is great to hear of people relaxing and enjoying their time at the cottage.
Map
Set in a hamlet above the valley of the River Dronne Puydoyeux is a 2km walk from the village of St Saud La Coussiere. The house is well placed for visits to Brantome, Perigueux and the medieval towns of Sarlat & Beynac. There are a number of weekly markets in the towns around the region and the town of Limoges is only 1 hour away.
