Lovely Villa In A Quiet Location
Villa was as expected from photographs & information. Lots of room/space for an extended family to spend time and rest. Sarena was a great help and always available for friendly advice. If you do not want to hire a car but still need to get out and about, ask about Alberto who provides a personal private hire service - wonderful !
Villa Virago - Incredible Sardinian Jewel
Villa Virago is a hidden jewel that provided us with an amazing 10 day holiday. Wanting a spacious, picturesque setting for our Sardinian holiday, myself and my wife were totally charmed by Villa Virago and it’s owner Sarena. It’s spacious white walled interior and exterior is complemented by a fashionable interior. An open spacious kitchen/cooking area (fully kitted out) suited us greatly. The living room area is cleverly linked to the outside seating area via large windows which can be opened up to join the areas up. The pool was perfect for cooling off in its large decked area, and the outside dining table was a treat, beautifully set in the greenest of green gardens. The upstairs bathrooms are stunning in their designs, with huge showers and excellent design and attention to detail. We loved them. The Villa itself has a small beach at the end of the small lane it sits in. It’s probably too small for most but simply walk 5 minutes down the road (or literally wade ankle deep via the sea) towards the Perd’e Sali Marina and there sits a larger, quiet beach with shallow water extending at least 100 metres. We went here a couple of times when we didn’t fancy driving and it was perfect.
Villa Virago is just a couple of kilometres from Pula which is a lovely small Sardinian town with a bustling town square area with numerous restaurants. We ate here a few times and it never disappointed. As well is this the Villa is no more than a half hour drive from some of Sardinia’s best beaches at Chia and especially (for us) at Tuerredda. Sarena was also happy to provide advice on picturesque drives down the coast we could take.
I can’t praise Villa Virago enough for it’s stunning visuals, amenities and it’s quiet (but accessible) location. The villa’s guest handbook offers you all the advice you need on what to do in Sardinia and Sarena helped us when we weren’t sure of anything. It is an incredible venue that would suit a couple wanting a quiet but luxurious retreat, or larger groups of families and friends. All 5 bedrooms mean that the Villa Virago offers all kinds of holiday possibilities for us again in the future.
Wow. Just Perfection
We arrived at Villa Virago on 20th September and our host Sarena was in the villa waiting for us to get us checked in. She had done some shopping for us which was much appreciated and checked us in effortlessly.
The Villa is absolutely beautiful and cannot be faulted at all. There are mosquito nets across all windows to stop the little bugs getting in, the facilities are beautiful and we were made to feel right at home.
There is air conditioning throughout as well as fans in each room. There is a dishwasher in the kitchen and washing machine in the outhouse should you need to use it.
We made use of the beach as well, the private beach is a little overgrown but we walked through the sea 20 metres and within seconds were on a big sandy open beach with never any more than 6 other people on it, this is close to the marina for facilities and lunch requirements.
We made use of the nearby beach bar for breakfast which was perfection (I need more cream croissants in my life!).
Sarena was the perfect hostess and could not be faulted she was knowledgable, friendly and on hand for anything we needed. The villa and entire holiday was exactly what we needed and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. In fact, we have booked for our entire family to join us there next summer and cannot wait to show them Sardinian life. Thank you Sarena and all at Villa Virago it was utter bliss. xxx
Fabulous spacious villa with great decor
We had an amazing week at Villa Virago. We came with our two children (11 and 7). It’s our third visit and each time it just gets better and better. The outside area is perfect for the girls. They enjoyed the gorgeous shady garden and playing endless games in the pool. The villa was spotlessly clean and Sarena (the owner) offerered us the opportunity to have it cleaned each day while we were out, which we jumped at. The rooms were spacious, cool and beautifully decorated. We discovered the wonders of the Sardinian countryside which was a short drive away. Sarena gave us lots of fab tips for places to visit that were lovely and quiet. There is also a great little beach bar within walking distance that we and the kids love. I would highly recommend this as a great family holiday destination.
Beautiful villa, perfect for holidays with children
We loved our stay, Sarena, the owner has thought of so many nice details at the villa. We were a party of 11, 5 of which were small children. They loved the garden and the pool in which they could stand. We had Gianpaolo cook a delicious Sardinian meal for us which was great. Lots of beautiful non touristy beaches nearby, we really enjoyed our stay.
Villa Virago is perfectly located for a family holiday. The small, gated private beach (for the exclusive use of just 14 properties on the street) is just 100m away with the sandy public beach just a few metres further on.
Also within walking distance is the friendly, relaxed little marina of Perd'e Sali 750m away. There you'll find a coffee bar (perfect for breakfasts or evening aperitifs), a gelateria (ice cream shop), restaurant (great steaks and pizzas) and a tobacconists. There's also a kayak hire centre, a dive centre and boat hire all still at the marina.
The buzzing town of Pula is 4km away and offers a host of great restaurants and shopping opportunities as well as live concerts in the town square over the summer.
For the young (and the young of heart) the BluFan water park is 4.5km awayand offers a great day out. Alternatively, head to the Is Molas golf resort (7km) or the riding centre in the village (1.5km) if you're feeling sporty.
Beach wise, you're spoilt for choice as Nora (also home to the ruins of the Roman capital of Sardinia) is 8.5km away, and between 15-20 minutes drive you also have the famous beaches at Santa Margherita, Chia and Tuerredda.
Cagliari, Sardinia's principal city is just 35 minutes drive away
A car is not essential for your stay here as the beach and local facilities are easily accessible by foot. We are also happy to offer a supermarket shopping and delivery service for a small additional charge. However, the local area is so beautiful it would be a shame not to get out and explore it for at least a few days, so we would reccommend car hire to our guests

I spent over a decade working in the luxury travel business before giving it all up to dedicate myself to the renovation and management of my own dream villa, Villa Virago. I am passionate about Sardinia, design, antiques, recycling and great holidays... all of which I hope comes through in the Villa Virago experience for my guests.
Sarena purchased this Villa in 2015
Why Sarena chose Sarroch
I have been in love with the Pula area of Sardinia for several years now and for a few years had been looking for the right villa in the area to renovate and offer as a holiday rental. When I first visited Villa Virago, it was love at first sight and I decided within minutes that I had finally found my dream villa... just days later the paperwork was completed and I was handed the keys. I loved the architecture with it's curving turrets outside and that amazing granite spiral staircase that dominates the living areas. The luxury of a private beach for the occupants of our street was just too good to miss; I have never before or since seen a villa in Sardinia that could offer something like that, especially 100m away. The villa needed a lot of TLC when I first saw it as it hadn't been renovated since it was built in the 1970's so I rolled up my sleeves and set to work over a 12 month period with an amazing team of volunteers found via the Workaway site. This was a real labour of love and such an amazing learning process, and seeing my dream for what the villa could become slowly take shape was one of the most satisfying experiences of my life. Not only did we install a pool, new floors, refurb two bathrooms and add a third, add a brand new kitchen, lay a new lawn and completely rewire but we also hand sourced and created 90% of the furniture from fleamarkets and antique shops making the villa totally unique and stylish. To have been selected as one of the "Best 50 Villas in the Mediterranean" by The Times in February 2017 was more than I could possibly have hoped for when I first started the project. I love Villa Virago... and I can't wait to have you here to visit and see what you think!
