Gorgeous seclusion
We stayed a full month at Anne and Eric's little cabin nestled in the Vermont woods and found it to be the epitome of rustic elegance. We found Anne and Eric to be the perfect hosts... helpful and responsive (they live a quarter mile up the road) when we had a question, knowledgeable about local events and hiking trails, but not intrusive in any way. Highly recommended if you need a place on the road less traveled.

Just perfect
This is the most charming little cottage. Perfect size for two people. Airy, bright, clean, well-appointed. Great location just off Roxbury Gap, convenient to Warren and the Mad River Valley. Anne is welcoming and has great recommendations. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful get-away
This cabin is the perfect mix of being quiet and secluded yet close enough to enjoy plenty of outdoor activities, restaurants and VT charm. Cabin was very clean and well appointed including a couple of wonderful personal touches. Anne met us to make sure everything was ok and shared some great info on local activities, markets and restaurants including a farmers market where we were able to buy fresh local produce for dinner one evening. Perfect place for a relaxing and/or romantic getaway!

About the host

Hosted by Anne and Eric

Host profile image
Eric has been on the property since he left corporate legal practice in 2012 and moved to Vermont where he is currently in the music and entertainment business. During ski season, you will find Eric running sound at Sugarbush on Saturdays at both Castle Rock and Rumbles.

Anne left her Waldorf-inspired, European style toy store in Boston and joined him in July of 2017. They were married on the property by the Yoga Hut just down the hill from the cabin.

Eric is one of those jack-of-all trades types, which is actually a necessity for off-grid living in Vermont. He’s more than happy to discuss the technical trials and tribulations of reliable, comfortable and enjoyable off-grid living.

Anne was born and raised in Paris, France. She moved to Boston in 1989, where she went to undergraduate and Law School; but she still speaks fluent French and has that cute little accent! She enjoys gardening, knitting, crafting, making preserves, making herbal and medicinal remedies and beauty products and raising her teenage daughter.

Please note that Anne and Eric are maintaining the property as a preserve and that there is no hunting or fishing allowed. Our policy is to be mindful and kind, leave nothing but footprints.

Why they chose this property

Our cabin offers the unique experience of living off grid with all the comfort modern life has to offer. The cabin is situated near a brook, and surrounded by mountains, and a 3 minutes walk from our home. We live on the land (yet you will not see our house from the cabin) so we are always available to assist you on a minutes notice, and make unique local recommendations. You will have all the privacy you need and feel right at home while sipping your complimentary wine and local breakfast.

What makes this property unique

We are only 20 minutes away from Sugarbush and Mad River Glen Ski Resorts.
Being in the mountains and not quite in town will shield you from the city noise and night lights and will allow you to discover the magic of the night sky with the Milky Way. The fireflies are abundant in the summer, and during the winter months, there is magic is noticing the foot prints left in the snow by the moose, deer and other animals living on the property.
While there is a propane heater, the magic of heating the cabin with the wood stove is unprecedented.
Guests are invited to explore the property during their stay. It is perfect for snow shoeing, and cross country skiing as well.
Finally, I provide breakfast to our guest for their first morning arrival: Local eggs, croissants, orange juice, coffee and tea, pancake and waffle mix (with a waffle maker) and of course local maple syrup and home made jam.
