About this property

Situated in the heart of the Wye valley, Old Forge Cottage offers the perfect location for your countryside escape. Our spacious cottage offers you the comfort of a double bedroom with an adjoining bathroom and a twin bedroom with an en-suite shower and toilet. A small kitchen. As well as this we offer a comfortable living area with log burner for those cosy winter evenings. We are ideally situated for walking and cycling. With many local attractions nearby you will be greeted with an abundance of opportunities to explore he area. The historic cathedral towns of Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester are all situated within an hour's drive.

There is ample parking outside the property but more is available if needed. We have a car-port area that can be used for storage of cycles and other outdoor equipment. We can provide a travel cot and high chair if requested, please let us know at the time of booking. The cottage is all on one level with only a small lip on the threshold to the property.
All bedding and towels are included. A simple welcome pack is also provided on arrival.

We have a strict no smoking policy for the cottage.

We welcome dogs all year round but please do contact us if you wish to bring a dog.

Pay for what you get!

We booked this house because, at the time of booking, our friends were on a tight budget. The house was cold on arrival, but the open plan living room soon warmed up when stove was lit. There was a good supply of logs to see us through the evening. The bedrooms remained on the chilly side and the en-suite shower room stayed cold the entire stay. Some pillows and towels (not generous size) were past their best. Kitchen is equipped with bare minimum. After two people had showered, we had to wait an hour or so before pump kicked in again for a further shower. Cottage is reasonably priced and is handy for both Hereford and Ross on Wye. Communication with owner was good.

Dog Friendly Character Cottage

We stayed for a short visit. Friendly and helpful host and a characterful cosy accommodation with everyone you need for a stay. Good access to Ross on Wye and Hereford and friendly locals. We really welcomed the wood burner even though the heating was great

Nice cottage

Lovely cozy spacious cottage home made scones cream/ jam on arrival and fresh cows milk in the fridge. Clean and tidy and everything you need for a nice few nights that we Stayed. Top it all a lovely part of the country as well. 👍👍👍👍

Rural relaxation

Spacious (very) dog friendly cottage adjacent to the owners’ smallholding with access to paths around their interesting grounds. Relaxed and friendly owners offering helpful advice. A good base for visiting Hereford and Ross on Wye. We also visited Symonds Yat; lovely walking routes, picturesque setting along the river.

My husband and I live next to the cottage, we have 14 acres of land which also has a livery yard so there are horses on site. We have a young daughter who likes to help out around the property. We have a dog, cat and 10 chickens which all keep us busy. Onsite we also have a livery yard with not only horses but also a donkey.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the area when we were house hunting, we love the views across the surrounding fields. The property has so much potential we just had to buy it!! Everyone who comes to stay loves the property layout and the views are amazing!

What makes this property unique

Free range eggs available from our very own rescue chickens. Beautiful walks around the property and surrounding area. Great access to all the surrounding areas: Breacon beacons, Cotswolds, South Wales, Hay-on-wye and all of Herefordshire.
