great accommodation
The cottage was very comfortable, well equipped and tastefully decorated. It is a convenient distance from Inverness and in a lovely woodland setting where wildlife wanders around the garden.

Good for a couple
Do yourself a favor and pick up some cheese at Connage Highland Diary Cheese Pantry (5 min from Inverness airport), and a bottle of wine before coming to this cottage. Kitchen is a must for us. We baked our own bread on the cottage, and paired it with wine and cheese... that will give you the idea. Be prepared to hear zip, zero, nothing, nada... achieved absolute mental reset in this cottage. Did a 5 mi run (round trip) to the gen store. Bring reflective gear if you are a runner. Morning bird chirping: good for a birder. You will get native species if you bring binoculars. Nice and tidy, cozy bedroom. Very practical for all the towns upto Lossiemouth and distilleries. Dont drink and drive: you will have to drive thru very tight spaces. Scott is wonderful, he chimed in upon arrival, appreciated the shortbread box: what a nice gesture. Would stay here again Brgds Daniel

Tranquil retreat
A lovely cabin in a peaceful location. Our host Scott greeted us on arrival - the cake was an appreciated welcome gift. Scott filled the feeders for birds and squirrels of which we saw many. The cabin was well equipped and cosy. Also a great location for the Cairngorms, Loch Ness and we even travelled to Fort William to climb Ben Nevis. On our first day we enjoyed a short evening stroll down to Loch Farr - stunning and peaceful. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Perfect Country Setting
The cottage is located in the country about a half an hour’s drive from Inverness. A lot of thought went into the construction of the cottage and it is amply equipped and has a nice feel to it for a relaxing and quiet stay in the countryside. There is a very nice park just across the road that has some very nice trails. Scott is a great host and promptly responded to all of my inquiries. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

Great property in a lovely location
The property is very cosy and comfortable, and very well equipped. It has a very comfortable bed, a great shower and stays very warm even in the cold and damp of a Scottish summer! The outside area is full of wildlife, with regular red squirrel visits and countless bird species. Across the road from the property is a lovely wooded area with various signposted walks of between 20 and 50 minutes. We walked daily and on two occasions saw red deer close to the path. All in all, a wonderful week.

Hello my name is Scott MacDonald and I have been letting self catering holiday accommodation to holidaymakers for more than 25 years. My first property was a house close to the shores of Loch Lomond in Scotland which I successfully ran for almost ten years until I moved overseas. I then bought an old farmhouse outside the city of Granada in the south of Spain which I let for almost 15 years during which I also purchased a property in Bali, Indonesia. I relocated back to Scotland in 2013 and purchased a piece of land near Inverness where I built a home for my family. I later decided to build the cabin which I completed towards the end of 2015.

Why they chose this property

Visiting this area for the first time in 2012 we were impressed by the combination of beautiful Highland scenery and the relative closeness of Inverness. At around 250m above sea level and surrounded by woods and hills Strathnairn has the feel of a much more isolated location but is in fact within very easy reach of the city. This is not such a common combination in the Highlands of Scotland with many of the popular destinations being far off the beaten track. This combination of city and rural works extremely well and many guests seem to agree.

What makes this property unique

This is a beautiful timber clad, contemporary cabin surrounded by mature Scots pines, larches, oaks and silver birches in a truly rural environment yet is only 15 minutes from Inverness. A rather unique combination in our opinion.
