About this property

Beach Cottage Collingwood

Beach End is a peaceful sunny beach front holiday cottage privately set amongst native bush with beautiful sea views and plenty of bird life. Beach End is a ten minute walk to Collingwood village with cafes, a pub, and Farewell Spit Safari Tours. It is a real bach. The kitchen and lounge are open plan with french doors opening out to a deck and private garden. There is an outside dining table on the deck a stones throw from the sea. There are curtains separating the double bedroom from the lounge and the second bedroom has a loft bed and two single beds. The bathroom has a shower and toilet and sink. There is a very warm cozy fire for winter evenings.

Beach End has a wild, untamed garden and a lovely deck for resting on. It is located a short walk from Collingwood township with cafes and a pub and supermarket. It is a ten minute drive to the famous cafe/pub The Mussel Inn where there is locally brewed beer and live music. It is a half hour from Takaka where there is a movie theatre, medical centre, library, market, local produce, and art galleries and shops.

The beach is tidal and at low tide you can collect cockles in the channels. You can walk along the beach towards Milnthorpe Park and explore the trails there or walk to Collingwood and have a coffee and breakfast at the Courthouse Cafe, fish and chips or an evening meal or pizza. There are kayaks to rent in Collingwood. The Safari Tour leaves from Collingwood for tours of Farewell Spit and the Gannet Colony. Walk to the historic cemetery or drive up the valley and have tea and scones at the Historic Langford Store and walk amongst old gold relics along the way.

The best thing to do at Beach End is to open the french doors and sit and watch the tide come in slowly over the sand flats, watch the moon rise out of the sea, or see the sunrise.
Special conditions:
The deck has a seat railing and is not suitable for very young children. There is a short 50m. walk down the road to an easy pathway to the beach. The car park is down a short path. The bach is most suitable for couples and families. The third bed in the children's bedroom is up a loft ladder and may not suit some people.

Sheets provided are clean and fresh, but not ironed.

Strictly no dogs.

Please leave the house clean as you found it. If you prefer not to then let the owner know and you can arrange to have cleaning done for a fee.

Very relaxing
Absolutely sensational house and location. Lovely views from inside and outside the house. We watched Gannets dive bombing for fish while enjoying our breakfast. We found beautiful shells on the beach to photograph. We watched the tide go out for miles and then come in again. We listened to some lovely varied music provided too. We'd love to come back.

Beautiful. Quiet private location and charming bach
This Bach was our favourite place we stayed in the whole of the South Island. The location is amazing, nestled in the bush this is the only Bach in collingwood that is truly beachfront and you watch the tide roll in and out from just about every window. It is very quiet except for the roar of the cicadas and the lapping tide. The Bach is gorgeous, just what you need and nothing more. I appreciated the mags and books. The main bedroom is separated with a curtain from the lounge which means that you can lie in bed and watch the water. The Beach is only good for swimming at very high tide as it is so shallow but the beach walks at sunset and collecting cockles is wonderful. Collingwood is very cute and a good base if you want to do Wharariki Beach and farewell spit etc. Close to mussel inn and the springs. Bit of a drive from deep swimming beaches such as Tata- but all in all a wonderful golden bay base. The Bach feels very loved and has everything you need. We hardely wanted to leave during the day. Would come back again it is very good value for money.

Quintessential NZ bach experience
A quintessential bach with awesome views of Golden Bay. We strolled to the cafe, took long walks on the beach, and relaxed while watching the tide ebb and flow. The bach was cosy and clean. If anything, it was too warm inside, considering it reached mid 20s during our stay.
