About this property

Honey Fields Cottage, a little piece of paradise!

The historic Honey Fields Cottage is set in beautiful park-like gardens with all day sun. In the evening there's a cosy fire to keep you warm and snug and a back deck to watch the sun setting over the Kaimai Ranges. The perfect retreat for a romantic get-away from city life, the cottage is ideal for one couple with a big comfy queen sized bed in the main bedroom. The 2nd bedroom has a queen sized bed also.
Situated in an avocado orchard so there's a bit of orchard activity going on from time-to-time but nothing major, and the plus is you get to enjoy fresh avocados free of charge during your stay.
A short drive down the road is Kauri Point Wharf, a favourite local fishing spot for catching kingfish, snapper and john dory as well as seeing the occasional pod of orcas. If you love to swim you can enjoy the surf of nearby Waihi Beach or the beautiful flat harbour water within Tauranga Harbour.
Bike riders can enjoy the local country roads or head to Karangahake Gorge to bike the Rail Trail.
If you love to walk there's the beautiful Orokawa Beach walk, starting from the northern end of Waihi Beach, the Kaimai Ranges tracks, the Karangahake Gorge walks or simply stroll down the road and around the coastal reserve from Kauri Point to Ongare Point.
Kauri Point has it's own special micro-climate, enjoying more warmth and sunshine than surrounding areas. The big shady trees near the cottage provide a lovely place to relax during the heat of the day, with a double hammock available for cottage guests.

The setting was like the garden of Eden.
Absolutely gorgeous grounds and views, it really was a little piece of paradise. The cottage was nice, it had everything we needed. The beds were really comfortable but sadly to say, I couldn't say the same for the seating in the lounge area. When we stay there next time, we will take a couple of foam squabs for our old bones. There was some lovely avos and lemons left on the table for us which we demolished very quickly. The hostess was very welcoming, but unforunately she was busy when we left so we wern't able to thank her for a luverly stay.

Lovely Home
This was our first trip to New Zealand, being from the United States. We were greeted by the owner, Lou She showed us around and greeted us with a basket full of goodies from the trees and gardens on the grounds: vase of flowers, avocados, limes, tomatoes, and feijoas. Beautiful views all around We also were greeted by their sweet dog, Chubby He came around everytime we returned to our house, but never stuck around too long. Just checked in and went about his way. Very close to a lot of hiking, beaches, and things to see and do. The house does not have a stove, but instead has a hot plate with counter top oven and microwave. We used the fireplace a couple of times and we had plenty of kindling and wood. The grounds are huge and we walked around just taking in all the fruit trees and flowers. We visited in April so it was just starting NZ Fall season, but still plent of flowers and fruits on the trees. We had a wonderful, peaceful time. Thank you, Lou and Pete
