About this property

Small cosy cabin retreat, 1 hour's drive from Auckland. Cliff top views of Manukau Harbour and Auckland City lights. Very private and quiet. Bathtub under the stars overlooking the bay and the city. Don't forget to bring your favourite bath bubbles and oils! Huge decks to relax and unwind while enjoying the forest and harbour views.

Close to the Awhitu golf course and Regional Park, local winery, amazing Manukau Heads Lighthouse, and many local beaches for swimming (including Wattle Bay which is a few minutes' walk from the cabin if you have reasonable fitness, otherwise just a minute or two car-ride).

The cabin has been designed to suit a couple who want a private, quiet, relaxing break away from it all. While comfortable and with everything you need, it is a basic, comfortable rustic retreat where you can enjoy some solitude and peace away from the rush of the City. There is no TV, just the distant sound of the sea, the wind in the pine trees and the occasional tui. The cabin has plenty of supplies for cooking and total relaxation...with an exceptionally comfortable King-sized bed and full bathroom. The kitchen is small but well-equipped for cooking meals for two. There is also an outdoor shower to wash sand and salt off after swims. (Note that although we do not supply WIFI, there is a decent cellular signal).

Take a book, your journals, your meditation music...just relax and enjoy your stay at our remote and relaxing location.

This property is not suitable for children or those with mobility issues due to surrounding steep terrain/uneven surfaces etc. The cabin sleeps a maximum of two people.

We maintain a 100% STRICT NO SMOKING POLICY. This means that any smoking anywhere on the property at all is strictly prohibited, for the sake of fire safety and the comfort of our guests and cleaners.

Please note that this is a fairly remote rural property. Awhitu Peninsula has a coastal landscape with often steep terrain and dramatic weather at times! Most of the time there is no one around. The closest shop is a mini-mart at Matakawau Village which is 15 minutes' drive from the cabin. Guests need to bring milk and all food supplies required.

The perfect secluded Getaway Nestled amongst Nature!!

Our stay was absolutely Incredible!!! It really was a detachment from the RatRace. This accomodation had everything we needed & so much more.. The beauty of this place with its view & the many locations to take it in was phenomenal. And The bath was the icing on the cake. Couldn’t recommend high enough..

Absolutely stunning

Such a stunning little find, property is well maintained, the view is unreal, everything you need is there besides the obvious food which is all very well communicated from the start! Very steep driveway that was the only thing I wasn’t properly prepared for but it was fine, Had an absolutely relaxing time amongst all of the trees which the photos don’t do the property justice, such a stunning place and couldn’t fault it what so ever, Thankyou Rick and Ruth.

Paradise Tree House

Rustic beauty in the trees

It was a bit of a trek to get to the property but well worth the effort. Very rustic and a little quirky it had everything needed for a lovely stay. My family who stayed there had a second honeymoon in its quiet, remote beauty. Somebody from our family is likely to be back. Thanks so much

Great surprise. Perfect rustic stay.

We knew the place was supposed to be rustic, and it is but thats what we like. Very charming. Great deck with sliding window opening up to little interior space just big enough for two comfortably. Kitchen sink was a plastic tub on a fish cleaning table but with plenty of hot water. BBQ was were we did most our cooking. Driveway needs 4 wheel drive. First time up was a bit scary but we caught on. Its not the Ritz - its 100% charming New Zealand bush with great views and a lovely beach below. The tub in the deck was awesome. Very private. Do your shopping before you come and you need bug spray at night. Great experience for those with a sense of adventure and humor.

While my main house is in central Auckland, I am often out on the Peninsula. My farm house is approximately 500m from the cabin (cannot be seen from cabin) and if I am around I am always happy to meet and chat to guests. I also have a property manager who lives close by who can assist with any guest queries or issues.

What makes this property unique

This is a quiet, rural coastal getaway which will suit a couple wanting to switch off from the rat-race and reconnect with each other and nature. The cabin is perfect if you just want to laze around all day (the bed is beautifully comfortable, and the outdoor bath is spectacular both during the day and evening). If you are more adventurous, the property is close to beaches, a local winery, golf course, light house, fishing, and plenty of walking/swimming spots. There is room to park a small boat if you wish to bring one.
