The brilliance of the night sky - the stars seem so close, so intensely bright and almost touchable, can be enjoyed around a open log fire in the cooler months.

The river it's clear rocky-bottomed, flanked by native forest and curious wildlife provides such a beautiful backdrop for swimming and kayaking.

Take a 3 minute stroll to the waters edge - or a more concentrated tramp along one of the Department of Conservation native bush walks.

Great place to relax

Huge living area so great place for a family with group of kids with lots of games including table tennis. Recommend walking down to the river for a swim in summer - pack lots of insect repellent. Saw some glow-worms on the wall down at night.

Perfect setting in the country

This property had a great deal of space to explore. Hugh well appoimted farm kitchen, great hall (living room) and dining area. Wonderful walk to the river. It was perfect for travel through some wine country.

Great stay at the Barn

We really enjoyed our time at The Barn - it's a fantastic place to stay, masses of room. everything you need for a perfect holiday. Cherry on the top is the river, which is spectacular, and the kids really enjoyed the paddleboarding. Would also be a great place for a winter stay, with the huge logburner. We'll be back!!

Good break away from it all

Saskia was fabulous to deal with (very helpful and friendly) and the house is really big with lots of sleeping options for all age groups. Location is quite remote, board games and table tennis were great. Buddy the cow a huge hit for our family!!!
