Surrounded by cozy cafes, shops and specialty retailers, a stone's throw from the Alster lake, just minutes away from downtown, enjoy your stay in Hamburg as something very special. It is located in Hamburg-Winterhude, one of the most popular areas of the city, in the middle, and yet absolutely quiet. The beautiful shopping streets Gertigstraße, Mühlenkamp and Poelchaukamp can be reached in a short time on foot. In Winterhude you find particularly charming buildings from the period around the turn of the century, which have been lovingly restored in recent years. Our apartment is located in a pretty and reorganized old building. With direct access to the premises they are completely independent.

You enter the apartment through the front door and enter the approximately 23 square meters large, bright and stylish rooms which is divided into a living and dining area. The existing here cozy sofa is extensible and allows for sleeping with laths and a comfortable mattress for 2 people.

Down the hall you get to the nearby back very quiet bedroom with a double bed and a view of the private terrace with beautiful old, curved stone staircase.

From the hall is also a small, completely renovated in December 2014 from bright bathroom with glass shower. At the end of the hall is the spacious wardrobe, which offers sufficient space and storage space for your clothes.

Another door opens here on the cozy kitchen where nothing is missing. A two-ring ceramic hob, a dishwasher, a Cafissimo machine incl. Espresso, cafe crema and coffee capsules and everything you need for preparing a meal, you will find here.

The kitchen opens onto a terrace with adjoining small garden. You will feel at home!

Great apartment in good location

Apartment met our expectations and then some. Great location within walking distance of the #6 bus that we used to get all over Hamburg. Bed was comfortable and apartment was well equipped. Owner was easy to deal with and very responsive. Would return again if ever in Hamburg.

A great apartment in a great location.

I really enjoyed the week I spent in this apartment. The apartment itself is clean and comfortable. It contains a well-provisioned kitchen, a living room/dining room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. I appreciated the apartment's location along a quiet street, which allowed for great sleeping, and its private entrance onto the street which allowed for easy access. I also appreciated the apartment's great location. I used the U-bahns every day, and was happy to discover that the local Ubahn station (for the U3), the Borweg station, was only a fifteen minute walk away. I was also happy to discover that the apartment is relatively close to the airport; I needed about 20 minutes on the U3 and the S1 to get there (don't forget to also add in walking time). The apartment is also 2-3 blocks away from a really nice grocery store and an Aldi, right around the corner from a nice bakery, and just steps away from a great street that contains not only restaurants but several interesting shops. I'm a runner, so I was also happy to discover that the apartment is only about 1 kilometer away from the Alster. Once you get to the Alster, you can run several miles on a nice, sandy path. On a final note, Ulrike was a great host. She was flexibly about my arrival and departure and kept in touch. I would definitely stay here again. It was great for one person, would be perfect for two. The couch pulls out into a bed, so with four adults, this might be tight but it would still work.

Superb Apartment, excellent quiet location, 30 mins from Airport

What a great find this apartment was, exactly as described by Ulrike. Right in heart of a quiet residential area with good restaurants nearby and 3 supermarkets all within 5-10 minutes walk. We met up with our daughter who is a student in Gottingen for the bank holiday weekend. She slept on the bed settee which was perfect. Bathroom was on the small side, but the shower more than made up for this. Husband and daughter made the most of the coffee machine too.

We ate out at Mamma Trattoria on corner of Gertigstrasse on our first night and then at Arcada, turn right on Gertigstrasse (Portugeuse). You need to reserve even for early evening when it opens. We were lucky enough to get a table reserved within 45 minutes of it opening that night. Staff very friendly, helpful and spoke English in both places. Excellent food and good value too. We went for a 15 minute walk to Lake Alster to walk off the food. We spent many hours around the Harbour area and walked across the Elbe using the underground tunnel with a lot of steps, but there is also a lift. Great views from both sides, fascinating watching the various boats/ships on the River. Sunday we got up early to go to the Fischmarket which was an experience, very busy. We then went by regional double decker train 45 minutes to Lubeck. Home of marzipan so went to the café/shop and made several purchases. Amazing to see the wedding cakes made out of marzipan in the side windows of the shop. Good 3.5 hours just walking round the streets soaking up the atmosphere. Monday back to Harbour, beauty of Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday was all shops are shut so much quieter on pavements. Cafe's and Restaurants open still and buses/trains running. Had a lovely meal midday at Melange near the Rathaus, then walked it off by window shopping. Bakeries for breakfast were wonderful and lunch choice way beyond anything in Britain, types of breads available as well as various multiple fillings. We got a 5 person, 9 hour card from the Airport Office for 11.80 total price which took us from the airport to our apartment and then once our daughter joined us could travel on same card with us into city centre. To get back to airport on final day and for her to get to the Hauptbahnhof for train back to Gottingen was 3.20 each single tickets. Airport was S1 to Barmbek and then Bus 173 for 4 stops which took 30 minutes in total. From Hauptbahnhof and to city centre Bus no 6 from Sempstrasse. Easiest transfer ever done. Fantastic!

Great place!

Dear Ulricke. Thanks so much for a great stay. Sorry for the long delay in posting this review.

Ulricke met us at the apartment earlier than the technical check-in time so I think she is fairly flexible about getting in and out. The apartment itself is quite nice. It's a 1 bedroom apartment with a living room, dining area, and an eat-in kitchen. My wife and I slept in the bedroom while our daughter took the sofa bed in the living room. . Because of jet lag we sometimes were up in the middle of night and it was nice to have that kitchen area to hang out in without having to disturb the sleepers. Everything was super clean and neat, just like in the photos. Even before we left the US I tried to add a second weekend to my booking but it was already taken, so this place is popular.

We were visiting Hamburg to visit our relatives who live there. My first choice when searching for an apartment was a location near our relatives so this spot which was about a 5 minute walk away from them was near perfect. The neighborhood is very nice with bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants and shops literally around the corner and throughout this neighborhood. Buses are very close. All in all it is a great location.

We'll certainly be coming back to Hamburg and I hope Ulricke's place will be available when we do.

Well equipped apartment in a great location

We were very pleased with this cute apartment which appeared exactly as it does in photos. Well equipped, owner very helpful, and many nice neighborhood restaurants an easy walk, plus a well stocked convenience grocer a few steps away. Highly recommend.
