Karpacz (Krummhübel) and the Giant Mountains

The Giant Mountains are a mountain landscape with alpine character, which is characterized by plump-bald peaks, deep-cut valleys, steep slopes and fszinierende Frnsichten. The massif of Sněžka, with its 1602m high peak of the highest mountain in Central Europe north of the Alps, to which one is reminded there. As the High Wheel (1509 m), the Great Balaclava (1424 m), the violet peak (1471 m) and the Szrenica (1362 m) is the Koppe on the ridge, which extends approximately from west to east direction. This mountain range is the backbone of the Giant Mountains and pushes him his unvrwechselbaren stamp on. The main ridge marks the border between Poland and Czech Republic. It forms the watershed between the Elbe and Oder. The ridge is about 35 km long and runs from the west to the Przelecz Szklarska Pomezni boudy (border chalets) to the east Karpacz Situated at the foot of the Śnieżka Mountain, which can be seen from here well and climb with or without lift assistance. It is the most famous health resort in the Polish part of the mountain. As a settlement on the 'Krumme Hübel', between the Little and the Great Lomnica, the town was first mentioned in 1599. At that time, there were woodcutters, Köhler and pastoralists. Only in the 17th Century came to the trade that made the place famous: the production of Kräuterarzneimittlen. The 'lab assistants' as they called themselves herbalists, it brought with it to considerable wealth. The place in 600 - 800 m height is Weitau seinander-drawn. The pilgrimage to 1681 eingweihten Laurentius Chapel on Sněžka - the first giant mountain-tourists - already made in Karpacz station. From the small Koppe, which can be reached in 15 minutes by chairlift, there are only 30 to 45 minutes walk to the Snezka. The most famous sight-worthiness in the church Wang. The wooden church was the beginning of the 13th Century built in Norway. The Prussian King Frederick William IV had the church that was to be demolished due to disrepair bid, and bring to Berlin, where it should be built on the peacock island. Through the mediation of the Countess of speeches from Buchenwald (Bukowiec), the church came to Karpacz and was inaugurated in 1844.

The hiking

The Giant Mountains are a paradise for hikers. The ways in their partly ancient paths, both in Polish and in the Czech part excellent marks and can be combined well. Your nature is different. On rocky, steep and awkward sections should be set. In the lower regions one encounters beech and mixed forests, above Spruce determine the landscape. In wetlands, meadows and in the hollows of former glaciers can still admire rare plants. To protect the flora and fauna of the Giant Mountains, already in the twenties of the last century the populated by many rare birds area was declared around the Snow pits a nature reserve. Today, there are both on the Polish and on the side tscheschichen a National Park. A hike along the ridge trail in 1 300 to 1 500 m altitude is the culmination of a huge mountain stay because of the fantastic views. Connoisseurs recommend the direction of Szrenica (Szrenica) in the west to the border Baude at East because increase the scenic beauty from west to east and the mountains getting higher. The chalets, welcoming wooden houses where you can stay overnight, are characteristic of the Giant Mountains and enjoy great popularity with hikers and skiers. The better quality offer chalets in the Czech lands. Car and maps, as well as travel and hiking, you are welcome to use, are available in the apartments. We ask you, however, to treat these with care, so that other guests still enjoy it.

Winter sports

The Giant Mountains offer because of its relative safety good snow winter sports facilities for both downhill and cross-country skiers. Some chairlifts have been renewed in recent years. The Weather

The average temperature (day u. Night) is in summer 15 to 18 degrees C, the best hiking weather. The higher you climb, the cooler it becomes natural. Per hundred meters the temperature decreases by half a degree and is on the Snezka in summer at 8 to 9 degrees C. In the autumn and winter months there is often an inversion weather conditions. Sehr schöne und hervorragend ausgestattete Wohnung

  • 5 of 5
