Located within biking distance of both South Beach and Edgartown, this home is conveniently located to both shopping and beaches!
The house is perfectly located on a cul de sac close to the beach and town. It is close to the bike path, we enjoyed being able to take our rented bikes for a ride daily. It is especially nice because the cul de sac is located in a private quiet area, which is a dead end, so there is very little traffic or noise. You can ride your bikes to Edgartown center where there is a grocery store and many shops and restaurants. Such a convenient location! The house is clean, bright, open and decorated in a contemporary beachy style. The house was well-equipped with whatever we needed- especially the kitchen. There are plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms for a large group. The bedrooms and bathrooms were nice and spacious. Working with the owner was very easy and we felt that they were extremely helpful whenever we needed something or had a question. The house was in good condition and had no odors or pet hair. I would highly recommend anyone stay at this house. It was an amazing vacation!
This was our second year renting Steven's fabulous house. It was absolutely perfect for our family vacation on the Vineyard. The house accommodated babies, young children and adults. It was so well suited that, this time we came for two weeks.
Steven's home is incredibly well kept which makes you want to be the best tenant possible. At first, I was taken aback by the various rules and suggestions, but it all made sense once we opened the door to the house. There is a perfect amount of privacy and it is in a key location near the beach and town.
This house was beautiful, well furnished and as described in the listing, it exceeded my expectations. The house was very clean and well maintained inside and out, the grounds were also well kept by a lawn service. We had all we needed for a nice family vacation at this property. I highly recommend it to others that seek a nice large luxurious house during their stay on the Island.
We rented this lovely home following the wedding of our daughter to bring our out of town family together for an extended visit. It was the perfect setting for relaxing and entertaining away from home. We love to cook and the kitchen was extremely well equipped. The house was well decorated and had beautiful art which was a very nice touch. We especially appreciated the downstairs area which held my brother-in-law had his family of 3 boys. There was plenty of room to spread out and not be on top of everyone. The dining room had excellent seating for all for a formal meal and we enjoyed the patio area for most of our meals together. The air conditioning and wireless internet were nice extras. It is convenient to the bike trail and the little general store which is fun to walk to for coffee in the morning. South Beach is walkable but a hike and we had so much stuff we usually drove to the beach anyway. I loved this house and would highly recommend it especially if you are a mostly adult group. It gave us the pleasure of entertaining our guests with the same quality we would have in our own home.
My entire family (10 of us) stayed at this house and was perfect- it is spacious and well distributed rooms and bathrooms...modern and well kept- nice big back yard for the kids to run around and great porch! Nice location too, short bike ride or drive to the beach.
This large luxury home was wonderful, clean, well equipped, meeting our families needs and desires for our summer vacation. The homeowner was cordial and all features of the home were accurately listed. We spent some evenings watching DVD movies from the in house collection on the theater style Big Screen TV. The surf at South Beach was great! We were fortunate to have great weather during our stay. The outdoor deck, patio and well manicured lawn were marvelous and we spent much time entertaining and BBQing out there. The bike path between the beach and town was great for the family to safely access the beach and town without a car. Edgartown is a quaint New England town and fun for shopping and finding something for your sweet tooth.
We hope to visit again and would like to return to this fine property on our next Island vacation. Highly recommended by our family and guests.
New England, Martha's Vineyard Island, Edgartown, Katama, small towns, beaches, swimming, fishing, boating, sailing, water sports, seafood, whale watching, golfing, shopping,
A playground for Hollywood and Washington elites, Martha's Vineyard is to the nouveau riche as neighboring Nantucket is to old-money Yankees and New Yorkers. Just seven miles off the Massachusetts mainland, this 180-square-mile, triangle-shaped island is also more accessible than its sister island—a 45-minute ferry ride from the Cape Cod village of Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven. Of the island's six towns, the centers of visitor activity are Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and Vineyard Haven. Edgartown, a quaint jumble of bars, boutiques, restaurants, and inns in historic sea captains' homes, occupies the island's southeastern corner. Just to the north, Oak Bluffs is the center of nightlife and where you'll find the gaily painted gingerbread houses of the Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association—one of the island's top photo ops. Vineyard Haven, at the northern tip of the island, is the main port of entry, and with its chichi shops and dining, is the most genteel of the towns. To the west, West Tisbury is a community of working farms and rolling hills. Chilmark, in the southwestern corner, is where the richest of the rich spend their summers (you might catch a glimpse of their sprawling summer homes—or at least the tennis courts or servants' quarters—from State Road), and includes the picturesque commercial port of Menemsha. And even farther southwest, the highlight of Aquinnah is its dramatic clay cliffs and prime sunsets; it's also the home of the native Gay Head Wampanoag tribe.
Other Activities: South Beach
Possibly Martha’s Vineyard’s most popular and well-known beach. Three miles of barrier beach on the South Shore at the end of Katama Road. Surf on one side, protected salt-pond on the other. Open to all. Vehicles with permits allowed on marked trails. Lifeguards as well as restrooms and changing facilities. Free Parking area can accommodate about 130 vehicles. Close to bike path and served by VTA bus from Church Street bus terminal, downtown Edgartown.
Mytoi Japanese Gardens
Experience an intimate Japanese style garden characterized by natural serenity. Footpaths leading past a birch walk, camellia dell, stone garden, and hillside garden as wells a .5 mile trail through a pitch pine forest leading to the salt marshes of Poucha Pond. The entrance to the Salt Marsh Trail is located across the street from the Mytoi Garden. These trails offer easy walking and beautiful scenery. Just under a 3 mile bike ride from the 'on-time ferry' (Chappaquiddick Ferry) leaving from Edgartown. Limited parking; free to all; public restrooms.
