Great View and Away from Everyone
Secluded and great views on the back porch where the hot tub is. Thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub every night and one of the nights we used the firepit for some smores. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. Youtube TV service worked just fine and seating in the living was comfortable. Centrally located for lots of mountain activites. 10 mins away from Southeastern Expeditions where you go white water rafting, kayak or zip line. 45 mins to Highlands, NC which is a beautiful town and good restaurants. Most of the restaurants were open with some covid19 restrictions. All outdoor activities are open and was wonderful hiking at all the nearby trails. Would also recommend visiting Belle Farms and Orchard, its about 30 minute drive from house. Drive up to the house is a little steep and windy and van be difficult at night. Parking in drive way could be tricky for more than two cars, but definitley doable. Good one level house but there are about 4 or 5 steps hoing up to the front door that could be difficult for someone who has bad knee problems. All in all thoroughly enjoyed this cute cabin. Perfect space for couple or 4 adults. Very quiet and you cant see your neighbors. Both queen rooms and very comfortable. Washer and dryer on site was handy and great! Extra bedsheets and bath towels was also very helpful and handy. Owner was very responsive when we needed her. Highly recommend booking this property. Enjoyed our 10 yr anniversary at this little cabin, hiking, and sightseeing the surrounding areas.
Good location, private but close to town. Hot tub was great after our hike. Owners were quick to respond for any questions.
I work in this area a few weeks every year. Trying to stay away from hotels during this virus, this place was recommended by a cousin. It is nice!! Great views, convenient location, and fully stocked. I plan on coming back anytime I am working here again.
Enjoyed the quaint down town
About Lucy Harkness
I am a teacher in Gwinnett County and my wife works for a Publishing Company. We have 4 girls, 2 of which are adopted from China.
Lucy Harkness purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Lucy Harkness chose Screamer Mountain
One day my wife was driving back home from North Georgia. She was telling me how beautiful the drive was. I had already been looking at a website with listings in Clayton and showed her some pretty affordable homes. We have a friend who owns a cabin on Screamer Mountain who showed us some properties. When we walked out on the deck and looked at the view, we were hooked.
What makes this Cottage unique
We have fallen in love with our little house and the town of Clayton. We happened to be up there the weekend of the Christmas Parade this past winter. We so enjoyed the small town feel. Sunrises, walks, cooking out, breakfast at the Clayton Pharmacy, Pizza from Mama'Gs, are some of our favorite things to do. We also love Goats on the ROOF! You can rent a boat at Laprades marina, hike at Black Rock Mountain State park or Tallulah Falls State Park. The Dillard House is a short 15 minute drive away.
