This English basement with two private entrances is part of completely renovated row house in the Petworth neighborhood. Just an short walk to the metro subway station, guests can easily access all Washington, D.C. has to offer. If you drive, you can park your vehicle for free in the off-street parking spot.

This city-living space is in a residential neighborhood in the heart of DC. Due to the location and nature of space, you may hear various noises including the DC Metro (subway), road noise, HVAC, and the upstairs residents (which is the host's family including two young children). We keep quiet hours upstairs between 10pm to 7:30am. Outside of those hours, you may hear footsteps, children, and kitchen noises coming from the house upstairs.

In the Petworth neighborhood, there are many restaurants, bars, and boutique shops within a few blocks.

The Guest Suite is only 1 mile (20 minute walk) from Children's National Medical Center, which makes it a great location for people visiting or working at the hospital.

Birthday weekend visit

The overall experience was great! The location is about 7 blocks to the metro and a CVS. Check-in/out was easy and having the lock box there helped the comings and goings as different times since there was only one key.

Spring Break Rental

Everything was nice and clean, and an amazing location. Dan was very welcoming and gave great tips for what to do in the area and with travel. I would definitely stay here again.

Great apartment, great location!

My stay at the English Basement was flawless! The host Dan is a super nice guy. I literally have no complaints. The apartment is great, very nicely renovated, sparkling clean and also spacious. I stayed for two weeks with my 10 year old son (just the two of us), but the space could accommodate a family of four. There is a separate bedroom (yes a full bedroom, with a closet, window and locking door) which was really great to have privacy as needed. We were greeted with bottled water, snacks, plastic ware - which was really needed and greatly appreciated. The apartment only had a little fridge and microwave, which was challenging for a long stay. I ended up getting a rice cooker and kettle to make more complete meals. The yard in the back is large and private. Very nice area to hang outdoors. I travel regularly to DC, and already booked another stay! Thanks Dan!

What makes this property unique

The Guest Suite includes access to the entire English basement, which consists of a bedroom, living room, and full bathroom. In the living room, there is mini-fridge and microwave. There is not a full kitchen.

The Guest Suite sleeps up to four people. In the bedroom is a double bed, and in the living room is a futon that unfolds into a double bed.

The entire house was rebuilt in 2018, so all the construction (walls, floor, furnishings, etc.) are new.
