This is such a lovely house, I don't think the picture or write up does it full justice. It's really well kitted out, fantastic kitchen and utensils. High spec finish everywhere. Large laundry room for drying wet clothes. Beds really comfortable. We were a group of 8 friends and it suited us perfectly, but it's well set up for families as there's plenty entertainment options, the Wii, tv, dvds and outside the trampoline and basketball hoop. Great location, easy to find, but nicely secluded. Stunning view. We saw the northern lights too! Will gladly return. Thanks
Wonderful house with great views when the weather cleared. Very cosy, good kitchen to cook up a delicious leg of Icelandic lamb or whatever else tickles your fancy, well situated to explore & I managed to take in Þingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss & Kerið in an easy drive; Grindavík along the south coast & the Blue Lagoon, Seljalandsfoss & Þórsmörk which was stunning and the glacier lagoon at Jökulsárlón.
Want to come back again, fantastic.
Our family of 8 appreciated this home for our stay in Iceland. We used it as home base for day trips around the Golden Triangle and to the Reykjanes Peninsula. Our excursions to Skaftafell National Park and Snæfellsnes peninsula were full summer day trips but returning to a comfortable home made it worth the drive.
The home is immaculate, well-equipped, and well-organized. The bedrooms are large enough to give privacy and come with good storage/closets; the beds are comfortable; and the bathrooms are impressive. Our boys enjoyed playing chess and Monopoly while we prepared dinner. We were happy to enjoy the hot pot on our final evening in Iceland.
We would be happy to stay in this home again should our travels ever have us return to Iceland.
Although we had some difficult time to get to the house in the beginning not knowing what's around it in the dark, we had a wonderful time staying there! Glad that we rented a 4x4 SUV, there's no problem driving on the icy road leading to the house. The house is beautiful, well equipped with gorgeous gadgets. It has so many windows which let us admire the fabulous Northern Lights even staying inside. We can also see beautiful sunrise from the house. The owner Sven was very responsive and he was kind to let us check out 1 hour late. We would definitely want to go back there if we visit Iceland again.
I have stayed at many lodges around the world and it is safe to say that Sven is offering that BIG bit extra, the house is very tastefully decorated, immaculate and modern with plenty of kitchen utensil's for your party dinners!
There was 10 of us visiting for 4 nights to see what the country had to offer and we were more than impressed from day 1!
Beds are all modern, feel like new, 110% clean and comfy!
Showers are spacious and are a good size for large bookings
Lounge area is lovely, big comfy sofa's and then another big dining table for the dinners you will enjoy!
And then there is the hot tub, not your traditional Scottish hot tub's with bubbles and jets etc, more of a 'hot pot', but nevertheless a very enjoyable experience! I spent 3 out of 4 of my nights in here until the early hours! :-)
Selfoss itself was a nice little town - we used the supermarket to stock up on food, drinks etc and found it to be very reasonable!
We also ventured down to the Thai restaurant one evening too, this was enjoyable!!
Sven, I'll be back!
I can't say enough about this beautiful house. We had 9 adults and 1 child staying here and there was plenty of room for everyone! The owner was quick to respond with any questions we had once we arrived. It was a great location to be able to hit all of the Golden Circle sights, plus Reykjavic. Definitely one of the best vacations I've ever had.
In our house you can have it go really well. It is the perfect starting point for day trips to attractions such as the Golden Circle with the world famous Strokkur Geysir, Gullfoss Waterfall, Þingvellir and Laugarvatn the crater Kerid.
The south coast with attractions such as the Þórsmörk, the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, Dyrhólaey, the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull is literally right outside the front door.
From the house you have a beautiful view of the mountain Ingolfsfjall and the volcanoes Hekla and Eyjafjallajokull are also in sight.
