Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you soo much for sharing this lovely cabin with us for our 24th wedding anniversary. This is a peaceful, beautiful retreat which we enjoyed very much. My husband needed a stress relief and this truly ha been just that for him. Every time I couldn't find him I new to go right to the hot tub! Although it rained we still have enjoyed our time here just for the peace. We would love to return and have already talked about another trip here.

Amazing time at A Above the River Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed a quiet, relaxing two night stay at the cabin. We had no complaints and only wish we stayed longer! The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed to truly unplug-- from the hot tub to a leisurely paddle on the river-- we enjoyed every moment of our time in Shenandoah. I would highly recommend visiting in the fall- the leaves were gorgeous. :)

In a cabin by the woods.....

  • 5 of 5

In case there are any former Girl Scouts out there, we modified the old Campfire song to "in a cabin by the woods, Golden Girls by the window stood....saw a rabbit hopping by..." The cabin is absolutely perfect in every way ..... very clean, beautiful and comfortable furnishings, and very private. We can't wait to return.

Another nice stay

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is very nice and just the right size for 2 couples. Any more and it would be tight. The only issue we had was the view to river is blocked in most cases, no real view from cabin. Its not like it shows in pictures. Also it is a VERY steep walk up/down to the river. It really didn't explain that and the pictures make it look much easier and closer. The deck, firepit, and grounds are beautiful...just like we had hoped for. It is very private and close to a beautiful winery and of course Skyline Drive. All in all very nice.

Luray Cabin

  • 4 of 5

Cabin is nestled in the woods with a walking trail (walking sticks provided) leading to a private dock on the river. The cabin is cozy and nicely appointed, with a well stocked kitchen and comfortable living room furniture. The deck is perfect with half of it under roof so we were able to enjoy being outdoors even during the intermittent rain that we had during our stay. This is a property that we would consider renting again. Close to Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park. The owners were attentive and welcoming.

A true getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from a 3 night stay at the cabin and we could not have been more pleased with our choice! The cabin was beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed. Other than a quick trip to the grocery store (only a 15 minute drive) and spending the morning at Luray Caverns we stayed at the cabin and did not see another person the whole time! The solitude was a refreshing change to our sometimes hectic lives. We took the canoe out multiple times and caught fish, saw a deer by the bank, plenty of eagles and even a bear swimming across the river! We enjoyed cooking on the grill, making smores at the fire pit, soaking in the hot tub and just relaxing! Would definitely love to stay here again!

Really Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed out stay at the cabin. The home is beautiful, clean, and quaint. The beds were great, the rooms and baths very nice, and the porch was good. We loved the location and especially seeing the cows when we came back in the evening. The river was lovely but the walk down is steep. Thank goodness for the 2 benches.

We did not find a good restaurant around but the closeness to Skykine Drive and Luray made up for that. We hiked then came home to cook a nice meal.
