The Surf-n-Sleep cottage is conveniently located just 2 blocks from the historic Surf Ballroom and 2 blocks from the lake. It's walking distance to all that Clear Lake has to offer... public beach, shopping, restaurants, band shell, city park, Lady of the Lake boat cruise etc. Outdoor water park opened in 2007 with 2 water slides, zero entry, kiddie play area and diving boards.
You'll love the cozy atmosphere of the Surf-N-Sleep. The large kitchen and open floor plan make it plenty spacious for all to be together. Recently renovated to include, a 3 season porch, master bedroom with queen Sleep Number bed, 2nd room with 1 full size bed, 2 twin beds. Also a new tankless water heater and water softener were installed. You'll never run out of hot water!
Private concrete patio with grill, table, chairs. You're welcome to use the bikes in the shed for a quick trip downtown. There's also a large sand box, outdoor toys as well as cards, games, coloring books and toys for the kids. Don't forget to bring DVDs for your movie enjoyment on the flat screen TV (cable and wifi available in the summer and by request off season). Be sure to check out the Clear Lake, IA website for current events in town.

We love Clear Lake! The Surf Ballroom is what brought us to the town. We came for a concert and fell in love with the area. Our kids love to come to Clear Lake for all the family fun activities and events that happen year round, summer is a great time to enjoy the lake, the bandshell, the BBQ fest, classic car show and much more. Clear Lake has a small town feel with events that rival a bigger city, you will not be disappointed!
Bill and Tanya Schmidt purchased this cottage in 2007
We chose to buy a vacation/rental home in this location because, it is walking distance to the Surf, restaurants, city park, beach, Lady of the Lake, shops and the list goes on. A typical summer day includes~ packing a lunch, biking down to the beach, swimming, playing at the park, getting a cookie at Cookies etc. OR buying an ice cream treat from the ice cream truck (complete w/bell and all),bumming around the shops and biking back...great day!
Off season there's still plenty to do...stay in the cozy cottage, play games, watch a movie, go to the Lakes theatre, head to Mason City for some shopping or visit the museums. There's numerous events going on in town monthly, Christmas on the Lake, Kites in Feb., Buddy Holly winter festival at the Surf Ballroom, 4th of July celebration etc. Every time we are in Clear Lake we're never ready to leave!
Came to Clear Lake to see Peter Frampton at the Surf! I can honestly say I have never walked to a concert. Two blocks and we were at the sold out show.
The cottage was the perfect size for the 3 of us...nice, warm and cozy. Great kitchen...we fixed Easter dinner there. Comfortable furniture snd nice TV to watch movies. Brought my Apple TV...and the internet kept up great!
I would recommend the Surf N Sleep to anyone going to Clear Lake!
We want to return in the summer to enjoy the lake life....
The Surf-N-Sleep was clean and very comfortable. Everything was as indicated in the description. The only drawback is the bathroom situation. For older people, it’s a long walk from upstairs, through the living room and kitchen to the bathroom in the middle of the night. There were 5 of us, so getting ready one at a time was time consuming.
Stayed at this cottage 2 nights with our family. Cottage had everything we needed and was very cute and just as described. Tanya was very attentive and answered all questions and any needs or questions promptly. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Wonderful home and so much cozier than a hotel for our family weekend!!
We had a great stay at the Surf-N-Sleep Cottage. It was above our expectations with the added mini room and another bed. Our family of 6 was very comfortable and we had 9 for Thanksgiving dinner that worked out just fine. We would stay again and recommend it to anyone.
The layout of the bedrooms was surprising. They are very close together. We had a three year old and an 18 month old who used a pac-n-play. We put the pac-n-play in the porch area at night, and an adult slept downstairs to be near him. The location was nice, not too far from the lake.
When we walked in the door we we're amazed how perfect this place is the pictures online don't do justice it feels at home here I love that it is stalked with necessities that we may need we for sure will be returning thanks so much for the amazing hospitality here.
