A little "peace" of heaven on earth !!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I had searched for a place to vacation on the Key without much success, the HomeAway site was our last attempt to find the perfect place for our vacation.....and we found it. The cottage was absolutely fantastic, the decor and layout were great and it came furnished with everything you needed. The grounds were breathtaking and each day you would discover something new and taking a dip in the saltwater pool to cool off was the best. The beach area was slightly different from the pictures, but that is all part of the ever changing beauty of the ocean. You can access the beach, take long walks, sit under the palm trees & read, fish, swim, watch the boats go by and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The Mirmans are delightful people who gave us many helpful suggestions for restaurants, grocery store/farmers market and sightseeing adventures. We enjoyed the tour of the grounds when we arrived and took many pictures of the variety of lush tropical plants. We would absolutely recommend this for the perfect vacation location, if you want to feel total relaxation, like time stands still this is the place.

This is an absolute tropical oasis, close to everything. The owners are wonderful and know how to give you space to enjoy their cottage and grounds. I highly recommend this place to any couple interested in a quiet, romantic experience.

What a grea place.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was cute and immaculate, and everything you need were available. The pool was beautiful and super clean. We loved all the trees and MR. Mirmen was the greatest. He explained what kind of trees they were. I could have listened to him for hrs. He was so helpful on everything. We would ask him where would be the best places to eat, and he knew where to go. The stay was the best we ever experienced. We just wish we would have spent more time with him. It was our 50th anniversary. We are going back next year. Thank you MR.& Mrs. Mirmen. Jerry and Iris

BEWARE! Worst vacation ever!

  • 1 of 5

Don't know what has happened since previous reviews but this property is horribly neglected. Piles of empty plant pots and stacks of wood pallets greet you.mosquito and ant infestations everywhere. No privacy at all. Had to navigate around the owners, their dogs and full time worker bee. Six feet from the cottage door is green sludge that use have once been a fish pond. Between the constant traffic noise and the terrible mattress, you can't sleep. Beach area is too small to enjoy. Have a better time and stay home- that's what we wish we had done!! Pics on request.

Owner's Response: • We received an email from a couple requesting to rent the cottage and bring along a dog and cat. We advised them of a pet fee. They said no problem, “we will give you a check when we arrive”. When they arrived, we gave them a statement for the pet fee. They said they did not bring any checks and would it be all right if they mailed us a check when they got home. We agreed. About a week after their departure, I sent an email with my address, thinking they lost the address. I got a nasty email about their vacation and they refused to pay the pet fee. Along with the email they sent some pictures. They went behind the potting area where we grow plants to propagate, graft or start seeds, which we then place appropriately on the grounds and cottage. This is a potting area and I would expect empty plant pots, wooden pallets and planting material. It is over 500 feet from the cottage, along the wall. Regarding Mosquitos, we had Sarasota Mosquito control examine the property the week before. They could not find any Mosquitoes breeding on the property as we place Mosquito Fish (They eat Mosquito larvae) in all the water including Water Lilly pots and add Summit Mosquito Bits to air plants that retain water to kill Larvae. • The reason the Tenant navigated around everyone is their Dog was vicious attacking everybody and everything. We do have a full time gardener, that is why the comment that “this property is horribly neglected” is a misstatement. • The green sludge 20 feet from the cottage door is Duck weed not sludge, a plant that is consumed by birds and fish. • The mattress is a Posturepedic, which everyone loves and tells us they got the best night’s sleep. As far as the traffic noise, we have a solid eight feet wall over 500 feet distance from the cottage to remove any noise. • Our Beach is about 150 feet on the Gulf of Mexico. We refer to the beach as private, not a walking beach. In addition, our neighbors on both sides are up North. Most people sit on the Beach Chairs provided in the sun or under the Gazebo and swim in the Gulf. • Note, these tenants did not have any derogatory comments about the cottage or property. There biggest concern was the potting area may have looked like a potting area. Also, they never mentioned they refused to pay the pet fee.

A perfect, relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

I booked a week at this cottage in hopes of getting some proper rest and relaxation, and this property definitely delivered. The cottage is lovely; super clean and very well air conditioned, both of which are essential if you're planning to do a week in Florida in the summer. The high ceilings make it seem even bigger than it is, and there's natural light galore. The pool was a real highlight for us. The saltwater makes the water softer than a traditional pool, and you don't leave smelling like chlorine, which is lovely. There are birds chirping everywhere and butterflies flitting about; it's basically paradise. The beach is lovely as well. There's a sandbar a few hundred feet out, and watching the boats come in and out makes for excellent entertainment. There's also beautiful foliage everywhere. The owner is gifted gardener, and learning about his different plants was a joy. It also meant fresh fruit straight from the garden (figs, bananas, cherries, etc), which made for my favorite lunch of the trip. The owners struck the perfect balance of giving us space while also occasionally checking in to make sure we were happy, enjoying our stay, and having our needs met. They were also happy to accommodate my dogs, which was one of the key reasons we selected the property. I'm not sure I've ever seen my dogs happier than they were the week we spent at this property. I can't recommend it highly enough.

What a wonderful place to escape!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet spot, to get away from it all, this is it! This Gulf front property has lush foliage, a large beautiful pool and all the privacy you want.

The immaculate cottage is perfect for a couple. It is fully equipped and has everything you need. Just pack your clothes!

The bathroom is bright and airy, with space to place your personal belongings. It has a large walk-in shower and we had no problem with the uncovered windows (mentioned in previous reviews).

We felt totally at home in this tropical oasis. The hosts for this vacation retreat could not have been nicer! When they said “just call us or knock on the door”, we knew they mean it!

We had a great week in Siesta Key and being able to bring our dog, made it even better.

Thanks to Ilene and Al for their hospitality, for sharing their piece of paradise, and letting us play with Fannie and Mogley!

Lastly, there are plenty of places to eat in Siesta Key and you are close enough to everything in Sarasota in case you want to explore the area.

Have fun! We did!
