For a good idea of what you’ll experience, please read our REVIEWS. Our guests keep coming back because we offer great value and a quality experience in a dynamic neighborhood that is quiet, close to downtown and has many of Montreal’s top restaurants. We start your Montreal experience by offering you two fresh baguettes and some Quebec cheese.

Gallery 2 is in a meticulously restored century old building close to downtown and minutes from the subway (Metro), the Atwater Market and the historic Lachine Canal. An ideal pied-à-terre for anyone that wants to be in one of the most dynamic villages in Montreal. This 2 bedroom second floor unit is bright and sleeps 4 to 6. Finished with hardwood floors, it is spotlessly clean & tastefully decorated with original art, high quality furnishings, linens & appointments throughout. It features a master bedroom with a queen size sleigh bed and 1 bedroom with 2 single beds. The den has a sofa with a double pull out bed. Also in the den there is a flat screen TV and a collection of DVD’s from our library of over 100 movies for all ages. The bathroom has a deep tub that will soothe you after a good day of sightseeing and is equipped with a front loading washer & dryer. The dining room is beside the all equipped kitchen with dishwasher that leads out to a very large deck with two patio sets and two BBQ’s (Gallery 1 shares the deck with you). The deck is next to our beautiful rooftop garden. All our units also come stocked with books and board games. Called the GALLERY 2 because this is 1 of 3 units in the building that is located next to Jane's private art gallery & studio next door.

Our other units in the same building are Gallery 3 (#193135) and Gallery 1 (#211812)

Good food is just steps away at the deluxe IGA grocery store or the delicious Atwater market where you can savor gourmet foods, pastries and deli style food. If you prefer to eat out, we are a few minutes walking from some of Montreal’s top restaurants (Joe Beef, Tuck Shop, H4C, Smoking Vallee, CHO, McKiernans, Magnans Tavern) or if you prefer a drink in a hip setting there is La Drinkerie, Burgundy Lion, Grumman 78, Ludger.

Aside from fine dining, there are many things to do in this area. Depending on the season, you could catch a hockey game at the Bell Center, go rock climbing at Allez-Up indoor rock climbing gym or rent a kayak and paddle on the Lachine Canal. You can also walk or cycle on the Lachine Canal bike path which is just 15 minutes by bike to the Old Port and Old Montreal. Note that you can leave your bikes at home because we have 6 adult bikes for rent for $5 a day or maximum charge of $20 (includes helmets and locks). For small children there is a nice park with playground and splash pad just one block away.

I always wanted to own a hotel and this about as close as it gets. My wife and I live next door and we enjoy meeting people from all over the world. I also believe that we offer a great value to travelers. We've made our apartments up as if we were renting them ourselves. We pride ourselves on being good hosts and offering you a great stay. Why John Schwinghamer chose Montreal

This is a great area, there are good restaurants and we are very close to the subway system (called Metro) so we can be downtown in minutes. We are also very close to the Atwater market where there is great food and restaurants. We are also minutes from the Canal which has great bike paths and walking areas that lead to the Old Port of Montreal.

We loved everything about this charming apartment! The owner was so easy to deal with, and very accessible to answer all questions. He even took time to install the air conditioner while getting ready to leave the province for his son's wedding! The apartment is immaculate, meticulously maintained and well equipped for everything you need. The outdoor deck and barbecue were a huge bonus, as was the washer and dryer. Beds were very comfortable and the deep soaker tub (with shower) was lovely. The only thing I'd ever add to this great place is a small coffee table in the sitting room - so we could have a place to lay our glass of wine at the end of the day! The location is excellent as well - this was my first visit to Montreal, on a cross-country trip, and it is quite easy to access travelling east on the Trans Canada Highway. It is just around the corner from a Metro stop, which was wonderful to visit all parts of Montreal. Lots of great little restaurants in the area as well - we ate at the Greenspot Diner (good diner food) and The Burgundy Lion Pub (amazing menu! highly recommended). There is also an IGA just up the road, great for supplies. And also quite close to the great Atwater Market, which we really enjoyed visiting. The canal is very nearby also, and is great for walking. We stayed 4 nights in Gallery #2 apartment, and would very definitely return. We highly recommend staying here!

Quiet street in great location!

Great apartment! Very clean and well kept. Many thanks to John and Jane for their warm welcome and supply of fresh Montreal bagels! The owners were always available if needed. Well organized local information and wireless internet on site. Quiet location close to Atwater Market, the Lachine canal, and downtown. Recently renovated and plenty of space for our 16 month old to roam. We visit Montreal often and the apartment was perfect for our family gathering (fully equipped kitchen). We're planning to rent the unit again for upcoming visits.

Wonderful place to experience Montreal.

The apartment is very clean and just as it was described. Easy access to the subway making it easy to experience Montreal. A convenience store is steps from the apartment. We would stay here any time we visit Montreal.

An experience

Jane was a very nice lady and the apt was exactly how it was described .. Very clean and perfect size for us 4 . It was close to the Metro which made it ver easy to go everywhere. However there was a tenant above us that was very creepy who stomped and ran across her apt at all hours of the night.. Screamed , bagged on walls and floors etc... So we decided to leave early she made us feel very uneasy. We were told that she had issues and they were admitting her to a crisis center in the morning but later that evening she was back at it, we left the next day.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately you had to suffer through an unruly tenant. It's best to mention these things to us when they're happening, because we can usually find a solution. We don't always know what we're getting when we rent to someone but we didn't want to put her out on the street because she had just gone through a nasty break-up. We apologize for the inconvenience, but are pleased to report that she's gone and now seems to be straightening out her life. I would like to think that our little bit of compassion helped her get through a dark period in her life. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience. John & Jane

We had a fantastic stay !

Our family of four rented this unit for our vacation in Montreal. It was just perfect. It is a very short walk to the metro station so we never had to use our car. The neighborhood itself is filled with interesting restaurants for use when we didn't feel like going anywhere else in Montreal. A very useful booklet was provided to us that listed local attractions, restaurant etc.

We would highly recommend this unit to any family traveling to Montreal

John is kind and helpful for a newcomer to the city. The apartment was clean, bright and everything we needed. Close to the Metro and groceries just a step away. Easy to get on the autoroute. Great beds too. Safe and perfect for our family for March Break! Thanks John, for a most lovely stay.

Fantastic location-4 1/2 stars!

Great location, close to the Metro, grocery stores and bars/restaurants-all within walking distance. Nicely laid out apartment, very clean and comfortable. Street was quiet and easy to find. We would definitely stay here again! Only drawback, and it was small but still worth mentioning, was the fact that there was no paper towel or napkins and TV was limited as we don't speak French. But next time, we'll bring a cable to attach the TV to our tablet. My rating is 4 1/2 stars, but couldn't figure out how to give half a star at the first of this review section.
