Photos and Description of this Saint-Henri holiday apartment

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Den, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

For a good idea of what you’ll experience, please read our REVIEWS. Our guests keep coming back because we offer great value and a quality experience in a dynamic neighborhood that is quiet, close to downtown and has many of Montreal’s top restaurants.

Gallery 1 is in a meticulously restored century old building close to downtown and minutes from the subway (Metro), the Atwater Market and the historic Lachine Canal. An ideal pied-à-terre for anyone that wants to be in one of the most dynamic villages in Montreal. This 1 bedroom ground floor unit is bright and sleeps 4 to 6. Finished with hardwood floors, it is spotlessly clean & tastefully decorated with original art, high quality furnishings, linens & appointments throughout. This unit is handicapped accessible w 36” doors & only one step. It features a master bedroom with a queen size sleigh bed and the den has a sofa with a double pull out bed. The den can be closed off from the kitchen and dining room. Also in the den there is a flat screen TV and a collection of DVD’s from our library of over 100 movies for all ages. The bathroom has a deep tub that will soothe you after a good day of sightseeing. In addition, there is a utility room with a front loading washer & dryer. The dining room is beside the all equipped kitchen. You also have indoor access to a very large deck with two patio sets and two BBQ’s on the second floor (Gallery 2 shares the deck with you). The deck is next to our beautiful rooftop garden. All our units also come stocked with books and board games. Called the GALLERY 1 because this is 1 of 3 units in the building that is located next to Jane's previous owner private art gallery & studio.

Our other units in the same building are Gallery 3 (#193135) and Gallery 2 ( #213798)

Good food is just steps away at the deluxe IGA grocery store or the delicious Atwater market where you can savor gourmet foods, pastries and deli style food. If you prefer to eat out, we are a few minutes walking from some of Montreal’s top restaurants (Joe Beef, Tuck Shop, H4C, Smoking Vallee, CHO, McKiernans, Magnans Tavern) or if you prefer a drink in a hip setting there is La Drinkerie, Burgundy Lion, Grumman 78, Ludger.

Aside from fine dining, there are many things to do in this area. Depending on the season, you could catch a hockey game at the Bell Center, go rock climbing at Allez-Up indoor rock climbing gym or rent a kayak and paddle on the Lachine Canal. You can also walk or cycle on the Lachine Canal bike path which is just 15 minutes by bike to the Old Port and Old Montreal. Note that you can leave your bikes at home because we have 6 adult bikes for rent for $5 a day or maximum charge of $20 (includes helmets and locks). For small children there is a nice park with playground and splash pad just one block away.

About Etienne Masse

New owner same high quality service! I have good relationships with the previous owners John & Jane who still give me a hand sometimes. I always wanted to own a hotel and this about as close as it gets. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world. I also believe that we offer a great value to travellers. We've made our apartments up as if we were renting them ourselves. We pride ourselves on being good hosts and offering you a great stay. We try to make every aspect of your stay a pleasant experience.

Why Etienne Masse chose Montreal

We love this area, it is vibrant and interesting. The Atwater market is a great place to have a nice coffee and a dessert on weekends and the canal area is a daily source of enjoyment in the summer.

What makes this apartment unique

Proximity to downtown, the Atwater market, Metro (subway) and a lot of really good restaurants.

Gorgeous; very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at Gallery 1. It was beautifully decorated. Simple but classy. It had a very "home-y" feel. This might sound corny but I loved the very pleasing creamy-buttery colour in the bathroom. Sitting in the soaker tub and looking at that colour was very relaxing.

The bed was very comfortable.

It was great to be in a local neighbourhood and get a sense of people's lives, rather than staying in the downtown area. We walked downtown along the Lachine Canal and it was lovely.

There is a resource manual in the apartment which is very helpful about resources in the neighbourhood. There are suggestions and directions for a couple of great walks. We were very pleased with the quality both of the nearby IGA and the slightly-further-away Atwater market - definitely worth a trip.

Étienne was immediately available when we needed him. At first, we were worried about the stability of the kitchen chairs. He responded immediately and came over as soon as he could to re-inforce them.

We were very happy there and are looking forward to coming back next time we are in Montréal.

Very clean and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We had a delightful stay at this roomy rental. We could walk to the metro station and grocery store. The Atwater Market and Lachine Canal were close by and very interesting. We stopped by the canal one afternoon and relaxed in a nearby park across from Atwater. It was nice to watch people on bicycles and walking along the canal on a warm afternoon.

We would highly recommend this property.

3rd stay in the ground floor condo. street parking free and usually not tough to find a spot. BUT........beware the signage or you will end up with a ticket. ask passersby for help if your french is not up to par (signage is unilingual). as for the condo itself: bathroom/kitchen in particular are good. sofa-bed lumpy: do what i do and pack a therma-rest camping mattress to place on top of it. proximity to IGA, atwater market, st henri metro station, lachine canal park and atwater market are hard to beat.

Outstanding property in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

Lived up to, and surpassed our expectations of what was advertised on VRBO. Spacious, very clean and modern, comfortable, large bed in a quiet bedroom, nice kitchen for cooking, clean bathroom, and nice living and dining areas to relax, lovely artwork throughout. Very secure 1st-floor apartment with a combo lock entry, a vestibule for bad weather protection and luggage storage, located on a quiet street in a very safe neighborhood, many fantastic restaurants within blocks of the apartment, convenience store 1/2 block away, bus line 2 blocks away, Metro rail and grocery store about a 5-minute walk, and a long scenic bike and walking trail along a picturesque canal (starting about 5 minutes away) that leads to a fantastic market open every day that has about anything/everything food-wise that you might desire. The location was perfect and secure; we didn't even hide our computers etc. Taxi and Uber were almost instantly available. We found the people in the local area and within the city very friendly, kind, and willing to help us -- even if we did not speak French. The friendly and accommodating (previous) owner provided a very personal informative notebook-guide of the local area and of things we might be interested in or find important/necessary. The property was going through a seamless transition of ownership, and we were fortunate to meet both the former and current owners. Simply a perfect VRBO apartment and location to enjoy the wonderful city of Montreal. We never turned on the TV or availed ourselves of the many books and games on hand - we exhausted ourselves with the interesting sites to visit and the world class dining available. The AC worked so well and was much appreciated during the heat wave at the end of July, beginning of August. We would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend it. We were there for about 5 days.
