Ask a questionAbout Nancy
We moved to the Big Island in 1987 with Greg's work at Bank of Hawaii and built our home here in Captain Cook in1988. Planning for retirement we added the square footage for the vacation rentals in 1998 and later expanded the footprint of the house too and added solar power. The whole process has been a fun and gratifying creative experience. You'll love the large stand of bamboo on the property a focal point in the design of the property. This unite has a BBQ area close to it's individual parking and private entry. We've receive much enjoyment and satisfaction providing hospitality to many seasoned travelers over the years and have many repeat guests we consider friends. That said we give our guest all the privacy they desire. The honor system has worked well over the years and some guests have actually checked in with the key code and checked out with out us meeting them because of the layout of the property. We provide the excellent accommodations at a very good price and our guest seem to appreciated that and taken very good care of the property leaving it as good as they found it. "Peaberry" is our 9 years old dog, a black lab looking, lab pit mix and Mr. Mow, our 15 year old Siamese cat.
Nancy purchased this Bungalow in 1988
Why Nancy chose Captain Cook
This location represents "Old Hawaii" and over the years we’ve established this property to not only share the breathtaking ocean views and very pleasing accommodations but also it's an agricultural experience for our guests in this lush tropical environment with a wide verity of flowers, plants and trees that we’ve planted on the property over the years. Be sure to also check out the Historic Living Coffee Farm exhibit just down the road and the Amy Greenwell Botanical Gardens nearby and for old time flavor also see "Manago Hotel" and "Tashima’s Restaurant" both here since the early 1900’s. The Kona Historical Museum is also close by and well worth visiting. Many will want to see the two historic church's in the area and of course the Farmers Green Market in Captain Cook on Sundays. All the roads are paved and we're close to numerous good restaurants in the area; The Coffee Shack for breakfast and lunch, Keei Café, a little up scale , Manago Hotel, ( 1920's old Japanese Hotel known for their terrific port chop dinner), Annie's Burgers, The Fish Bowl (for take out fish), Hong Kong Chop Suey for Chinese food. Teshima's 1920's style Japanese Restaurant in Honalo, and Kenichi Pacific for sushi, very good and Sam Choy's also in Keauhou, another small shopping center. To enhance knowledge and understanding of Hawaii we offer our lending library while your here with books about Hawaiian Culture and History.
