About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Full luxury in breathtaking natural beauty. Remote and private. So quiet you can hear your heart beat. At night, no city lights disturb your view of the star-studded sky.

From this 1,475 square foot Casita, you'll enjoy panoramic 360-degree views: Abiquiu Lake, miles of mesas, rolling hills, and the magnificent red cliffs surrounding the famous Ghost Ranch. To the south you'll see the 10,000-foot mountain known as El Pedernal, which Georgia O'Keefe made famous in her paintings, along with much of the near landscape.

Our Casita was built in 2008, and designed by a local architect in a southwestern yet modern style. It's fully furnished for comfort. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, including a Bosch gas stove with heavy gauge grills for those who really love to cook.

Check out the Master bathroom: you can choose between a slate shower or a deep soaking tub to soothe your body after an invigorating hike in the nearby Jemez Mountains. Besides the 2 bedrooms with Queen beds, there is a queen bed sofa in the Great Room with spectacular views of the lake and Ghost ranch.

Why Larry Richard chose Youngsville

My wife and I have been visiting Northern New Mexico for almost 30 years. The skies, the red rocks, the mesas, the food, the locals, the hiking, the skiing…. are all so inviting. Finally, we decided that it was time to buy a place, not only to use as a getaway for ourselves, but for friends and family alike. We also want to introduce others to Abiquiu and Northern NM, so we’ve decided to make this a vacation getaway for you as well. We know you’ll be enchanted by NM as we have been.

Simply Exquisite

  • 5 of 5

From the reviews, and I read every last one of them, I knew that the views from this house would be spectacular. However, the reality is far better.

I am a particular person, so I tend to over-research decisions and control my expectations. This home surpassed my best hopes. Everything is thought out for a wonderful experience. The first clue is the superb, detailed driving directions accompanied by wayfinding techniques that immediately put the first time visitor at ease. The second clue is the exquisite architecture of the home that manages to both command presence from its position on a bluff, yet meld into the landscape made famous by the celebrated painter Georgia O'Keeffe.

When one arrives at the house, the architectural and landscape designs place focus on comfort, privacy, and views. There are exquisite building details that pay homage to the natural landscape and traditional New Mexican culture (such as the stunning stone-faced fireplace that reminds one of a kiva and the wide-expanse wood ceiling that references vigas). Pride of craftsmanship and respect of place are easy to see in the impressive single pour slab and beamed ceiling which extend beyond the interior to meet the outdoors. and the IMAX like view created by an expanse of windows sets one up to connect with the incredible setting.

Sunrises and sunsets are magnificent (and if you like the night, do not miss the stars at night).

We had no trouble with any of the roads in our Subaru Outback. While we did make two-day trips, we all agreed that we would like to return and just remain still to enjoy the house and surroundings without interruption. Our best day was spent on the portal, doing little else.

The house is fully equipped and very comfortable. I did bring along a few kitchen things and regretted wasting the car space. I also want to say that I not only felt that Larry and Laurie were immediately responsive and communicative, but that they were positively welcoming and gracious in all of their dealings with me. We all felt like invited guests into their home. We would love to return.

Beautiful scenery in a quiet setting.

  • 4 of 5

Prior to arriving, we had questions. The owners are prompt and friendly. The view was breathtaking and so peaceful. There are plenty of things to do: hiking, shopping, tours, etc. The only thing that needs improvement was cleanliness.

Owner's Response: Hi Loretta, We're quite surprised to hear that you found something in our home that was not cleaned to your - and our own - high standards. I wish you had told me immediately upon arrival, rather than after you checked out - as our cleaning crew checked off everything on the cleaning list. I'll contact you to find out what it was, so we can address this with our crew. THX . Larry and Laurie

Stunning location!

  • 5 of 5

All the reviews that mentioned the amazing views are spot on. There really is no way to put into words how awe inspiring the panoramic views are. As a native midwesterner it was truly inspiring to take in this unique scenery for the first time and the lake is lovely. We spent an afternoon floating on rafts and met some nice families with homes in the area.

The house is beautiful and well appointed with all the essentials you would need. The owners provided quick responses to our questions and provide detailed directions and instructions for everything. Again, I just can't say enough about the views!! We can't wait to return!

Beautiful property

  • 4 of 5

After a long drive down a dirt road (15 minutes drive to be exact) we arrived at this beautiful property and house. I was looking forward to lying out on a chaise with my book in the sun watching the sun set and looking at the views. Unfortunately there are no chaises just chairs. So lying down and relaxing and reading had to take place inside. While the inside is beautifully maintained and appointed (except for the two queen beds - we are at the age where we need a bit more space and like to sleep in a king, so we ended up sleeping in separate beds) we were really looking for the outside experience. The description says one can walk down to the lake but there is no path and my husband who has had both hips replaced could not walk down the rocky steep hill. The location is very remote. I was glad to have read previous reviews and we stocked up in Santa Fe for our 3 day stay. There are plenty of staples so no need to bring oil and spices - although the sugar for making hummingbird syrup has run out. The grill is fabulous and I had fun improvising with what we brought. We did not attempt to go out at night because of the dirt road and the steep hill up to the house. While there is plenty to do in the area it is all at least 30-45 minutes away and you have that 15 minute dirt road to navigate. We had planned to take our kids and 2 year old granddaughter but this is not a place for a 2 year old. All in all I would highly recommend it but 3 nights was plenty for us.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed our home. There is, in fact, a very easy to navigate path down to the Lake...I would have pointed it out to you had I known you were unaware of it. BTW: Allof the families that stay with us (including those with very young children) have a wonderful experience in all of the outdoor splendor surrounding our home. Safe travels wherever the road takes you, All the best, Larry and Laurie

Outstanding property

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our 4 days at this house. The views are amazing, as are the hummingbirds. Everything was as advertised except the photos don't really do it justice. It is about 30 minutes from the nearest commercial establishment, so be ready for that, but it's very quiet, and very beautiful, and very well decorated, so all in all we had an excellent experience.

Awesome View and Quiet Location

  • 5 of 5

Exactly what we were looking for - quiet and and wonderful views. Place was well stocked. Even managed to find a deck of cards that seemed to have once had a life as a Euchre deck and got in more than a few games. We had a great time and definitely want to come back.
