This privately owned brick house has been a family treasure. The home features original oak trim, cabinetry and flooring. The floor tile in the foyer and upstairs bathroom are all inlaid and original. Furnishings and decor make the home cozy and inviting. This house is able to accomodate family or friend gatherings and reunions, yet offer quiet time and relaxation.

There is a large front open porch for visiting with family and friends or sipping your favorite beverage. The back yard is spacious and guests can enjoy a meal on the patio or a sit next to the fire pit.

Located in the rolling hills of southern Wisconsin, the village of New Glarus hosts several festivals throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy the ethnic foods and local entertainment. The guest house is located within walking distance of the downtown area which offers shopping and many fine Swiss/German restaurants. The Sugar River Bike Trail is also located near the guest house as is the popular New Glarus Brewery.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

What was going to be a short trip anyway got cut a bit shorter for us as we were in the middle of a move at home. Loved the house, wish we could have seen the upstairs. Thought about texting the owner for a tour but we had to hit the road. Everything was very clean. We will come back when we can spend some more time!

Hidden gem steps from the center of New Glarus

The Duerst House is like stepping into the past with every conceivable modern amenity possible!! The house is spotless, the woodwork is breathtaking, and the details and amenities are perfect down to the choice of numerous coffees and creamers. The neighborhood is very quiet and just steps from the center of town or a car ride away to the New Glarus Brewery. I would highly recommend the Duerst house and look forward to renting it again when we visit next year.

Stately Manor

We enjoyed our stay, The house is 103 years old and retains much of its original charm. The upgrades that have been made fit right in with the rest of the decor. The owners were very accommodating. Our group gathers each Fall in different places through out Wisconsin. This was our first venture to this part of the state. New Glarus is a unique and friendly place to visit. I'm sure we will return at some point in the future and, when we do, the Duerst House is where we will stay.

The house and property are amazing!!

6 of us travelled to New Glarus for an extended weekend. We stayed two nights and had a great time. The house is huge and gave us plenty of options and things to do. The house was fully furnished and the only thing we needed to bring was our food and beverages. There was a fire pit and a gas grill that was available for our use and worked great. The house is about 5 blocks from downtown and was an easy walk to many of the shops and restaurants. When visiting New Glarus make sure to visit the New Glarus Brewery which is very short drive away.

unique and spacious

My friends and I had a great three days in this comfortable and well appointed house.

Rooms for everyone, even a private corner or two if you needed one. Exceptionally clean with everything you would need provided. Owner was very gracious. Great location - walking to shops and restaurants. Off street parking. We would definately stay there again. Many perks in this home. Pleasing decor and great antiques.

Beautiful welcoming home

The house was well stocked with everything you needed. It was very clean and orderly. Jane was readily available for any questions that I had. I would definitely stay there again.
