There are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, all with instant hot water. Every thing is cleaned and beds made the day of arrival. Two bathrooms are en suite.

We are on Palace Ave. a short walk to the famous Plaza and Canyon Road and all historical sites! Most large rental homes are a 20-30 minute drive from the Plaza and parking is difficult to find. Why drive when you can walk! Palace Ave. got its name from Spanish times around 1610 and the fact that the Palace of the Governors is on the Plaza and on Palace Ave. Casa Bonita is a 8 - 10 minute walk to everything you came to Santa Fe for. This vacation rental house makes Santa Fe the perfect vacation spot!

Casa Bonita is ideally located. Whatever you choose to do; you can stroll to museums, galleries, churches, restaurants, go shopping, or the grocery store. You can visit with the Native Americans on Palace Ave. in front of the Palace of the Governors on the Plaza. It is about a 10 minute walk. They sell their hand crafted jewelry and art work daily.

In the winter, ski 1/2 hour drive up the mountain at Ski Santa Fe, or go sledding in the park. Ski Santa Fe has 77 runs and is open now with 85 inches of snow and more on the way! Should have new powder next week!

After a day of skiing come home and relax in the big bubbling hot tub with foot massage jets before you gather for drinks in the huge great room.

You can save $200 -$1000 per day by cooking in our beautiful huge granite kitchen rather than staying at a hotel or eating at restaurants. You can also bring in a chef from the Santa Fe Cooking School for meals.

Casa Bonita has 5 bedrooms. There are 2 king bedrooms, 2 Queen bedrooms and a down stairs bedroom with 2 double beds and an en suite bathroom. There is also a queen sofa sleeper and a large couch in the great room. We can comfortable sleep 15 people. There are 4 bathrooms in Casa Bonita, two of which are en suite. We have original art by New Mexican artists and richly colored Oriental rugs that brighten our beautiful oak floors. We also have a large wood burning fireplace with lots of wood and a sitting area in the great room that adds ambiance in the winter. Everything is new even though we are in the Historic District!

We have 4 flat panel TV's. There is a 55 inch flat panel HDTV in the great room with DVD player. All of the TV's are on a Comcast cable bundle. We also have Apple TV and NetFlix on the Great room TV. There are 3 - 40 inch flat panels TV's in 3 bedrooms. Two are in the up stairs king bedrooms and one in the downstairs bedroom. There are music CD's, and a collection of movie DVD's. We also have a large collection of board games.

Casa Bonita is approximately 3600 square feet, plus the large covered front patio. Our spacious great room has 13 foot ceilings, huge beams and corbels. The huge open granite kitchen is beautiful and large enough for multiple cooks to prepare elegant meals on our large gas cook top stove and in our double oven! Every thing is new! The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils, pots and pans, place mats, and lots of plates and glasses. The laundry room has a new washer and dryer, detergent, ironing board and iron.

We have a 2 car garage, a large driveway and on street parking for multiple cars on El Alamo Ave. in front of Casa Bonita! Parking is never a problem which in Santa Fe is rare!.

In the summer come home and relax in our big bubbling hot tub before you gather for drinks on our beautiful breezy covered front patio. You can then barbecue on our gas grill and dine outside in our private walled garden.

We are on one of the most famous streets in Santa Fe, Palace Ave which was named in 1610! A short walk to everything! We are a 6 - 7 minute walk from the La Posada Hotel and their famous restaurant, Julia! La Posada is also on Palace Ave. If you are attending a wedding at La Posada stay at Casa Bonita and save!

Fun things to do while in Santa Fe: Casa Bonita is on the road to the ski basin for the skiers and snow boarders in the winter. Santa Fe Ski Basin is 20 - 30 minutes from Casa Bonita and has a 77 runs! The Ski Basin is open and has great snow! Why spend money to fly to Utah or Colorado if you can drive to Santa Fe and save!

Other activities you can take advantage of in the summer include hiking, rock climbing, golfing, fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, river rafting and kayaking on the Rio Grande, horseback riding, shopping, restaurants, museums, and bar hoping. We love to go to the Bandelier National Cliff Dwellings site which is 45 minutes from Santa Fe. There are over a hundred cliff dwellings at Bandelier dating back a thousand years. You can climb ladders to a number of the cliff dwellings! We normally take a picnic basket with us and have lunch there after walking through the park.

The annual Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque in October is a bucket list experience! You arrive just before the sunrise and watch over 100 hot air balloons take off! It is amazing!

You can also drive to Taos and ride in a hot air balloon into the Gorge, land on the river and take off! Another bucket list must do but make a reservation!

We also enjoy taking the Cumbres and Tolec Scenic Train from Chama to Osier and back in the summer. It is an old classic steam train from the mining and logging days. We recommend lunch at Osier and then a return on the train to Chama. The lunch at Osier is great! It is a day long trip and a lot of fun. The views are stunning. We have seen large herds of Elk while riding the train. Unlike the Silverton, Colorado train you are up high in the Rockies with great views!

Restaurants: We have the best location in Santa Fe and are a 8-10 minute walk to the famous Plaza and Canyon Road. There are over 100 art galleries on Canyon Road. If you come out the front door of Casa Bonita and turn left you are on El Alamo Street , walk a half block and you are at the Santa Fe River. You can walk across the bridge to the Compound Restaurant for dinner. It takes about 10 minutes. If you continue past the Compound you are on Canyon Road and a 5 minute walk to El Farol Restaurant. These are two of our favorite Santa Fe Restaurants. El Farol is the oldest restaurant in Santa Fe. It was founded in the 1800's. The southwestern food is some of the best I have ever had!

There are also lots of galleries on Canyon Road which are fun to stroll through.

If you come out the front door and go down Palace Ave. you are a 8-10 minute walk to the Shed Restaurant. They have great lunches and dinners. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Fe! If you want to eat at the shed, make a reservation! It is a popular restaurant! They open at 11 AM for lunch and close at 3 PM. They open for dinner at 5 PM .

If you continue down Palace Ave. you enter the Famous Plaza which has lots of galleries and several great restaurants. For breakfast we suggest the Plaza Cafe. It has a great menu.

Wineries & Casinos: There are numerous Wineries and Casinos near Santa Fe. As you leave Santa Fe and head north towards Taos there are a number of Casinos & wineries/ tasting rooms along the highway. One of the big casinos is Buffalo Thunder. It has Las Vegas style gambling and shows!

You can spend a fun day just stopping at the tasting rooms and trying their wines and enjoying the Casinos. The Casinos have full Las Vegas style gambling and shows!

In the summer there is the world famous Santa Fe Opera. It is a 15 minute drive from Casa Bonita. The Operas are some of the best in the country!

You can also go rafting on the Rio Grand during the summer. There are several rafting companies in Santa Fe to choose from. Call and make a reservation if you want to raft!

Bonita grew up in this home! We completed a $700,000 remodel several years ago and Casa Bonita is beautiful! This is the largest rental home in the Historic District of Santa Fe and the closest to the famous Plaza!

What makes this house unique

Location, Location, Location and everything is new! We are the only 5 bedroom, 4 bath rental home in the historic district and it is an 8 - 10 minute walk from the famous Plaza and Canyon Road. Everything is new and we have the best location in Santa Fe!! We are on famous Palace Ave! If you walk down Palace Ave. you enter the famous Plaza after a short walk. This is the center of Santa Fe and where the wagon trains would end their journey after months of travel from Missouri on the Santa Fe Trail. This occurred from 1821 to around 1880 when the Santa Fe Rail Road reached the out skirts of Santa Fe at the town of Lamy.

Casa Bonita is only 20 - 30 minutes from the Santa Ski Basin! Great skiing from Thanksgiving until the middle of April!

Amazing Again! We Always Come Back!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time staying at Casa Bonita and we can't say enough positive things about it! The house is perfect for our group, as the kids can have their own rooms and stay entertained with ping pong, the hot tub and the yard to run around. The proximity to the Plaza and Canyon Road is one of the primary benefits, as you can be dining at the Shed or browsing the galleries in just a few minutes. If you have a chance to stay at Casa Bonita, you won't be disappointed. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful home; both tucked away and close to all!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful family home. Incredibly spacious, with plenty to do (ping pong, hot tub, games, TVs in all rooms etc). The kitchen was perfect for cooking big family meals - it had every utensil you could dream of - and the dining room was the perfect place to eat them. My 3 small children loved that you could walk to the nearby stream and collect icicles, my 2 bigger children loved that they could walk with their father to Chez Mamou, the French Restaurant in town, and I loved that you could walk to Canyon Road and see all of the art galleries. The home has been very lovingly decorated (the owners have great taste!) and all of the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. I loved our stay! This is a perfect home for a larger family/ group. Thank you!!!!!

Great for groups.

  • 5 of 5

A large group of us consisting of 5 couples stayed at the Casa Bonita for a wedding weekend. The owners provided everything we needed for our stay. The house was very clean and well cared for, was decorated beautifully, and was large enough that we never felt cramped. All the rooms are well laid out in that if someone was in the kitchen we could not hear any noise in the bedrooms, which is always a concern with large groups. It was only a short distance to the Plaza, which was very convenient. Poncho was also very helpful with any questions we had about the house. We would absolutely book this house again.

Good property, good owners, close to plaza

  • 5 of 5

My family of ten stayed in Casa Bonita for a week in July 2016. It was unusually hot that week, and there were problems with the air conditioner. The owners responded immediately to our concerns and had the central air conditioning fixed. It is a wonderful property with a great room that includes the kitchen. Our family likes to cook the evening meal together. We ate outside on the patio, which was private and appealing. We liked that we were able to walk to the plaza every day as well as down to the river (actually a creek), where the children liked to play. We did a lot of walking while we were there. I would recommend the property to anyone.

Beautiful property, Great location

  • 5 of 5

The house is well laid out, beautifully decorated & in excellent condition. The owners have gone to great lengths to provide all one would need in a vacation rental. The kitchen has plenty of utensils, containers, dishes, and cutlery. There are plenty of linens, with a separate set of towels for the hot tub. The great room is comfortable with plenty of seating & a large screen TV in good position for viewing by a crowd.

The location is excellent for access to Canyon Road and the square by foot or car, & there is a large grocery 5 minutes away by car off Paseo de Peralta. The back yard has a covered porch with dining table & is on the northeast side, so good shade in the afternoon.

The owners and local property manager are readily accessible, responsive, and easy to work with. I would definitely stay there again with our group of 7 adults.

The house has hardwood floors & the owners request people remove shoes inside, so those who don't go barefoot in side should bring some kind of slippers or flip flops.

Fantastic in Every Way!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here at Casa Bonita for a one week family reunion, with our group of 7 adults and 5 children ranging in age from 1 to 72. We all loved the spot! Location is amazing, the decor is gorgeous, comfort abounds! and the home is fully equipped with everything a guest could ever need! Bonnie and Doug are delightful to work with and we would easily come back and stay here again. We would definitely recommend this beautiful home for a marvelous experience in Santa Fe.

Casa Bonita is in the heart of downtown Santa Fe, NM on famous Palace Ave, a short walk to the famous Plaza & Canyon Road. Palace Ave. is one of the oldest streets in Santa Fe. Palace Ave. was founded in 1610. It was named by the Spanish for the Palace of the Governors which is on the Plaza on Palace Ave in the Plaza.

There are over 50 fine restaurants and over 200 art galleries within walking distance of Casa Bonita. We love to stroll over to Canyon Road and have dinner at El Farol or the Compound Restaurant. If we want a great lunch or dinner in the Plaza area we walk down Palace to the Shed. You can have a great breakfast at the Plaza Cafe on the Plaza. Native American Indians sit daily on Palace Ave. on one side of the famous Plaza selling their wares. You are a half hour from world-class skiing at Santa Fe Ski Basin. Santa Fe ski Basin has 7 lifts and 77 trails. The lifts are open from December 6 until the first week of April. Taos Ski Basin is an hour and a half north of Santa Fe. There are over 40 festivals and fiestas each year in Santa Fe celebrating everything from wine and Chile to jazz and Native American arts. During the summer you can picnic or hike the Aspen and Ponderosa Pine covered mountains behind Santa Fe. They are beautiful. There are lots of hiking trails.

There are also numerous Casinos and wineries near by. Golf is nearby.

Things to do while in Santa Fe include; The New Mexico History Museum and The Palace of the Governors. This is the oldest continually occupied government building in the U.S. It was built in 1610 and currently houses numerous exhibitions, collections and artifacts reflecting the area's nearly 500-year history. It is a 10 minute walk from Casa Bonita down Palace Ave. The Shed Restaurant is on Palace and is one of our favorites!

The famous Plaza was established in 1610 and is the center of town. The Palace of the Governors is on Palace Ave, in the Plaza. The are lots of shops and restaurants in this area.

There are several historic churches near the Plaza including San Miguel Mission which is the oldest church in the U.S.

Canyon Road is a 10 minute walk from Casa Bonita. Canyon Road is home to more than 100 of the world's finest art galleries, containing works from Taos and Santa Fe artists of the late 1800's and 1900's, as well as those of modern masters such as Nieto and Gorman.

Other Activities: You can walk to Santa Fe's historic Plaza, drive 16 miles to the Santa Fe Ski Basin, walk to Canyon Road, Museum of New Mexico, Santa Fe Opera, over 200 Art Galleries, picnic in the Santa Fe National Forest, Museum of International Folk Art, Santa Fe Children's Museum, nearby Indian Casinos, lots of southwest shopping, beautiful old churches, lot's of great restaurants, Palace of the Governors from the early Spanish days, Museum of Fine Arts and Sweeny Convention Center. We are a 45 minute dive from Bandalier National Monument and 1000 year old cliff dwellings.

You can climb the ladders and go thru the cliff dwellings! You can also attend the famous Balloon Festival in late October!

Golf: Try golfing at the Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe. The views from Marty Sanchez are incredible. You see the Sangre de Cristo, Jemez and Sandia ranges. The course is 7500 yards and is a championship course and has a great driving range. They have a full pro shop, food services and spectacular year round golf.

You can ski or snow board 20 minute away from Casa Bonita at Santa Fe Ski Basin. The lifts are open from Thanksgiving thru the first week of April. There are 7 lifts and 77 runs. The top of the mountain is over 12,000 feet so the snow is usually great. You can stop at 10,000 Waves Spa on the way back to Casa Bonita for a private Jacuzzi and massage.

Taos is an hour and a half or so north of Santa Fe and has great skiing and snow boarding. The Taos Pueblo is an hour and a half away and open all year round and is a 1000 year old pueblo. We recently flew in a hot air balloon in Taos. The pilot dropped us into the gorge and on to the river and then up we went! What a ride!
