Mountain View Seclusion, located at 217 Deerwood Drive, Huddleston, VA, is a beautiful waterfront home on a quite cove with two complete full levels offering views of Smith Mountain. This secluded home offers 5 bedrooms & 3 baths. Levels are only connected by an external stairway to allow separation between two families vacationing together or allowing your teens a 'pad' of their own. Enough space and privacy for everyone with an upstairs level of 3 bedrooms and 1 full bath and a downstairs level of 2 bedrooms and two full baths. Both levels offer full kitchen amenities and living areas. Also a private dock with deep, clear water for swimming and fishing in this no-wake cove. A gentle 200' slope with a lighted terraced walkway makes for easy access to the dock. Quiet neighborhood great for bikes and walking.

It's perfect for children and safe biking in quiet wooded neighborhood. Of course bring your pets because this spot will be special for them as well! The dock area is known for it's outstanding fishing.

Sleep at night in the queen beds; or curl up in one of the comfortable twin beds. Enjoy watching deer, birds, and other wildlife play while dining on the open deck or the screened porch.

Mountain View Seclusion offers all the comforts you would want and deserve after a day of fishing, swimming, or hiking. A grill, 2 covered screened porches, and open decking add to the enjoyment.

Smith Mountain Lake is enjoyable any season of the year. Watch the spring burst into bloom; relax into the summer with fishing and swimming; experience a blazing fall color spectacular with a wine festival in September; cuddle up around the fire throughout the winter and watch the deer play; relax at night by the gas fireplace upstairs with a book or board games.

For those that can not afford to be out of reach or want to work in an atmosphere of relaxation while the rest of the family plays, wireless Internet access and cable TV is also available.

Amenities include (but are not limited to) a DVD, cable TV, games, and books.

About Rick Crofford

The Matriarch of the Crofford family was convinced by her 3 sons that buying this property after many years of renting for our vacations was the right thing to do. Our family retreat since 2015 has been nothing but hard work and lots and lots of fun......

Rick Crofford purchased this house in 2015

Why Rick Crofford chose Huddleston

The privacy of the cove and the location on the lake made it a perfect fit for our family.

What makes this house unique

Two separate living areas. Not having an interior staircase make the home much more quite as you can't hear what's going on up or down. The private cove is our private swimming and fishing hole.

Great trip for Liberty Graduation

  • 5 of 5

It was about a 50 minute drive to Liberty University for graduation, but the house and location made the trip worth it. Unfortunately for us, it rained both days we were there so we did not get to enjoy the dock and lake. However, the house was spacious with plenty of beds and bathrooms. Great view from the upstairs living room and plenty of space for all of us to hang out and socialize. Would definitely rent again and plan to stay and extra day just to spend time on the dock and lake!

We've stayed at SML before but just completed our first summer stay at Mountain View Seclusion. We'll definitely be back--planning already for next year! A big plus for us is the location--at the end of a no-wake cove, down at the quiet end of the lake. Perfect for swimming, floating, relaxing, and using the two paddle boards and canoe provided. The dock gets a nice mix of sun and shade and we were able to tie up the pontoon boat we rented overnight from Mitchell's Marina. Another plus is the house itself--ALL the beds were comfortable, appliances were up to date, and the kitchen has everything you could possible need. (Actually there are 2 kitchens but we mainly used the one upstairs.) We usually bring a couple of sharp knives with us for cooking when we go to a rental but this time they stayed packed! There was plenty of room to accommodate family members ages 6 months to 85, as well as the family dog. We loved that the house is comfortable without being overly fancy or fussy! The only minor disappointment was when we tried to use the grill without success, but we understand a replacement is on the way. Rick couldn't have been nicer or easier to deal with both in answering questions before we booked and then being available by text once we arrived. This one's a winner and we look forward to our return!

Perfect location to enjoy SML with friends and family!!

  • 5 of 5

We will be returning to this location for future SML getaways. The home has up to date features and offers all the amenities needed for a relaxing time at the lake. Our group consisted of two families and the house set up (two levels with outside stairs) was perfect. It allowed for privacy between the two families, but there was plenty of room for all of us to get together.

We rented a pontoon boat for the week from Mitchell's Point Marina (5 minutes away). We enjoyed swimming and fishing off of the dock, as well as our time on the boat. It was interesting because we would take the boat out to find a secluded cove to swim and fish, utimatly determining that the dock at our rental was the best we could find. No need to go anywhere to enjoy the best of SML. There are other homes nearby, but it still felt secluded due to the abundant trees, etc.

We would recommend this location to anyone and were very pleased with the time we spent there. The week just wasn't long enough! Thanks for allowing us to enjoy the home.

Great Home and Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We have rented a home at SML for several years. This by far has been our favorite.

1. The location was perfect for us and we loved the quiet cove!

2. The home was fully stocked in terms of rooms, kitchen, games, outdoor seating etc.

3. It was CLEAN. I know that may not seem like a big deal to some but a very big deal to us. We have rented homes where the first day was cleaning so we could use the shower. This place was spotless and we loved that and made sure it was spotless when we left so we can come back :-).

4. The grill was large although with all the rain we had we cooked indoors but next summer when we return we plan to put that grill to good use.

It did rain a bit much so we played some of the games they had for us.

They have great TV's, the only unfortunate part is there are no channels to speak of to choose from. Normally that isn't a big deal because we are outside. But with the thunder and lightening, we had while there it would have been nice to have some channels. But if that is the only complaint - heck that's still perfection to me.

Hope to see you next year for a full week!
