This home built on the grounds of a riding stable allows space, privacy and very close proximity to Lake Michigan beach at stop 38.
This property was in an ideal location for us flying to Chicago from England and meeting up with family from Australia who had been in Chicago on business. The layout of the house was perfect having a bedroom and bathroom for each family in three different areas in the house .The seating areas both inside and out were great to relax together and the wildlife was abundant. I did find that there were personal items left in various rooms which I put up and out of reach of little hands. It clearly was someone else' s home rather just than a holiday home. Shops were fairly close and suggested restaurants were good. We particularly enjoyed the Brentwood Tavern. The beach was perfect ,with private parking, although it was only a pleasant 15 minute walk away.
This home worked perfectly for our family, two daughters, spouses and one grandson. It has three separate sleeping areas for privacy as well as several comfy spots to relax inside and out. The large dining table was great for family meals and games, and the large, open kitchen nearby was fun to cook in, too. It's a pleasant walk to the beach or there are handy parking spaces nearby if you want to get there more quickly. We also enjoyed being able to see the grazing horses close by and our grandson had fun feeding them apples and carrots. We hope to be able to enjoy this property in future years.
The house was very spacious, updated, clean, and perfectly accommodated our family of 6 people plus 2 dogs. We loved that the horse stables were right on the property, and my horse-loving daughter was so happy to be able to feed carrots to the horses every day. The dogs enjoyed feeling like farm dogs, sniffing around the stables every morning. The house is only a couple of minutes from a nice private beach. The stairs leading down to the beach were a bit difficult for our elderly dogs, but we found an alternate sand trail leading to the beach not far from the main stairs entrance. The house is also only about 20 minutes from the Indiana Dunes, which was definitely worth the short trip. We hope to come back again sometime!
My sisters and I stayed four nights for our annual Sisters Getaway and had a great time.
The house is lovely, filled with light, very clean, and had plenty of room for the six of us. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed to cook our meals and large enough for several cooks to work side by side. We used the screened porch for evening card games by bringing in two chairs from kitchen. The fire pit had plenty of seating around it and the fire wood was next to the house. We walked over to feed carrots to the horses at the stable almost every day, which was a treat for us "city girls". We had no problems with parking all our cars, since the driveway is the road that leads to the house. We also liked that although there are houses nearby, there is enough privacy that we felt comfortable laughing and singing around the fire and on the porch until late into the evening.
We loved our days at the beach, since parking was so close, and chairs and umbrellas were provided. We were pleasantly surprised by how quiet the beach was, even on a warm, sunny weekend in August.
We stopped at Al's Grocery (off 12) on our way into town and found everything on our grocery list. We were especially impressed with their large wine department. We drove into Michigan to have great burgers at Redamaks, before spending a few hours at The Four Winds Casino on our one rainy day. A couple of us stopped at The Stateline Blueberry farm before heading home, and we had a lot of fun picking our own berries.
We would definitely return to this property again. Claudia was wonderful to work with, and answered my emails and calls quickly. We all felt that we were getting a great house, with plenty of opportunities for fun nearby, for a great price.
My sisters and our spouses all got together a few days to celebrate what would have been our Dad's 100th birthday. Dad died young and we wanted to share memories and just spend a few days under the same roof. The house was spacious. Everything was convenient. And if we can get all of our schedules aligned again, we will be back.
Enjoyed it. Property was clean. What was shown was what we got. Able to accommodate 8 adults easily.
We absolutely loved staying here. The house was so cute and I love the way she has decorated with old and new things. My niece rode ponies while we were there which was a treat. Claudia was so helpful and answered my many emails promptly. Do not hesitate to stay here. Cannot wait to return. What a fun trip!
This home is in a second home community close to Lake Michigan, on the grounds of a riding stable. There is an outlet mall within a 15 minute drive, and great restaurants and parks very close by.
