Beautiful, but in need of some love
I first visited Fisher Island in 1987 and spent time there on and off until 1994. It has always been a beautiful exclusive destination, but today it feels really crowded and over built. Right now (2023) there is a ton of construction going on and they have managed to create a bubble inside of a bubble by creating gated communities within the island.
All that aside, I was also surprised to see how unkept the common areas were. All the roof tiles and pool decks were really dirty and in need of a good pressure washing.
The condo:
In the past I had always stayed in larger units that had a view of either the beach or the city, this unit is more like a villa with no views of anything. The parking garage is very dark and tight, during our stay we did not have a working golf cart that was available to us. The one that was assigned to our unit was dirty and not well taken care of.
Our first impression of the condo when we walked in was not the best. The AC was not working correctly and you could smell mold. There were beach towels laying all over the dining room table and the refrigerator still had items in it from previous renters. The host did have a maid service come in the next day to clean things up. The overall condition of the unit was fair, I had high expectations since this is Fisher Island, but this unit could use a good cleaning and repairs. The balcony was also a mess (dirty).
For the money, I expected more.
