The Chalet is a comfortable fully furnished 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house (complete with laundry facilities and stainless appliances) tucked away in the Mat-Su Valley off of the Palmer Fishhook road; only a short 10 miles from downtown Palmer.

The Chalet is a private fully furnished modern living space featuring two bedrooms, two bath, kitchen, and laundry. The Cottage has a wonderful view of the Chugach Mountains, Alaskan wildlife, beautiful sunrises and sunsets and our famous auroras. In the Summer you can hike, bike, fish, or stay and hang out on the patio taking in the Chugach range. In the winter you will have the opportunity to ski or snowshoe from your front door. Other winter time activities in the area include the northern lights, mushing, Nordic and Alpine skiing, ice climbing, glacier tours and fat tire biking. We supply your first breakfast of granola, and baked goods, coffee, teas, fruit, and juice in the privacy of the cabin.

About Ben

Welcome to our property! Ben is a recently re-purposed fire fighter and river guide. Casey works at the local hospital. While we are both transplants from the lower 48 (Ben from Grand Junction, CO and Casey from outside of Chicago), we feel privileged to call Alaska our home.

Ben purchased this chalet in 2017

Why Ben chose Wasilla

Casey and I traveled around the Palmer, Chugiak, and Wasilla area to find a place that was near amenities but also near recreational opportunities. It had to be in the woods but near the hospital so the Casey could access work. We initially visited on a lark but Casey and I after seeing the property we were in agreement that we should live here. This location has all the qualities we needed and wanted from a place to live and a place to access all the recreation and adventuring that we do.

What makes this chalet unique

We both have nomadic souls and constantly feel pulled to fully immerse ourselves in every place we visit. On just about every trip we take, we have the “could we live here?” talk, often at the local brewery. It has been hard to choose a place to settle down, but Palmer has provided the perfect ground to put down our roots. The Mat-Su Valley is a great base from which to explore the last frontier. So many activities are accessible within minutes- hiking, running, skiing, fishing, climbing rock, climbing ice, biking, kayaking, packrafting, etc. We also love to road trip with our camper. Within 5 hours we can get to Homer for halibut fishing, Kenai for fly fishing, Seward for sea kayaking, Girdwood for some resort skiing and great live music, Denali Park for our wilderness fix, Talkeetna for our favorite coffee and pastries, or Valdez to ascend some world class frozen waterfalls. And to top it all off, our local community of friends anchors us in to this abundant life we live in what is truly one of the world’s most beautiful landscapes.

We loved it

We are returning renters for Rose Ridge. A few years ago, we stayed at the cottage and this time we stayed at the chalet. Everyone loved the wall of windows that gave us views of treetops and the far mountains. All the cooking amenities we needed were there already from the usual pots and pans to even things like a knife sharpener. We did a lot of cooking in the chalet and ate it while watching the sunset

Great House, Great Location, Everything You Need

We stayed here a month in on our 3 month round trip from Colorado to Alaska, and this was the very best stop on our trip so far. The house itself was beautiful and comfortable-- a real house you could live in for a few days, a week, or months. The kitchen was well stocked-- everything from pans to knives to plenty of dishes (and a dishwasher!), to spices, breadcrumbs, condiments and butter in the fridge, and pancakes in the freezer and syrup in the closet. The approach seemed to be take some and leave some. The only thing missing was an ice cream scoop-- which we bought and left, so now there is nothing missing at all.

There is a bedroom and full bathroom on the main floor, as well as a large bedroom with a King and Queen bed and full bath on the second floor. (So perfect for a handicapped stay, as you need never leave the first floor.) There was a washer and dryer too--a huge plus for us, as we had been on the road without one for a couple of weeks.

The view out the large wall of windows is spectacular. And, though we were not fortunate enough to see them, there were rumors of a Moose on the property and the opportunity to see amazing Aurora Borealis lights.

Check in and out was a breeze-- and Diane is helpful, and as available as you need her to be.

Palmer was a great base for exploring the area-- from Wasilla to Anchorage to a train ride from the Portage station.

If we're in the area we would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful property with a stunning view.

We arrived early, but we were able to enter the chalet early to wait inside. It's a beautiful place, very open and inviting. The view is spectacular and serene. The beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms are very nice and roomy. We had all the linens we could possibly need. My daughter was able to park an RV in front also with no problem. We were very happy with everything and almost hated to leave. We all agreed we would stay there again!

The chalet was very nice and spacious, views were amazing. It was quiet and pieceful. It was perfect. I would recommend Rose Ridge Chalet's to anyone and Diane is wonderful and very helpful!!!!

From the back windows was beautiful.

We even had a Moose grazing 10 feet

Rose Ridge Chalet was impeccably clean and well appointed. The location and the views were fantastic. It is situated back "in the woods" for peace and quiet after a long day of sightseeing. Our first morning at the Chalet a cow moose and her baby meandered up the drive and posed for some pictures. What a way to start our "Alaskan" vacation. We would highly recommend Rose Ridge Chalet. Not only was the place clean and comfortable but he price was, in my opinion, great. Why stay in a hotel for more money when you could stay here for less and have all the comforts of home. Thanks Diane for such a great warm and welcoming place to stay.
