Great Three Night Summer Stay

  • 5 of 5

Clean and well maintained, well furnished, plenty of room for our group of 6, great location on Moosehead Lake. Convenient location to canoe or kayak to Mount Kineo from the west side of the lake shore.

Excellent stay on the Moose River in the spring of 2016

  • 4 of 5

This is not your fathers camp in Maine. This home was excellently equipped in everyway and would be very comfortable for families of all make ups, even those with children. It was thoughtfully furnished with ample good quality beds in four bedrooms. Two full baths made it easy when everyone was trying to get ready. We cooked all of our meals in and the home had all necessary utensils pots and pans and a gas stove/microwave/dishwasher.

While the frontage is on the Moose River, its easily navigable to Moosehead, in just a few minutes. The only drawback to this set up is that at over 60 steps down to the dock from the house, you aren't close enough to see the boats through the trees. The number of steps is difficult to navigate carrying stuff to and from the boats and for older people or folks with issues with their legs going up and down the stairs cold be an issue. There are ways around that and we chose to go to the public launch a couple miles away to provide easier access. Overall we had a great time, hopefully we will return again at some point.

Great cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was beautiful. Plenty of space for my family of 3, actually too much space. We could have easily brought another family with us and still have room for all. It was very clean and well maintained. The kitchen was fully stocked and had everything you could possibly need.

I wish there was a better view of the lake. I was hoping to be able to sit on the porch and enjoy the view of the lake but you had to walk down quite a few stairs to get to the water.

What would make this property perfect would be if canoes or kayaks were provided for guests to use. You could rent them nearby but it would be a lot easier if they were on the property.

The location is a bit remote but it was a welcomed break from the more populated area that I come from.

We went ATVing in nearby Greenville, went white water rafting on the Kennebec river and hiked to the top of Mt. Kineo. A fun time was had by all and we would rent this house again if we come back to the area.

Great getaway cabin for everyone!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, son and I stayed at the cabin for a long weekend and it was amazing. The location is wonderful and easy to find. The Cabin is incredibly beautiful, spacious and very, very clean!!! Everything looked so great when we arrived. Just pack your clothes and food and you are ready to go. Everything is very kid friendly as well (we have an almost two year old). We can't wait to come back this winter.

We had a great stay at this beautiful cabin in Rockwood. The cabin is spaceous, very clean, and beautifully decorated. The layout is perfect for more than one family to stay at a time. My children enjoyed having the upstairs to themselves with their own bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped with dishes, pots and pans, utensils, and small appliances that made it easy for us to prepare our meals. A fire in the fireplace made for a cozy evening. It was a great place to just relax and unwind. I'm looking forward to my next stay at this wonderful cabin.

Great, but lacking for the price

  • 2 of 5

Beautiful cabin, but it advertised internet and there was NONE! We assumed internet meant wifi, but we were told by the owner that there was only dial up, yet we were never given access to it either, just told of a place down the road we could go to for wifi. Also, for the rather high price per night there is no washer or dryer and the closest laundromat is 1/2 hour away, which became a problem when we were only given 1 towel per person for the week. Many posted signs around cabin with rules, and many locked doors, which I assume have a washer and dryer for the owner and the cleaner and all the extra linens. The refrigerator door was full of all the owner's stuff and one whole upper cabinet had their food, etc. in it. You got the feeling that you had moved into someone else's house that really did't want to rent it out. Beautiful location, but for the money there was too many issues.

Owner's Response: We listened! We want you to know that we did take into consideration your feedback and we now offer wireless internet via satellite at Kineo Escape. As far as the washer and dryer- sorry we do not advertise that there is a washer and dryer and we leave a set of towels for each guest, if you needed more you could have simply called the caretaker and she would of happily obliged. The condiments and spices in the spice cabinet have been left there by other renters and the owners for the guests convenience. Most guests are happy to find those items they made need to make a recipe but left at home. Thank you for your feedback and we will take all into consideration.

Moosehead Lake is a great place to 'escape' from the daily grind. The area is known for being a great place to snowmobile, fish, hike, and boat. You can also go on a Moose Safari. In the winter, take a short drive to Big Squaw Mountain to go downhill skiing. The cabin is located close to a major snowmobiling trail. In the summer, hike the local trails, including Mount Kineo or venture up to Mount Katadin and hike on the Appalachian Trail. Our cabin is located near the mouth of Moose River which opens up to Moosehead Lake. From our dock you can swim, canoe, kayak, fish, or bring your motor boat for cruising the lake. You can also schedule a day of golf with the Mt. Kineo Golf Course or shop the stores in Greenville.
