About RC

I am a Dad with 3 children. I have been going up to the cabin since 1967, and my kids have been going up since they were newborns.

RC purchased this cabin in 1965

Why RC chose Lutsen

I purchase the cabin from my two aunts, my uncle and my father when they inherited it from my grandmother after her death. I have been going up there since 1967.

What makes this cabin unique

Very close to the lake. No highway noise. Very private location. Cabin rates high on character and charm. Cabin is a great place to escape from city life and read, talk, sleep, walk, hike, play games, etc.

This is an amazing place! It is truly an old family style cabin right on the lake.

We love this cozy space how old fashion it is the amazing fireplace the amazing location. The only thing we would’ve changed would be to have a few more comfortable beds. But other than that it was amazing and we will go back in a heartbeat.

Owner's Response: Coincidently We replaced the mattresses on the main floor double bed and twin bed the Tuesday after this guest stayed there. The loft queen bed is relatively new; I am assuming the bed comment was in regards to the main floor beds which are now replaced!

Location, location, location, and beauty on Lake Superior

  • 5 of 5

This is the owner's family cabin since 1965 and you feel like they should be welcoming you when you arrive because it's all intact,--the furniture, the board games, the beds & linens, the kitchen pot holders. It feels like they should walk in any minute. The cabin is clean, the shower seems new, the hot and cold water is wonderful, and the evening fires in the stone fireplace are fantastic. Yes, some things could use some serious updating, like the linens, pillows, and mattresses, and those pot holders, but other than those, we wouldn't change a thing. We thoroughly enjoyed the solitude, the lapping waves, the rocks, and the coziness of this unique cocoon.

All we hoped for!

  • 5 of 5

Here's some of what my husband wrote in the guest book:

We needed a break from life...and found it! The North Shore is a treasure, and so is this cabin. Highlights include: sound of the waves on the rocks, peaceful evenings in front of the fireplace, great hikes nearby, large windows overlooking the lake, general coziness, privacy, and proximity to Grand Marais where we especially enjoyed the Angry Trout restaurant and other venues.
