About Chad Verch
Pictured are two of the owners (Uncle and nephew) We love West Coast life and all that it has to offer in beauty and recreation.
Chad Verch purchased this House in 1950
Why Chad Verch chose East Sooke
This property has been in the family since 1950 with the newer house being constructed in 2003 from lumber harvested and milled on the property. The older cottage (not a rental) was built in the early 1920's with an addition added in the late 1940's. This property has over 900 feet of waterfront with a deep water dock, 2 beaches and a rocky point. You can catch legal sized rock and dungeness crab right of the dock. (remember you need a salt water licence that can be purchased online) and the area is abundant in sea and wild life. It truly is a piece of paradise!
What makes this House unique
Southern Vancouver Island has a mild climate with pleasant warm, dry summers and mild, wet conditions in spring, fall and winter. It rarely snows in the lower areas of this region and if it does snow it usually doesn't stay around long. At Heron Point House you will see many varieties of wildlife, both in the water and on land. It is common to see deer, peacocks, otters, raccoons, seals, hummingbirds and bald eagles daily. If you are lucky you may even see one of the local great horned or barred owls. Bears and cougars frequent the area and you may catch a glimpse of one while enjoying one of the many hiking trails nearby.

We LOVED our visit! The pictures don't do it justice, Heron Pointe is even more beautiful in person. Endless views, waking up to deer nibbling just outside master window, woodland creatures, sea life cavorting off the point, wind in the trees, jacuzzi by starlight, sunrises and sunsets. Property is very clean with simple lines, highlighting windows and views from all rooms. Chad/Owner is quick with responses. Except for missing our pets back home, we could've stayed! Hope to return to East Sooke again one day.
We had a great weekend getaway at Heron's Point. Hot tubbing, good eats, beautiful scenery... perfect!
Trip with my three brothers
My two brothers and I wanted a quick getaway on Vancouver Island. Finding a home to rent takes time and to get consensus of three men takes some effort.
This house was our answer. Not too far away from Victoria but far enough away from the hassle of city driving.
We found the house that from the outside looks non-descript. We entered and was surprised. The layout for our purposes was perfect. The furniture was comfortable. There
is comfortable seating, not sterile office couches like some places. Everything functioned as it should. It was clean.
The location on the water was peaceful. The birds, including the peacocks, called out. In this case, a picture beats a thousand words.
There is a wood stove, if needed, but was not. A hot tub which was hot. The television was on the second level. I am unsure if it works, though I assume it does as we decided that we would rather talk than watch tv.
To rate this place with 5 stars is underrated, but that is the best I can do. It was perfect for us. I would recommend this place for families with children, assuming they are responsible around water.
My highest rating can be used to describe this place: it is a keeper and worth a repeat trip if the owner would allow it. Do not hesitate to book this house.
We had an amazing time at this House. The kids loved it, the views were great and the house was just the right size. Thanks for the great holiday!
Well laid out, beautiful property.
Our family came into Sooke from Winnipeg to spend time with our son, his wife and our new grand baby!
The owners were quick at replying to inquiries before our arrival. The pictures show the house well, but in real life , the house and location is outstanding! The Heron House is full size and well prepared. This home is serene and peaceful, with ever changing scenery throughout the stay!
The local shopping was fine! Crab off the dock were delicious and the peacocks were very entertaining! They even joined us on the driveway to bid us a farewell!
Thank you for a fine vacation. Hope to be back!
