The surrounding area of Rome is well worth seeing: Visit the place Castel Gandolfo (Pope's summer residence) and be pleasantly surprised by the enchanting backdrop of Lake Albano in the Castelli Romani enchanted (35 km). Also the town of Frascati (34 km) and Tivoli (37 km) with the Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este are well worth seeing. Recommended are trips to Ostia Antica (45 km), the ancient Roman port city, followed by swimming fun on the 20 km long sandy beaches in Lido di Ostia. The beaches of Rome are 3/4 hours drive away.
The city center is indeed very compact, and the entire attractions are wonderful to combine walking with each other. Only the Vatican is a bit outside, which is to be reached by metro, however, and can be combined very well with the Castel Sant'Angelo.
Basically, the sightseeing bus (leaving from Termini station for € 18 / person) is very useful to get an overall glimpse of the city. He stops at every important characteristics and then goes up even to the Vatican to get out, which is very pleasant.
Villa Simone was perfect for our family. The description and pictures are accurate. It is just a 5 minute walk from the train station. The walk from the train station is partly on a narrow sidewalk, up a hill (paved road), then about 100 feet on the gravel/grass driveway. It was a short walk but may be difficult with a lot of luggage. The property was absolutely beautiful with fruit trees, flowers and privacy. The home was extremely clean and well-maintained. Our family enjoyed the covered patio and large backyard. We ate two dinners outside in true Italian fashion and it was quite heavenly. The kitchen was wonderful with everything we needed - we enjoyed the gas stove, two sinks and the natural light shining in from the terrace. The décor is very nice, high ceilings and large, cute bathrooms. This was a wonderful home away from home for our family of 5 (teenagers ages 13, 15, 16) with plenty of room to spread and out and relax after a busy day exploring Rome. I loved how we felt like we were in the country but were so close to the city. There is also a great grocery store just a short walk down the street and we ate at two restaurants within walking distance. It is a short train ride right into Rome. One night we had to take a taxi and were surprised at how close we actually were to the Tiburtina train station. The owner provided exceptional customer service, having her friend meet us at the train station, and leaving us delicious treats upon our arrival. I would definitely recommend this property to my friends and relatives. In fact, I have been home for 5 days and each morning awake missing Villa Simone... the light, airy living room, the birds chirping, the cool Italian breeze! Thank you Simone for sharing your beautiful home with us!!
We had the most wonderfull stay in this House during our week in Rome. It was clean and so Well maintained all over.. We all ageed, that whenever we go to Rome, we now know, where to stay.
All the Way, there has been exelent service.
We enjoyed so Munch our stay so Thank you😊😊😊😊😊😊
Tucked away and private, this Villa offers a 'touch of class' to a vacation home! The large gardens with the terraces (one covered and one open) are beautifully maintained and very welcoming. Being just a few minutes walk from the main train line to central Rome makes this an ideal location for visitors. The Villa is well equipped and has every conceivable amenity! We were met by a wonderful hostess who explained in detail the transit systems, restaurants and supermarkets. (Loved the booklet with all the info provided...ie Police, Hospital and other emergency numbers). The awesome 'goodies' were indeed a welcomed surprise at the end of a long day! Thank you again for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home! Would recommend this Villa to anyone looking for comfortable, clean and ideally located vacation home.
Definitely lived up to expectations. Plenty of space, comfortable beds and beautifully furnished with well equipped kitchen. It was too cold to use the outdoor seating areas in late November, but they would be a real plus in warmer weather.
Fidene is on the main train line from Fiumicino. The journey takes about an hour and cost us 8€ each. Heading into Rome is a matter of catching the same line back to Tiburtina (15 mins) and changing to the metro. It's roughly another 15 minutes to the Colosseum. Tickets cost 1.50€ and are valid for 100 minutes. We found that most places were within walking distance, so we didn't bother getting day passes. On arrival we were met at the station (thank you!) which made a nice start to our visit. Also the villa is quite tucked away and would have been difficult to find otherwise!
The supermarket near the villa was very convenient, and we ate out at Amatrice, 10 minutes walk and very good. 2 course meal for 3 with wine was around 50€ The seafood risotto comes recommended!
All in all a lovely place to stay.
We spent a full week at this property and it was wonderful! We decided to use public transport instead of renting a car. This worked perfectly and we were met at the train station, just a 3 minute walk from the house. A well stocked supermarket is also just a 5 minute walk in the other direction. The property was very clean and included all the appliances for a comfortable stay (dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster, freezer, washing machine, hair driers etc...) and wi-if internet. The garden is lovely and includes plenty of seating. There is also a toy basket for young children and board games for the older ones. We would definitely stay again!
This is a Lovely Villa and a great base for visiting Rome and surrounding Lazio. Fidene train station links you to Rome terminals in 20 minutes and directly to Fumincino Airport in 40 mins, so a car is not necessarily required. The inside is bright, modern and very well appointed, lovely piano, and comfortable beds. Good size secluded garden and secure gated entrance.
All in all a very enjoyable property.
