Relaxing Weekend
We enjoyed spending Thanksgiving at the red roof farmhouse. The house was sparkling clean and, spacious for our family to have our holiday dinner and play games. However, not having a dishwasher made clean up a bit more cumbersome. The beds were comfortable and the house well stocked with all the plates and utensils you need. Our host Roger was very friendly and accommodating. We had an issue with the water but Roger and his nephew showed up in minutes on Thanksgiving to assess and repair the problem promptly! Roger even left a yummy pie in the fridge for our meal! The property is located a bit closer to the road and Dollar General than anticipated but it was still quiet and peaceful. We loved the Mountain View and took great pictures in front of the stream out front. Thanks for allowing us to visit!

Fall vacation
We enjoyed our stay at the Red Roof Farmhouse. Loved the house, the porch, the creek, the views, all of it. Dr. Jenkins was a wonderful host and even brought us fresh blueberry muffins one morning. We highly recommend this rental, and look forward to returning in the future.

Peaceful property
This property is beautiful. The porch and views were my favorite. The beds we’re comfortable and we woke up feeling so rested each morning. kitchen was fully stocked with anything you’d need including tons of spices and oils etc. the fridge even has basic condiments! Our only regret is we didn’t stay longer to enjoy the nature, we were in town for a race and spent most of our time doing that. But knowing we had such a comfy place to come home to each night from a long day was fantastic! Thank you for sharing your piece of serenity with us!

Beautiful week on the mountains
Beautiful home—comfortable beds, lots of relaxing spaces, and a fantastic porch with a great view of the mountains. There was plenty of space both for us to hang out together and for us to get away from each other when necessary! Kitchen is very complete. The berry patch has a constant supply of summer berries rotating into season. Roger was very responsive and organized, making sure we had everything we needed. I can’t imagine a better host.

Great long weekend at the Red Roof country house
Excellent getaway property. Plenty of outdoors to enjoy in surrounding mountains and rivers. House is well appointed and kitchen has all appliances (including small appliances), utensils and tableware a family needs. Excellent host provided ample information in advance about the property and area attractions. Host was very welcoming and available if any need was to arise.

Why they chose this property

I was born in this small rural community and have been privileged to travel around the world with my work. I have found no place in the world I think is overall more enjoyable and impressive than the mountains, streams, and quiet natural beauty of this community.
Because Penland School has, over the years, spawned so many artists who have relocated to this area, there are literally hundreds of artists located within an hour of the property.

What makes this property unique

With the most impressive mountain views from the front porch while sitting in a red rocking chair, you find yourself wrapped in natural beauty on this private, gated, 27 acre farm. Not many places provide the unique opportunity to walk from your bed to a beautiful trout stream on property and land a 18 inch brown trout within minutes, then, In season, you walk a few hundred hards and enjoy blueberries, rasberries, and blackberries. Just installed large fire pit picnic area.
