Hiking areas:

Chairlifts and cable cars from Cardada / Cimetta

Enjoy a 360° panoramic view over the delta of the Maggia River between Locarno and Ascona, the lowest point in Switzerland, up to the Monte Rosa Massif, Switzerland's highest point.

Cardada and Cimetta offer countless hiking trails and paths for all ages. As long as the sun has not melted the snow, you can also follow the trails with snowshoes. The most precious treasures are often hidden.

Bosco Gurin:

One of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland, this quaint village was founded in 1253 by Walser settlers and has been beautifully preserved with all its original houses made of wood and masonry. Here you can truly dive into the past and spend an unforgettable time enjoying the calm, being active in nature and discovering traditions.

Onsernone (Maggia) and the Verzasca valley:

Onsernone Valley and Lake Cavegna: a wild, deeply-cut valley running from east to west along the course of the sun, ridges so steep as to be inaccessible and sunny villages that hug the southern wall halfway up on terraced grounds. Far away from urban centres, this valley has preserved its calm and quiet, retaining its enchanting nature and culture. The Maggia Valley divides and branches, spreading out like a hand, into Val di Campo, Val di Bosco, Val Bavona, Val Lavizzara, and Val Peccia. It takes the form of a large, knobbly hand with crooked fingers, criss-crossed by blue streams that are perfect for swimming, bursting forth from alpine passes and mountain ridges.

The Verzasca Valley:

This valley is wild, romantic, and fascinating. It has maintained the typical and ancient character of the southern alpine valleys. The region has been developed for tourism, offering many interesting sights and activities in the areas of culture, nature and sports.

Boat trips on Lake Maggiore: Intra market (Italy).

The town of Intra-Verbania boasts on the most popular markets at the Lago Maggiore. The coastal road towards the border crossing of Brissago (Madonna di Ponte) is the most heavily travelled. Why not take the ferry or travel by hydrofoil craft?

Among the amazing offers of the market, especially worth tasting are the cheeses. Don't leave without having tried the cream cheese, Mozzarella, Parmigiano, and Pecorino. Also worth mentioning are the fresh fish from the lakes and the rivers, the cured meats and sausages, breads and honey products. Even in winter, the stands are filled with fresh produce. Shoes, handbags, belts and jackets made from leather are also especially popular - as in all markets in northern Italy.

The Brissago islands

With their botanical gardens in the canton of Tessin, they offer a perfect opportunity to escape the noise, chaos and stress of everyday life. The exotic plants, colours, and smells increase our physical and psychological well being.

Dank dem Holzofen konnten wir das Haus auch bei dem schlechten Wetter kuschlig warm halten. Vielen Dank!

Alles top!

  • 5 of 5

Porto Ronco is one of the most popular holiday destinations of Lake Maggiore, rich in history and culture. Its beautiful, breathtaking views have won it the name of 'Balcony of Lake Maggiore.' In the spring you can see blooming mimosas, palm trees, azaleas, rhododendrons, citrus trees, camellias, agaves, and eucalyptus trees. In town, there is a small supermarket (Coop and Migros, 10 minutes away), and many good restaurants. You can swim right from the house into Lake Maggiore, which features the Lido Waterpark in Locarno. The area's crystal-clear rivers include the Maggia and Verzasca. Other options include golfing, mountain biking, riding, sailing, surfing, water skiing, flying, skydiving, paragliding, climbing tours, hiking right from the house, tennis, and skiing. Ascona, Locarno, or Cannobio (Italy) are five minutes away by car or bus, and boast excellent promenades. Cultural attractions include the New Orleans Jazz Festival, the Moon & Stars Rock Concert, the Locarno Film Festival, and the Settimane Musicali, a classical music festival. The museum on Monte Verita is another attraction, which was made famous by Hermann Hesse.

Golf courts:

Golf Gerre Losone:

The architect Peter Harradine had the ability to integrate the beauty of this region of Losone into an interesting golf course that has something for every player. The course makes its way through countless rocks, lakes and hills and represents a challenge for every player.

Golf Course Patriziale Ascona:

18 tracks on a golf course of the highest quality represent a balance between tradition and innovation. Known as one of the most beautiful golf courses in Switzerland, this golf course meanders between old wooded growth in a landscape of rare beauty. The flat championship course has an impressive technical standard.

Winter sports:

Skiing only a few metres away from the city centre? That is no problem in Cardada! The Cimetta slopes are perfect for ski fans who don't want to spend a long time travelling to get there and who simply want to enjoy some sun and fun in the snow. The slopes curve through a breathtaking panorama and the mild temperatures create an atmosphere of pure enjoyment. Cimetta is especially suited for beginners.

Bosco Gurin:

In the winter, Bosco Gurin is all about skiing! From the first small ski lifts in the 60s to the creation of an aerial tram in the 90s, the offerings have expanded to include diverse slopes, sure to fascinate even the most passionate athletes in the sport.

Nowadays Bosco Gurin offers more than 30 km of slopes, suitable for beginners and advanced skiers alike.
