Ideal for 3 couples or small family groups of up to 8 guests and two pets, Asheville Lookout Chalet is located ten miles west of the village of Black Mountain and ten miles east of downtown Asheville; an ideal central location for many of the area activities, including visiting the gorgeous Biltmore Estate. Situated on fifteen family owned wooded acres at an altitude of 2550 feet, the Chalet overlooks a quaint church and horse farm in the Bee Tree Valley below.

Second Floor East Bedroom with KING bed and Single Bed in the open Loft above

Second Floor West Bedroom with QUEEN bed, TV, Baby Crib and Private Deck

Second Floor open Loft over looking Great Room with Full size Futon (sleep sofa)

The Great Room has a gas log fireplace and a view of Watch Knob mountain through the 16 foot sliding glass doors and large clerestory windows. The kitchen has a full complement of cookware and cutlery, large and small appliances, two china services, glassware and table linens. The dining table has seating for 8 guests. The deck spans the length of the entire house with a gas grill, café table set and lots of chairs. On the adjoining stone patio is a picnic table for outdoor dining. The Hot Tub is located in the multi-windowed sun porch, accessible from the patio or through the Master bath.

A Smart TV with ATT U-Verse Cable service is located in the Great Room. Program in your personal Netflix or Hulu Plus accounts to view your favorite shows and movies. Two additional TVs are located in the Master and West bedrooms. The Chalet has WIFI, so bring your personal laptop or tablet or use the Loft computer to check your email or look up a great restaurant downtown via the internet.

Answers to Frequent Questions: Asheville Lookout Chalet is 3 miles from Warren Wilson College and within 10 miles of Montreat, Lake Eden, the Ridgecrest Conference Center, Rockmont, Timberlake, MerriMac, and the Billy Graham Conference Center. Pet owners are welcome to hike around the upper part of the property using the trail adjoining the driveway. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is not required to reach Asheville Lookout for most of the year, but may be necessary for winter rentals. Security resident on-site, housekeeper and maintenance available.

Shopping and Restaurants: The nearest grocery store is Ingles Market on Route 70, 4 miles from the Chalet. This is a large, well stocked store with an exceptional selection of products, including beer and wine. They also have a full service pharmacy, extended shopping hours, self-checkout, and accept major credit cards. Black Mountain (10 miles) has many wonderful restaurants; we can personally recommend the Black Mountain Bistro, the Veranda Cafe and Las Cuezelas. For amazing bar-b-que, you shouldn't miss Okie Dokies Smokehouse located on Old 70 in Swannanoa. Athen's Pizza (also in Swannanoa) has excellent sit-down or take-out. Start your morning with a visit to the Dripolator Coffeehouse on State Street in Black Mountain for some great coffee and baked goods.

About Bob and Lorna

We live in Northern Virginia outside of Washington, DC. We have been vacationing in the Asheville area for over 30 years and enjoy the many activities it offers, and look forward to eventually retiring to the Smoky Mountains.

Bob and Lorna purchased this chalet in 2005

Why Bob and Lorna chose Asheville Area

We built the Chalet in 2005 on acreage adjoining family owned property (Brett's Falling Waters Cabin). We love the tranquility and privacy of our vacation home, as well as it's closeness to shopping, restaurants, and the entertainment venues offered by Black Mountain and Asheville. Our staff, Lee and Holly, have been taking care of the Chalet since it was built, and they help us ensure that the Chalet is a comfortable and welcoming home away from home for our guests.

What makes this chalet unique

Asheville Lookout Chalet has a private, away from it all atmosphere while being within easy driving distance of many of the area attractions and amenities. Guests can enjoy the peace and quiet of time spent on the mountain in their own company, or as a home-base location convenient to Black Mountain and Asheville, white water rafting on the French Broad River, hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway and exploring the Pisgah National Forest .

Guestbook comments from the owner

To start, we had never rented a "cabin" before, so this was a first. It exceeded our expectations, which made it all the better. We had my parents come down from Michigan, us from Louisiana, to stay there for two nights. We had a wonderful time, the location was perfect. Our only regret was that we did not stay one more night. Three nights would be the way to go if you have the time. The slightest issue we had is we could not get the hottub to work which we left a note for the maintenance people. That said, it in no way hampered our stay. We loved the place. The layout was great, to the point it may be the blueprint to our retirement "dream house" in the future. Thanks again...

Lovely home with all the amenities for a relaxing getaway.

Loved the home, space, views, fire pit and hot tub. Feels like you are away from the world, but with ease of access to the entire Asheville area. We loved sitting on the large deck and relaxing in the family rooms surrounded by amazing views. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful view, wonderful home, great location, all you need is there!

  • 5 of 5

The house was immaculate! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need. Plenty of towels. Great hot tub. The beds slept GREAT! The sheets felt soft and comfy. The view is gorgeous. We were able to get to restaurants, Black Mountain, Asheville, and the Blueridge Parkway in minutes. A grocery store is also very close. Dog friendly too!! Definitely a great place to stay. We had 4 adults and a dog. Had plenty of room. Owners were easy to work with. Quick response to any questions and even accommodated a late request for a late check out! House was better than described. I liked that the hot tub was in a sun room.

Ideal Location & Perfectly Equipped Chalet!

  • 5 of 5

Our second stay, two years in a row, great house with all the features you might want for a mountain getaway. What we like most is the perfect mountain view from the soaring two-story windows in the family room area, with direct access to the deck. The house is loaded with features and well stocked with everything you might need while away from home. Also we find the location perfect for our needs with easy access to Asheville or Black Mountain. Another great week at the Chalet!

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the house. It was the perfect place for our long weekend. The view was amazing. The house is just a short drive from Asheville and Black Mountain. We enjoyed fine eating, hiking and spent a few hour picking apples at one of the many orchards in the area. we will definitely come back.

Cozy, secluded, and just the right distance from down town

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was great and we had a great time. Only qualm was that the hot tubbed leaked out after the first night and wasn't fixed the second night, so we weren't able to use it, which was the main reason we chose this cabin. Besides that, was clean, extremely comfy, and cozy and just the right distance from down town Asheville. Would definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: We are pleased that this guest found our home to be clean and comfortable for their weekend visit and would consider returning again. After their call, we were able to have the hot tub serviced that same day. No leaks from the tub or mechanical issues with the jets were found, but the fact that the hot tub had been turned off and unplugged (by the guest) earlier in the day meant that there was not enough time after the service call for it to reheat to the proper temperature for their enjoyment that evening. We hope that they were not too disappointed and that they otherwise enjoyed their weekend at the chalet.
