Beautiful Spacious Family-Friendly Mews House in Notting Hill

Welcome to our family mews house, a beautiful, totally refurbished, architect-designed family home in Notting Hill. For those not familiar, a mews is where the horses and carts used to be kept for the very large townhouses in Holland Park back in the early 1900s, that changed with the invention of the motor car and now mews houses are very desirable places to live due to their privacy as most of them are gated.
This is very much a loving home full of character and interesting artifacts from around the world and is light, airy, warm, and comfortable. The house has very high ceilings (uncommon for a mews house), a completely refurbished property over three floors (2640 square feet) with modern facilities. This is our main family home and we want it to feel like it's yours too!
The house is in a safe and quiet conservation area in a private, gated, cobbled mews, a convenient seven-minute stroll to the bustling Portobello Road where the famous Portobello Antiques Market takes place on Saturdays and a smaller flea market on Sundays, the daily open-air market where you can buy fresh flowers and food, and plenty of great restaurants and cafés.
Westfield shopping mall (Europe's largest) and Shepherd's Bush Central Line station are a 5-minute bus ride away. Latimer road underground station is a 4-minute walk and Ladbroke Grove Underground station is only 5 minutes walk (both zone 2 Hammersmith and city / Circle line), and there’s a frequent bus service within a 2-minute walk that takes you to Oxford Street and the West End, (London’s theatre district). Of course, we have Uber or Addison Lee taxis that can take you anywhere at the drop of a hat and larger cars are available for larger families!
A nearby bus service will take you to the famous City of Oxford in only one hour.

The ground floor level of the house has an oak-floored open living, dining and kitchen space with a Pantry and Utility / Laundry room. Under-floor heating throughout and a wood-burning stove make it warm and inviting on chilly days.
It has a well-equipped hi spec kitchen with a professional range cooker, American style fridge/freezer (with ice maker) and separate wine fridge. The double height dining area has a long rosewood dining table with matching rosewood chairs and an wood-burning open fireplace. There is also a Stokke highchair should you require it, (We have a baby set for it too).

On both floors, there are beautiful spacious bathrooms, open-plan wet rooms with under-floor heating, rain showers, and beautiful roll-top baths.
The bedroom configuration is as follows:
On the first floor, (floor above ground) we have:
Bedroom 1: 4 poster Kingsize (60 in × 78 in / 150 cm × 200 cm) - sleeps 2, with a single pull out underneath (36 in × 75 in / 91 cm × 190 cm). - Sleeps 1
Bedroom 2: Kingsize bedroom ( 60 in × 78 in / 150 cm × 200 cm) (sleeps 2)
On the same floor, we then have an upstairs living/workspace where we have a very comfortable fold-out single sofa chair (Sleeps 1) This room has an open balcony to the floor below which means that sound can travel up to this room from below however the room cannot be seen from below due to the high ceiling below so is private.
On the second floor:
Bedroom 3: Kingsize bedroom ( 60 in × 78 in / 150 cm × 200 cm) (sleeps 2)
Master suite: Master suite with Kingsize bed (6' x 6'6 / 180cms x 200cms). Sleeps 2)
Both bedrooms on the second floor (top floor) have air conditioning.
We also have a folding guest bed that would be suitable for a child/ teenager and could be put in any of the bedrooms and 2 travel cots (pack and play).
The house is incredibly child friendly, we know how difficult it is to travel with children and slip quickly into a routine when you arrive somewhere new! We have plenty of books and games and there are stair-gates and baby monitors should you require them. If you're travelling with children you won't need to bring a thing other than their favourite snuggly!
Towels and linen are included and of course the house is carefully cleaned before each rental. Additional linen is available by arrangement and a cleaning service during the rental period can be provided at guests' own cost (£18.00 per hour) which needs to be booked in advance, especially in the summer holiday season.
We can also provide you with a reliable babysitting service if desired, many of our guests make use of this and have been delighted with the sitters.
We provide a house file filled with useful information so you can quickly get to grips with where everything is, not only in the house but our preferred restaurants and services in the area. There are also plenty of travel guide books.

The accommodation is enormously flexible. As there are bedrooms on all floors, guests can base themselves in separate areas if 2 families are travelling together for instance. The beds and linens are of the highest quality, and so are the showers: guests often write appreciative notes about these. All the bedrooms are quietly appointed, so there should be little to disturb your sleep.

The house is a beautiful, practical and peaceful place to escape and enjoy London's hustle and bustle, our guests have told us that they enjoyed ' the luxury of a hotel whilst feeling a part of London life.'
I offer a personalized service and am on hand to offer advice whenever needed. This isn't a soulless holiday rental, this is a family home which will become your home from home.
We will be implementing Covid 19 anti-bacterial cleaning of all surfaces and fittings within the house prior to your stay. We can offer no-contact check-in or assisted check-in with appropriate PPE if required.

Please make sure that you are covered for cancellations (including Covid related) by your travel insurance or credit card insurance.

A word of advice, if you are travelling on an overnight flight with young children I highly recommend booking the day prior to your arrival. This will guarantee early access to the house. Check in time is 4pm, if there are guests checking out at 10am the morning you arrive the house will not be ready for you before 4pm and we don't allow access while the cleaners are there for obvious reasons. Bag drop may be possible however.

Had a fantastic stay. This place exceeds the pictures. Two blocks from the tube, 5 or so to Portobello Rd. Very convenient. Wonderful place to come back after a day of touring.

Katie's house was perfect for our stay with adult children and grandchildren. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to buses and tube. We will stay here again if we return to London with the family.

Perfect family home in an amazing part of London!
We had four adults and five children ages 4-12 for a week, and absolutely loved the home and neighborhood. House is just as advertised, perfect location a short walk from tons of amenities and public transport. Katie is a wonderful host—super responsive and experienced, and she ensures you’re well set up for your stay. Would definitely stay again!

Our family of 6 (ages 75 down to 8) had an extraordinarily excellent time at the house. Katie was awesome and met us at the home when we arrived. The amenities were excellent, the location perfect for getting on the tube and traveling to wherever you need to get to (and we went everywhere in the city and outside the city, such as Guildford and Bath), and the neighborhood was great (awesome food nearby—Katie’s recommendations were perfect—we had Indian, Thai, Italian, and so on). The property was clean and completely impressed us. We will definitely come back here the next time we visit!

I have lived in this area for 20 years and never get tired of what it has to offer. The local amenities around Portobello are exceptional, the restaurants extremely good and varied , (we have The Ledbury a Michelin 2* restaurant just up the road), the public transport links (bus and underground train) are nearby and frequent and the area is extremely safe.

What makes this property unique

Our property is in popular Notting Hill, a bustling and vibrant location with theatres, museums and restaurants within easy reach. The spacious and well equipped house is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a hard days exploring, it's secure, cozy, and the house is south - facing making it light and airy. A table and chairs on the cobbled, gated private road outside means you can while away the summer evenings outside watching the children play, glass of wine in hand. We also have a barbeque. A real home from home.
