Very nice beachfront.This is a Single-Family Home located at Standish Road; Coventry CT. has 2 beds, 1 bath, and approximately 856 square feet, cozy ranch on direct crystal clear, water with private beach and dock. Cottage For Rent, 2 Queen size bed, Sleeps 5, Also have cots in storage if necessary Full Kitchen (Last Remodel 2014), Stove, Lake Views, Waterfront, Cable TV, Internet, Outside Barbeque / Fireplace, washer & Dryer. Beautiful lake and islands views set the backdrop for relaxing days spent strolling around, sightseeing, enjoying unique attractions and just about every from of recreation you can think of. It is the perfect lake for boating, paddle boat, and canoe / kayak will be "AT YOUR OWN RISK." (LIFE JACKETS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES when on the water.) activities of all kinds; waterskiing, sailing, fishing and swimming. There are a variety of activities and attractions for you to choose from. There is PARKING for "only" 3 to 4 cars MAX. NO-More then 12 individuals will be allowed on property without owner permission.
Wangumbaug Lake, also known as Coventry Lake, covers 373 acres (1.51 km2). The lake is fed by springs, and has one natural outlet, known as Coventry Lake Brook. The brook flows towards South Coventry center and ultimately into the Willimantic River. Patriots Park, located on Wangumbaug Lake, contains a guarded beach, playground, picnic area, lodge facilities, Community Center, and band shell for summer concerts. It is also home of the Coventry Lake Water Ski Team and UConn Men and Women’s Crew Teams. The boat launch is run by the State of Connecticut. Occasionally, during the winter months, the lake will freeze over and residents have the opportunity to skate or fish on the ice.
History: The birthplace of Captain Nathan Hale, Coventry is home to the Nathan Hale Homestead, which is now a museum open to the public.The old center of the town is in South Coventry, near the intersection of Main Street (Route 31) and Stonehouse Road (Route 275). In the 19th century, there was a small industrial center including mills powered by the water from Coventry Lake Brook as it flowed towards the Willimantic River. South Coventry Village, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, also includes several Victorian houses, a museum, the main branch of the public library and the Bidwell Tavern, a bar/restaurant established in 1822. The Bidwell used to keep Coventry's town records in the 'vault' area behind the bar, as well as hosting town meetings. A few doors away is the W.L Wellwood General Store, which under new ownership has been renamed 'Coventry Country Store'. The general store was originally built in 1787 making it one of, if not the oldest General Store in America (a past owner claimed to have not found an older store). In all, the area has over 100 historical buildings on the national register.
The center of North Coventry is at the intersection of Main Street (CT Route 31) and U.S. Route 44 (section officially known as the Boston Turnpike, but usually referred to simply as 'Route 44'). Near this intersection are two shopping plazas. The first contains a large Highland Park Market. One can buy most any type of common foodstuffs here, as well as freshly baked bread in the morning. This plaza also contains the Meadow Brook Package Store and the Coventry office of Rockville Bank. The second plaza had a NewAlliance Bank now a First Niagara Bank, as well as a CVS and a Dunkin' Donuts. Recently a Walgreens was added across the street from CVS.

We enjoyed this property very much! We were on a month long trip in New England, and Coventry was close to Vernon, where our daughter just moved so it was a great place to hang out and visit with her and her guy. The cottage was nicely furnished and very comfortable. The bed was comfortable, and we slept well. Often one finds older or cheaper furnishings in a rental property, especially if it's near the water like this is. But that was not the case here; the owner was not afraid to put nice furniture in the cottage, and we would imagine he and his family use it as well. It's nice to know that an owner provides the same quality to renters as they do for themselves. The place was clean and well-maintained. Kevin, the owner, was very reachable as we made plans for this trip and communication was great throughout the experience.
This is a very busy lake, but the property is at one end and did not get the "through-traffic" that we could see further out into the lake. It also helped that we were there in early September so the weekdays were very quiet. Outdoor furniture was also nice and lake view were terrific! We did not spend much time in the house because of the lake-frontage. We swam and kayaked as much as possible which was lovely. Or we read outside in those awesome wicker chairs! Very relaxing, all conveniences (washer and dryer!) and updated appliances.
I would definitely recommend this rental, just keeping in mind that the lake can be quite busy.
We had a nice stay. The owner was friendly with good communication. The cabin has an updated kitchen with all conveniences. The bathroom is clean but tiny. Walk out the screened porch and you have direct beach access. We enjoyed some lovely evenings by the fire pit. The owner also provides three kayaks and life vests, which we took advantage of.
This was our first stay at a lake, and I'd say this lake is not the place to go for peace and quiet. There were large families on either side of our cabin using ski boats and jet skis, so there was a lot of noise and little privacy when we were outdoors in the daytime. That situation improved greatly at night, however. The noise and privacy are out of the owner's control, but they did have a negative impact on our rating.
The location was convenient: close to UConn and other things we're into. Great old drive-in theater nearby, also a huge flea market and farmer's market on Sundays.
My family recently stayed here for a brief trip to visit family. The owner was very responsive and welcoming. After making sure we were all set with everything, he gave us our space to enjoy our trip. We had absolutely everything we needed... From a keurig to dishwashing and laundry pods, to an extra cot and blankets. The grocery store was down the street as well as a CVS and Dunkin Donuts. Overall - we had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay. We would absolutely recommend and stay there again.

Great rental home. Small, but nice layout. There is plenty of seating inside and on the screened-in porch. We really enjoyed the beach, kayaks, and paddle boat. Would definitely consider staying again. Also enjoyed all the extras. No need to bring anything but your personal belongings.
Can't begin to say how much fun it was on the lake and use of the Kayaks and paddle boat were great with the grandchildren. The bedrooms were spacious and beds were so comfortable! Could have used a bigger bathroom, or another one, but all in all was everything we needed. Kitchen was updated and everything needed was there. Will definitely stay again!
