Perfect stay!!!

We were 2 women traveling to Rome for the first time. This is an excellent location, walkable to all sights, restaurants, museums, Vatican, etc. Spotlessly clean & had everything we needed

Martina was there to give us a warm greeting & explain everything about the apartment & area. We will definitely stay again. Thanks Martina.

Comfortable Apartment In Ideal Location

  • 5 of 5

My wife, two teenage sons and myself spent four nights in this apartment and I don't think we could have made a better choice. The apartment is very convenient to the Colosseum and within easy walking distance of most of the major sights Rome has to offer, yet away from the heavily congested and sometimes noisier centre. To reach the Vatican and some of the more distant sights, there is the Termini train station, metro and also a well supplied taxi rank within a few minutes walk. The Monti neighbourhood has an excellent selection of restaurants and gelaterias, as well as coffee bars and grocery stores. We enjoyed fresh fruit from a nearby market and excellent pain-au-chocolate each morning and finished our days with a glass of wine on the terrace each evening. The apartment is well appointed and comfortable thanks to the (much needed during our stay) air conditioning, and the kitchen has everything required to fix simple meals, especially breakfasts that can be enjoyed on the terrace. Martina and her son were both really pleasant and responsive - I only hope we are able to return for a longer stay next time.

Our stay in Monti couldn't have been more convenient! There were 4 adults and plenty of room that we never got in each others way. The little terrace was such a nice place to unwind each night. Martina helped us in every way possible...constant questions, directions, etc. She even tried to help us locate a bag that we left in a taxi! We have never traveled abroad before and especially never used HomeAway. I would not hesitate to use it again after the excellent experience we had with Martina. What a great way to travel and feel like a local!

Wonderful rental in Rome!

  • 4 of 5

This apartment was perfect for our family of five and we highly recommend it for three primary reasons: 1) location, 2) amenities and 3) comfort. Rione is the first district of Rome on the hill right by the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. You can walk up and view this church prior to the large tour group arrivals. It is also an easy walk down the hill to the Colosseum and the Piazza Venezia. We loved how we felt we were more in a Roman neighborhood than in a tourist zone. In addition, the street the apartment was on had at least four middle range restaurants good for families including one delicious pizza place across the street. 2) Martina's apartment provided many appreciated amenities including soap for the washers, good instructions on how to use the AC/etc. and good recommendations for Roman food. We loved learning how to properly make Italian espresso as written in the instruction manual. These careful instructions helped our family adjust to the differences in life in Europe vs. American and set us up for the rest of the trip. AC was a must also and very appreciated. 3) We found the Rione Monti apartment very comfortable. The beds felt good, there were multiple pillows to choose and the rooms darkened to sleep. Each room had a door and there was an outdoor seating area which provided options for us as our sleep schedules adjusted to the time change. Overall, this apartmentment provided our family a comfortable stay and wonderful introduction to Rome and our visit to Italy.

Well-located, modern, with every convenience.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Monti could not have been a more comfortable and enjoyable finale to our 7 weeks in Italy. As well as being modern and attractively appointed Martina's apartment was filled with every possible domestic requirement, which we really appreciated. We felt very secure with strong shutters on all windows, yet in touch with the street when they were open, and breakfast each day on the little terrace lined with flowering pot plants was a great pleasure. The surrounding area is full of cafes, bars, restaurants and supermarkets, and within easy walking distance of many of the main attractions, including 2 Metro stations. While located in a lively spot, the apartment is quiet. We couldn't recommend this rental more highly.

Great apartment in Monti

  • 5 of 5

Martina's apartment is a lovely place to stay in Rome. In the Monti section, it is very convenient to walk everywhere. Can walk to the coleseum and Forum. Restaurants, trattorias and bars are nearby. Termini train station is a 10 minute walk. And right outside the building is a bar, pizzeria and small market for juices, beer, milk, fruit, etc. we literally walked everywhere except the Vatican, which is on the other side of the city.

The apartment is spacious with a great kitchen area and beautiful terrace space. Beds were comfortable, rooms spacious with desks/ vanities. The kitchen had everything you can need and the bathroom was large. Everything is remodeled and in like-new condition.

Martina has maps, books, information, restaurants, and is very nice getting you checked in. Wifi was good.

This was truly a wonderful flat. I would stay again. No problems at all, everything works and Martina is very nice. Book here. It's a great place. Can't wait to return to Rome. Thank you Martina!

All historical building and squares are very close to the apartment and you can reach them by strolling through the typical old narrow streets of Rome. You can reach the Basilica of St Mary Major in 2 minutes and San San Pietro in Vincoli, in 5 minutes the Coliseum and the Imperial Fora. The apartment is located in via di San Martino ai Monti, a street in an ancient area called Rione Monti. In this street you can find the house where the famous artist Domenichino lived and the prothyrum of St. Prassede Church.

Rome's Monti neighborhood is a collection of art galleries and enoteche (wine bars) just to the east of the Colosseum.

And after a lengthy phase of urban re-organization, it is a mecca for young tourists traveling to the Eternal City.

Bordering the Roman Forum and the Esquiline district, it is also just a stone's throw away from the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore (with its unique Cosmatesque flooring) and from that of St. Peter in Chains, site of Michelangelo's glorious sculpture of Moses. Set between two main thoroughfares, Via Cavour and Via Nazionale, Monti is in part composed of Suburra, the ancient “Sub Urbe” quarter – i.e., under the city – the nether parts of which give out onto the boulevard passing the Colosseum. The neighborhood's uneven roads are paved with cobblestones (sanpietrini in Italian); at night, a stroll over them is a spectacle in itself. The entire zone revolve around the little piazza Madonna dei Monti, with its characteristic Catecumeni Fountain, designed by Giacomo della Porta. A network of small-time merchants and artisans have still managed to hang on to their businesses in Monti, thus lending to the scene a look of the antique, taking us back into the Rome of yesteryear. Typical gilders' shops and carpentry workshops, blacksmiths and junk dealers embellish these small streets, along with temporary vintage/consignment markets and art galleries (for instance, check out Galleria Fondaco).
