About William & Elisabeth Pinckard
My wife grew up in Austria and I was raised in Florida and we both love the tropical climate and the Caribbean. We have traveled the world and sailed to many of the Caribbean islands but fell in love with Turtle Beach on St. Kitts. Although our children are on their own, they take any opportunity to visit us on Turtle Beach.
William & Elisabeth Pinckard purchased this Villa in 2008
Why William & Elisabeth Pinckard chose Basseterre
While visiting St. Kitts in 2003 we fell in love with this unspoiled tropical paradise. We purchased this land and finished construction December of 2008.
What makes this Villa unique
Unsurpassed views, the short walking distant to the unspoiled beach, the walk from Turtle Beach to Cockleshell and Banana Beach, the friendly neighborhood and the many activities available.

The home is spacious and clean. The view from the deck is truly unbelievable. It is a short walk down to a beautiful and secluded beach (turtle beach). If you are seeking a quiet, secluded, tropical beach vacation, this is a perfect spot.
As it is in a tropical location, you have to deal with some bugs/insects. The bedrooms are all air conditioned and cool off very quickly. The main room/kitchen is not and although it gets a nice breeze, it can get pretty warm especially in the afternoon. I know electricity is very expensive on the island but a couple of air conditioning units in that area hooked up to a solar panel would solve the issue nicely.
All in all, it was a very nice stay and we would not hesitate to go back.
Beautiful Villa Alamandra
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Villa Alamandra for 9 days, 3 couples all celebrating our 30th wedding anniversaries. The view is spectacular to wake up to every day. The Villa is definitely a drive for any groceries you may need but worth it. There are a few very good restaurants close by and Cockelshell Beach is just a short walk away and is a very nice beach! The Villa is beautiful! We had a few minor 'hiccups' but managed to still make the best of our vacation. Overall, we had a fantastic vacation in St Kitts and cannot wait to go back!
Great location, amazing property
Great view, good breeze, terrific amenities, a little off the beaten path.
This property met and exceeded all expectations! The home itself was very well taken care of and functioning properly in all respects. The views from the living room and the patio are every bit as beautiful as the pictures indicate. The location of the home --- in an area of the island where only about 20 other homes are visible --- is beyond description. As important, except for the views across the water to Nevis, absolutely no commercialization is in sight. Although grocery stores and numerous restaurants are only about a 20-minute drive from the home, we preferred to eat in while taking in the million dollar views.....or simply go to one of the local beach bars/grills that were a 5-minute drive away. Our trip included two snorkeling excursions on private boats, a deep-sea fishing trip (catching 5 barracuda) and lots of time "doing nothing" on the beach and loving every bit of it..
Excellent place to stay!
This property was amazing! The interior and exterior were both very well kept. The view of the ocean, beach and Nevis was breathtaking. We spent a lot of time just sitting outside by the pool taking in the view and the nice ocean breeze.
The owners are also amazing, very wonderful to work with and attentive to all of our needs. They communicated well with us prior to our stay and left great notes at the villa during our stay.
In summary, we would highly recommend this villa as a place to stay in St. Kitts.
We just returned from a week at the villa. Location is slightly remote but that was just what we wanted. The view is second to none. The closest beach is not maintained so lots of kelp/seaweed coated the beach and no services there. Cockleshell beach is a short drive and very nice with full services. The villa itself is a little worn and could use some updating. We lost power for about 18 hours. The owners were very helpful guiding us to the location and use of the generator. 2 problems we encountered with it were no gas in the gas can and very little in the generator itself and the generator could not meet the demands of the villa so we couldn’t use the air conditioning or hot water heater during this time. That made for a very uncomfortable nights sleep. The property manager did deliver gas to us the following morning which was very nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay and our time at the villa.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to share your experience at Villa Alamandra. We fully understand, dealing with a power outage in any country can be frustrating and a burden, especially during ones holiday. Apparently most of the island had a power outage which lasted quite a long time. They happen very seldom and last usually no longer than 2 hours. You were the first family that ever needed to use the generator and apparently our landscaping team must have used the gas for mowing the lawn. Much appreciate the feedback, we will address the issue immediately. When our electrician tested the generator it worked all the A/C units, refrigerator and water heater all at once without a problem, although, you could not cook or run any other electrical items at the same time, as we mentioned over the phone.
Nature at times washes up sargassum seaweed at Turtle Beach, especially when temperatures rise in the Atlantic Ocean, it provides food, refuge and breeding grounds for an array of fish such as mahi mahi, jacks, amberjacks, sea turtles marine birds, crabs shrimp and more. We are happy you enjoyed Cockleshell Beach nearby and all it's amenities. We will be visiting Villa Alamandra next month and make sure all is in updated condition. Thank you very much!
Villa Alamandra is located at the southernmost point of St Kitts and is one of 20 homes at Turtle Beach. Water sport activities and restaurants available nearby.
Sugar Cane train ride, catamaran sailing and snorkeling and fishing trips, car ferry to sister island Nevis.
Lunch and dinners not to be missed:
Reggae Beach Bar and Grill, (Gary Pereira) for Lobster Fest Friday night.
The Pavilion Restaurant, at Sandy Bank Bay, one of the most beautiful restaurant settings you will ever see. Special Menu on Wednesday, 3 course meal US$52, or choose from regular menu.
Salt Plage, Sunday night for sunset . They have a band and Tapas menu.
Gourmet Burger Night at Spice Mill on Saturday.
Kittitian Hill on the North side of the island, oh so beautiful.
Arthur's Lemon casual beach restaurant for lunch also on N side
A lunch reservation at the Golden Rock Inn on Nevis (a Zen Oasis on the mountain). Peppe's Coffee Shop at the Christophe Harbour Marina, opening at around 9/9:30 am, good coffee, croissants and panini, relaxed atmosphere.
A two minute walk will take you to our beach, just walk into the Beach House Restaurant’s parking lot through the entrance gate to the beach. If you like the calmer Caribbean waters, you can take an eight minute walk (or drive) to Cockleshell Beach, where you will find many watersport activities, snorkel gear and beach chair rental, snorkeling and several lovely beach restaurants like Reggae Beach Bar or Spice Mill and on to Banana Beach, sight of the new Park Hyatt but not open yet. You would walk to Turtle Beach as above, take a right, and walk along the water’s edge until you come to an opening in the bushes. Take the first left after exiting the beach and follow that road until you see some buildings, then take a left to Cockleshell Beach. You can see that area from the veranda at the villa off to the right. You can drive to several other beaches for snorkeling, like Major’s Bay or Whitehouse Bay. Or take the Nevis Catamaran trip and stop at Shitten Bay for snorkeling. Gear, lunch and drinks will be provided; it’s a fun day trip. One of our favorite and very deserted beaches is Sand Bank Bay, at Christophe Harbor development, an 8-minute drive from the villa. It is good for body surfing, water aerobics or just playing in the water. It is a protected beach but it is on the Atlantic side of the island, where the water is a bit rougher than on the Caribbean side. We can highly recommend a walk to the volcano, although quite tough. Greg's Safari (Greg Pereira) has many wonderful hikes on island.
We like to take the car ferry 5 minutes from the villa to Nevis and drive around the island, stopping at the old plantations for a drink, and very much enjoy lunch at the Golden Rock Inn. Ask for a table with a view of Montserrat. Our favorite dish is the lobster salad sandwich and the chicken roti. Don’t miss a walk through their gardens, just lovely.
