About this property

Large Lake House | Door County | Cave Point Park

Enjoy this luxury home on Lake Michigan’s shores where the sound of waves relaxes you day & night. At Cave Point Park’s edge—your playground—this private, architect-designed home features high-end details: cherry wood floors, cathedral ceiling fireplace, 2 decks, windows galore and a bathroom for each bedroom!
We’re dog friendly too.

Whether it's a romantic getaway, friends gathering, or 3 generations together, you’ll have everything you need for precious times together.

Come create memories!

Our 3 bedrooms along with 3.5 bathroom home makes for a comfortable setting for six. If you have two more people in your group, you can use the loft above the living room, increasing total sleeping accommodations to eight.

We are 10 minutes from the town of Jacksonport, a darling community north of us, with the best meat counter in all of Door County. The store owner at Bleys' has meat from his pigs and cattle in his cooler. It doesn't get any more farm to table than that! Jacksonport has a beautiful sandy beach and a classic playground for kids. There is also the most down home bakery you can imagine.

Across the peninsula, just 20 minutes away is Egg Harbor. They have the best grocery store in all of Door County: Main Street Market. Super wine collection, gourmet cheeses, fresh produce, and a wide selection of high end food. Don't miss the frozen scones!! Also our favorite boutique home goods store, Maxwell House, is a must as well.

Just 15 minutes north of us is Baileys Harbor, a bustling town with fabulous restaurants, cool shops and Door County Brewery, that has live music, great food in the high season, and all around friendly people.

Now...back to our home...we are situated right next to Cave Point County Park, a one minute drive or 9 minute walk. The woods to the north of the park are a great playground for our guests. And they give us wonderful privacy.

Our home is designed to bring mother nature inside. As you can see by our photos, the house is full of windows that not only bring the trees and birds in close view but also the sun, moon and starts are also up close and personal.

The kitchen is fully stocked with all the pots, pans, dishes, spices, olive oil, paper products, coffee maker (standard drip Cuisenart), mini food processor, blender, toaster, microwave, utensils, knife set...we often have holidays at the house so we've tried to think of all the things a family needs to prepare meals at home.
We have a propane weber grill just outside the kitchen if you enjoy grilling.
If you are wondering if we have anything, please don't hesitate to ask.

Our open floor plan allows you to cook while you interact with those at the dining room table or in the living room.

The dining room table was built of cherrywood by my father. It seats 6. If you'd like more seating, we have a card table you can add on to seat 8.

In the living room, you'll enjoy our Door County stone two story fireplace. It has a propane starter for natural wood and our caretaker stocks nice dry wood right next to the fireplace. We just replaced the LF furniture in 2020 and when doing so we added an extra couch so the family can spread out in comfort. Next to the fireplace, you'll see a pen and ink watercolor of the shoreline drawn by my Uncle, an accomplished artist. So get the fire started and we'll move on to the first floor primary bedroom.

The ensuite primary bedroom faces the lake, with walk out access for a morning stroll to the water or bird watching. You'll get a great night's sleep on the king size tempur-pedic bed. The two closets and dresser give you plenty of room to settle in.

The ensuite master bath has a double sink, double headed shower and walkout outdoor shower. And a bath for a relaxing soak. We've have a make-up mirror if you're going out on the town. And there are drawers a plenty for all of your toiletries.

Details such as cherry wood and slate floors throughout first floor, Door County stone in countertops and fireplace are examples of attention to detail an architect would ensure his guests enjoy.

Next, take the open stairs with twelve picture windows to the west, up to the second floor. At the top of the stairs is the loft, is our entertainment center with a smart TV. We have Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube TV for your favorite sports, adventures, and favorite shows. The loft converts to a 4th bedroom or playroom for the kids. There is a sleeper sofa with a very comfortable mattress. (Note the loft is an open space including no door to the room.)

Down the hallway are two bedrooms and two bathrooms so you shouldn't have to wait to long to use the facilities! Both bedrooms face the lake and have beautiful views from the beds. They each have new queen-size Casper mattresses. Many of our guests crack the windows to hear the lake as they fall off to sleep.

We have recently added air conditioning, new furnace, oven, refrigerator, microwave, outdoor propane grill and replaced the living room furniture/rug. There is also a new beautiful stone stairway to the lake.

Some things of note:
~If you have young children please see photos of our stairs. The stairs are "open" meaning open slats between stairs and no door to stairways. We have woven fabric baby gates that have been built in since the photos for this website but if you'd like something stronger, please plan to bring extra baby gates for your visit. Bedrooms do have doors except the loft area.
~For internet we have Broadband which allows multiple users with no problems. My son taught a class remotely from the house during covid.
~The loft has a 50" Smart TV with Netflix, and YouTube TV. No satellite/cable but much is available via YouTube TV.
~The water system uses a holding tank for waste water leaving the home, which is more environmentally friendly. We have regularly scheduled service, but if the buzzer goes off during your stay (which indicates the tank will be full in one or two days), it's important to call our caretaker so that you continue to have good water pressure. You don't have to be home when they pump the outside tank; it's done in 10 min and is all outside.

~To keep our neighbors happy and our home in good shape, we do NOT allow parties. We follow good neighbor policies: see notes for details. No noise heard from outside of the home after 10pm. Thank you!

We expect you will have a fabulous time and do all we can to ensure that is the case including letting you know these particulars about our home to ensure it is a good match for you. As you can see by our reviews, our renters have been very happy!

We hope you'll find as much pleasure in our home as we do.

Home Instructions will be sent to you upon booking along with driving directions and "things to do list" that include shopping including groceries, nature trails many don't know about, restaurants, fun things to do in the area.

The description following this paragraph is AI generated by Vrbo, not from the owner and is inaccurate. We do not have a fitness center, nor is there limited housekeeping while you stay. Housekeeping is done before and after your stay, not during. Therefore, ignore the next three paragraphs, starting with "Air conditioning..." and ending with "fees may apply." We do have central air conditioning but that's covered earlier in the owner's description. The sentence below that is AI generated doesn't even make sense. Sorry. We are trying to get Vrbo to fix this.

My father designed this home to be a fabulous retreat from city life. Crack any window open and the lake is in the room. Windows abound so the outside is inside. When I come to Door County the stress of day to day life just slips away and the wildlife, lake and new areas to discover bring many moments of enjoyment and lasting memories.

Why they chose this property

The beauty of this property is that it is on the lakeside, you have peaceful, gorgeous views, the lake in all it's splendor; a full sky of stars; daytime privacy, hiking trails unending, and just a short drive away, when you wish to shop, visit art galleries, eat out, etc. you are close by.
I have at our home a long, diverse list of activities for families, couples, nature lovers, shoppers, gallery lovers, boaters, explorers, as well as recommended restaurants, a calendar of events and directions to sites, parks and towns near by, and essential services you may need. We are also happy to give you tips for things you'd like to do.

What makes this property unique

We love the privacy...we have a county park to the south of us, so no one can build or daily encroach on our enjoyment. We have two patios/porches. One is just above the lake with a fire pit and it's wonderful for the evening with friends or early morning tea all on your own. The two person master suite shower and outdoor shower are both a delight. The lights were custom made for the property and add a wonderful texture to the space. The two story living and dining room, along with the Door County stone fireplace are the favored gathering spots throughout the day, with the many glass doors, you feel like you are outside. The Tempur-Pedic king size bed in the master suite and Casper mattresses in the two upstairs bedrooms make slumber a dream. Enjoy!
