An Exquisite arts and crafts designer built cottage, just up from Camden Maine's famed Laite Beach. Camden rests at the foothills of Mount Battie and is one of the most beautiful harbors in Maine. The windjammers set sail several times a day and it is a buzz of activity all summer long, filled with great shopping experiences and wonderful restaurants at every turn. The Camden Opera House has several fantastic events with live entertainment from Rock and Roll to Classical Music and live Theatre.
'Stone's Throw' is the guesthouse to Boulder Cottage which is a fabulous pink turn of the century victorian, ergo the name Stone's Throw.
It's also just a stone's throw to town!
Lovely spot to call home for the weekend. The cottage is very comfortable and nicely appointed. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer!
The location is perfect for walking to Camden restaurants, shops and a delightful neighborhood park on the harbor. The property itself is also well designed --inside and out. We loved the details that made this place so attractive. The furniture, the light fixtures, the kitchen appliances are all contemporary, new looking and highly functional. The living room is bright and airy which is very conducive for hanging out after a day of sightseeing. I found the counter with barstools to be a comfortable place to set up my computer to do my photography processing after a day of shooting the beautiful Camden scenery. We also used the kitchen extensively. It is well equipped so we were able to pick up goodies at the farmer's market and the local shops to piece together our breakfasts, snacks and light dinners. The two drawer dishwasher also made it efficient to clean up after ourselves. I also loved the stackable washer and dryer in the bathroom. In addition to the functionality of this charming space, its key advantage is the quiet and private nature of the cottage. Although it is next door to the main house occupied by the owner, we had extraordinary privacy and peace. We did meet the owner, Josh and found him to be helpful and delightful. He clearly loves his town which makes him a gracious host. The pictures of the cottage are helpful but the feeling of the place is actually more spacious than it looks. I can't really put into words the combination of charm and function and location that make this an excellent choice for a visit to Camden so let me just say that we loved the cottage and would recommend it without reservation.
Josh was very accommodating and his cottage has a lot of charm. You're a few blocks from all that Downtown Camden has to offer. A tranquil retreat and wonderful location. We happen to be in town during the "Windjammer Festival" so there were endless activities popping up throughout town. We would definitely recommend this place to others.
Josh's cottage is a beautiful example of what you can find if the pictures, the owner, and the description are accurate. The decor is exquisite; the advice and hospitality provided by Josh was personalized and thoughtful; and Camden is just a delightful walk away. Highly recommend.
The cottage location was convenient, a short walk to a public park and beach, and close to everything in Camden. Our host, Joshua, met us upon arrival and was very friendly with a great sense of humor. The 1-bedroom apartment was very clean and contemporary, with easy parking close to the entrance, and the washer and dryer were especially helpful. The kitchen had all modern appliances, the marble bathroom was large, and there were more then enough closets for storage. We also enjoyed using the fireplace and appreciated the thought that went into the artwork and décor. The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet, and we thoroughly enjoyed our 4-day Autumn visit to Camden and were glad to have such a comfortable place to call home during our stay.
-amazing place to stay
-renovated with high quality materials and style
-lots of great windows for wonderful light and air flow
-the bed was very comfortable, with coverings from a wonderful Maine Mill
-the cottage was spotlessly clean
-there is enough separation between the guest cottage and the main house that you feel a good sense of privacy.
-easy and pleasant walk to downtown restaurants and activities
-about 1 block away is a small, completely uncrowded cove beach and park that allowed for a fun swim
-I have stayed in many VRBO homes over the last 15 years, and this one has been one of the all time best
